Top 5 essential/cult metal albums. in Music ·
Blizzard Beast said:When I say an album is "cult," I don't mean it’s just some obscure thing gathering dust on a shelf in a local record store... I mean the damn thing is incredible and has captured a specific group of people who absolutely worship it.
Basically, calling something cult is more about it being legendary.

For example,
Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane
Slayer-Reign in Blood

Look, all I'm trying to tell you is stop talking nonsense.
I get what you're aiming for, really,

but saying that is like claiming that when you say "this apple is red," you're implying that you actually prefer eating pears.
"Cult" and "legendary" aren't even the same thing...

My bad, mellowrider50, for calling you out specifically, but honestly this applies to anyone using that term... if you didn't realize, the word cult actually implies something hidden.

And none of those albums were some underground secret kept from the public eye—I mean, how else would you guys even know they existed? There was actual promotion involved for all of them, so let's not get ahead of ourselves...

silentheron58 said:So, 50 Cent🙏 😛

"In Da Club"... easily the best rap I've ever heard.
Total wankst......😲
"21 Questions"......😕

Sick tracks.

Man, if that's the peak of hip-hop for you, you clearly haven't spent much time listening to anything actually good...
The guy barely even enunciates, his flow is non-existent, zero melody, and the lyrics are just straight-up moronic.....

Long live Ultramagnetic C.L.I.T.!!!!!!!
What does our music taste say about us? in Music ·
....... yeah,,...,... they've totally got a grip on our consciousness...... or maybe they haven't yet???......

And apparently Deeder died in a plane crash too... which is hilarious because I was literally just talking to the guy yesterday...
The Gazelles said:The 10-step guide to being a total music elitist

Step 1:

calling people sellouts—that’s my go-to, though I find myself using it way less lately...

calling people posers—I don't do that...

labeling stuff commercial/evil—yeah, I definitely use that one...

anything else—nah, not really...

so, 0.5 points...

Step 2:

refusing to listen to certain bands (I listened to Sonic Youth once, but that barely counts)...

so, 0 points...

Step 3:

not hating specific bands but not loving them either, so let's say...

0.5 points...

Step 4:

oh yeah... just ask Edward Robinson6 (who rarely posts anyway) about how much of a smartass I can be sometimes...

I’d probably give myself another 2 points but rules are rules... so basically:

1 point...

Step 5:

loving the hunt for new bands but not thinking everyone else is a loser if they find them after me... so here we go:

0.5 points...

Step 6:

0 points...

Step 7:

0 points...

Step 8:

0 points...

Step 9:

1 point...

Step 10:

0.5 points (I mean, I know everything there is to know about The Prodigy, I could talk their heads off for hours... jebiga, just some old boyish obsession... plus I tend to get deep into other random stuff too, so it's hard to pigeonhole me (go check Edward Robinson6 again))...

Grand total:

4 points... if 50% is a passing grade, then I totally failed, even if this 40% feels pretty intimidating, so I'll work on it...

anyway, regarding the thread...

it's just that the posers on this forum will never come clean (come on, Edward Robinson6, just admit it, I saw your CD collection list, there's plenty of evidence there... don't be scared)

and yeah, cheers everyone, I'm off to go kill myself, or as Timothy says...

why not?
why not.
why not!
why not...
why not?!
Incubus - you feeling it too?

Tool

Nah.
The band I’m actually rambling on about is called:

the grand silent system

so now you guys see what I mean...

Give me a break... how on earth would you know that?
Do you even own anything besides their studio albums?
I went through and grabbed ten B-sides from some old singles and honestly, every single one of them is a total masterpiece... obviously.
Got any non-album tracks in your collection???
I’ve got all five studio records, plus a bunch of live stuff and my copy of my iron lung.

Come on, please.
I'd really appreciate it...

just try putting in some actual effort to figure things out...

I'm on it.

just don't go dying on the interstate because then the moon is gonna freeze everything and the plants will just drown....

Daniel Bailey7 said:only total morons don't realize you're supposed to put a space in a negation... 😛

nah, it's more like people who just can't be bothered to hit the spacebar are the ones struggling most...😁

Daniel Bailey7 said:Oh wow, great... so we're all just simping for O'Leary now, I guess...

What's next on the list—McLuhan???

Seriously kids... you really ought to try reading actual books... instead of just throwing quotes around like they mean something...

Yeah, whatever.
I just grabbed that line (and honestly, who knows who else did) from some kid's backpack where she had it scribbled down, and later I found out it was actually that guy...
So yeah.
I liked it.
I can have whatever kind of signature I want, right?
And that's basically the whole story as far as I'm concerned...

honestly, people just call everyone else an idiot because they’ve got absolutely nothing else useful to say...

damien said:whatever....................

what kind of "magic society" are we even talking about here? why the secrecy?

it’s just such a damn shame when people don't realize the actual message hidden inside their CD players
🙄

so, is it really such a huge tragedy if we tell people what's up or not?

ps.
they aren't gods or anything...
and honestly, Maynard would probably be flipping burgers at a McDonald's if he didn't have that massive platform he's got now
trust me on this one....

this guy again.
who on earth is out here rambling about gods and hamburgers?

look, if you're the type who's gonna borrow that one specific CD—which I clearly am, while you obviously aren't—then people are basically begging for a little guidance just so nobody totally misinterprets the whole thing and tosses it aside, because then you miss out on so much stuff...
there you go.

Chandler said:Some Maynard stuff, I guess...

So who even is this guy and what's his deal anyway?

The whole "think for yourself, question authority" vibe is basically just the mantra of Timothy O'Leary.

As for the guy mentioned above, my bad everyone, I’ve honestly never heard of him...
Is it maybe a woman?

Staring up at a sky absolutely choked with satellites and still, I can't get a single signal through.....

Seriously, is everyone just completely clueless here?
Or is what I'm asking just way too much for you guys to wrap your heads around?

p.s. And just so we're clear, the band isn't some kind of secret occult society if that's what you were thinking....
URGENT: Need some help here! in Music ·
There’s this group of people out there who don't just listen to the music—they basically live and breathe it, operating like some kind of secret magic society just so they can stop talking about them altogether. Of course, only the true fanatics actually get what I’m laying down here, while the rest of you can keep yapping away all you want, though you probably haven't a clue what's actually going on...

But for those of you who actually *get* it, I’m asking you—please, just stop bringing them up on this forum. People are starting to latch onto them, and before you know it, you've got a massive wave of total misinterpretations spreading like wildfire, and the whole cycle just repeats itself endlessly...
If you absolutely insist on talking about them, then for heaven's sake, do us all a favor and actually explain the context first, because it’s such a damn shame when people miss the actual message playing in their headphones...

Thanks in advance, I guess.

see you on the other side...
