So, are you still running on a trial version, or did you actually go ahead and buy the full license? 😁

Jerry Flores74 said:Hey. I’m looking to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7 on a beefier machine. First, let me list my specs.

CPU: Intel Core 2 duo 3.0 GHz
GPU: Radeon HD 3870 RAM
RAM: 4 GB
HDD: Western Digital 640

I suppose this rig should be plenty powerful enough for 64-bit. However, a buddy mentioned that when he tried running the 64-bit version of Windows XP, he ran into issues installing the .NET Framework, which apparently makes playing games or running various apps impossible. Is it actually viable to use 64-bit for watching movies, gaming, and the usual stuff you'd do on 32-bit? 🤷

Thanks 🙏

boldwalker2 said:Well, this is a different situation, but obviously I can't afford to lose any quality. Otherwise, I’d just stick with ConvertxtoDVD. Basically, I load the movie into the program, but I’m not entirely sure what you mean—I have options for AVI, MP4, MPEG, WMA, FLV, and MOV, but I don't see an option to select DVD.

PS. How do I actually burn subtitles into a movie so that when I pop the disc into my PC, the subtitles show up automatically?

Since you went through all the trouble of tracking down "AVS Video Converter," you might as well download the manual and actually read it. 😁

I usually stick with Handbrake. You just have to make sure everything is dialed in within the Converter options before you actually hit that convert button. If you set it up right, the subtitles get burned into the video, and if you’re ripping from a DVD, they’ll be pulled straight from the disc itself.
Are you looking to just burn that MKV file directly onto a DVD, or do you actually want to convert the MKV into a DVD-compatible format before burning it? 🙂

If it’s the latter, then your output file should look like this:

DVD-Video files (IFO, BUP, VOB)

Taylor Morales31 said:It depends, I guess. On my current machine, I hit F10 to get into the BIOS, but on my older laptop, it was always F2.👍

He didn't specify if he's working on a laptop or a desktop, so I’m assuming it's a PC. If that's not the case, maybe someone could let us know. 😉

Actually, you don't get into the BIOS by hitting F8; you need to mash the Delete key instead. Once you're in there, just set the boot priority to prioritize the DVD drive, save your changes, and give the PC a quick restart. If that Windows disc is actually bootable, you should be able to pull off a clean install from it. 🙂

Look, before they actually install Windows 7, they’re going to wipe the C drive completely to clear the deck for a clean setup. You won't have any chance to delete XP afterward because it'll already be gone. Here's a guide on how that works:

I think you messed up right at the start of the Windows 7 installation. You probably should've told it to just wipe the C drive and install directly onto C. 🙂

It takes a little bit of getting used to at first since things feel slightly misplaced—especially in Word—but once you settle in, everything is fine. [IMAGE DELETED]

I don't see what Microsoft Word has to do with Windows 7. 😕

Just jump straight over to Windows 7. 👍
If you're working with a document like the one you mentioned, you can just handle it in Microsoft.

Go to Edit> Replace> In the "Find what" box, type "c", then in "Replace with," type "ć". Hit "Replace All," and that should do it. You can basically repeat that process for any other characters giving you trouble, then just save the file once the replacements are done.🙂

ConvertXtoDvd. 🙂
You don't actually get an Office 2003 CD bundled with the computer; you have to buy that separately, just like how you had to pick up Office 2007.🙂

You’ve thrown a bunch of different things out there—USB, serial ports, adapters, COM ports—but you haven't actually said what isn't working. I guess it would be helpful if you could clarify things a bit more clearly. What motherboard are we talking about? Who's the manufacturer and what's the specific model? Just try to break it down so it actually makes sense. 🙂

Noah Foster57 said:Well, if the 64-bit version is inherently faster than the 32-bit one from the jump, you'd expect to see some speed gains on your end too. Though, I guess to actually see the 64-bit version hit its full stride, you'd probably need an extra two gigs of RAM...

I think what you meant to say is that if you have 4 GB of memory, the 64-bit version will actually recognize all 4 GB. 🙂
As for the speed, that’s a different story altogether. 🙂

dustybear9 said:😢 I guess I'm still pretty lost in that area. Every time I actually manage to download something, I have no clue where it ends up on my machine or how I'm supposed to run it... 😲

It probably ended up in My Documents. If you can't find it, just type the name of the file you downloaded into the Search bar; that should show you exactly where it landed on your computer.
You just run it by clicking on that driver file—the one ending in .exe. Simple enough, I guess.

When you're booting up the PC, just tap the Delete key until you hit the BIOS. Look for the entry labeled Floppy 3.5" and set that to disabled.

As for navigating the BIOS itself, you should have some guidance in the manual that came with your motherboard. 🙂

Thomas Carter8 said:It took me two and a half hours to install Windows 7 Ultimate, while my buddy finished in thirty minutes flat. Once it's finally up and running, everything feels sluggish. Copying a CD takes forever compared to how fast it worked on Windows XP, and my games keep stuttering. Everything ran perfectly on XP, so I was wondering if anyone knows how to stop Windows 7 from slowing down my PC so it actually runs normally.

I mean, you probably have a hardware issue somewhere, but I guess the real question is what exactly isn't working right. 🤷
