I guess you'd go crazy if you had to constantly install patches, service packs, and whatnot, but they can't function without them—it's a necessity. It really just comes down to how you handle things... As long as your system hasn't crashed, you're doing alright... For me, after just two days, especially since the technician only installed Windows 7 just to get me off his hands... I suppose every cloud has a silver lining...
That's strange. I wonder what you did to get on his bad side. 😕
The system shouldn't have crashed if everything was compatible with the hardware. There's no reason for it; it's pretty obvious those Winnie versions were just subpar.
Look, you have 8,806 posts and I've only written 14. You think you can "drain my blood"? You're lucky a documentary about a Trojan virus is starting on PBS right now.
You got it wrong. You aren't trying to drain my blood; you're aiming at the people over in the politics subforum. 😉
Lawrence Doyle7 said:P.s. I was actually planning on jumping into a multi-day debate over in the politics section, but I think I'll spare you from reading my essays. You've earned a break.
You can go wild there. I'm not a moderator 😁 over in that section, so if you start down that path, you're basically asking for people to come after you. 😁 👍
And why wouldn't I be a little worked up? You guys definitely took things a step too far. As for my reading comprehension or whether I'm actually doing my job—if you hadn't noticed, I'm the "Moderator" here. It was a long time ago when I was in that phase of not knowing what I was doing; I’m old school now, learned through trial and error. I already told you "andinowsky, look, I don't have a problem with you asking, but...", ", just start the installation; it won't be an issue. If you hit a snag, just ask.", as the "Moderator", I'm always available to help, so don't worry about it. 🙂 👍
Honestly, you’re acting like installing Windows 7 is some kind of doctoral thesis. Look, I don't have anything against you asking questions, but... (I mean, when you go to the restroom, do you grab a single roll or do you carry the whole twelve-pack?), just start the installation. It shouldn't be a problem. If you hit a snag, just ask. 🙂👍
If you actually know what hardware is sitting inside your rig, just head straight to the manufacturer's website to grab the drivers. If they aren't listed there, I guess you're stuck winging it, or maybe you could just ask for help here on the forum. 🙂
Usually, when you install Windows 7, it handles most of the drivers automatically, though maybe not sound—it really just depends on whatever motherboard or laptop you're running. 🙂
Is your Win7 acting up or something? Are you running into specific issues? I mean, the fact that it isn't recognizing all 4 GB of RAM probably shouldn't be messing with your day-to-day performance too much, I guess. 🙂
Raymond Turner7 said:If I go through all this while I'm on XP, then once I'm done and I reboot to switch over to W7 will it actually show up?
I think you might have already seen this mentioned somewhere, but XP and Win7 are two completely independent systems. Whatever you do in XP won't affect Win7, and vice versa. I guess it just doesn't work like that. 🙂

This is my last question regarding this whole mess: So, I'm converting an HD movie into .avi format to maintain the quality, and I want to know how to put that converted film onto a DVD so it plays automatically on my home theater system—it can have a start menu if it wants, I don't care, just make it play automatically—and also on my PC, where it should auto-play too. Can I do this using Ashampoo Burning Studio?

Anyway, this is my last question regarding this whole ordeal: I’m converting an HD movie into an .avi format because I want to maintain the original quality, but how do I actually burn that converted file onto a disc so it plays automatically on a home theater system? I don't care if there's a main menu or not; I just need it to play immediately when inserted, and I want the same thing to happen when I play it on my PC—just seamless, automatic playback. Can I get this done using Ashampoo Burning Studio?
placidcobra49 said:You really need to build a DVD menu. I’m not sure if you can pull that off using Ashampoo—I don't personally use it, so I can't say for certain—but it should work fine with Apple iDVD. Maybe there's even a way to set it up on a Blu-ray Player so it just starts playing automatically? On my setup, every DVD Video just kicks right in immediately, whether there's a menu or not.
Yeah, but he doesn't have a VOB. Since it’s an AVI file and not a DVD format, you don't really have much to work with. I guess you could just burn that file onto a disc; a standard Blu-ray Player should recognize it as a file, hit play, and maybe—just maybe—that would be that. 🙂
So you ended up with a 3.28 GB AVI file, but where's the subtitle? 🙂
I spent all day yesterday wrestling with Adobe Premiere Elements. I managed to convert an MKV file into a DVD format, which gave me several TS and VOB files, but I can't get the subtitles to stick. No matter what I try, they just won't burn in—even though the video quality itself looks great. Interestingly, when I convert directly from an AVI to a DVD, the subtitles attach without any issues. I guess I have no idea what's going wrong here. 😢

I actually already answered this four posts ago, so maybe give it another read. This link shows the system requirements for Windows 7; I guess you can just compare those specs against what you're running.
