@Timothy Jones85: Look, don't you dare start lecturing anyone about "civilization"—if you were actually civilized, you would’ve stayed behind on Friday to grab a beer with us at the local pub. Even if it was just out of basic politeness. 🙂

What was that headline in the crime blotter? "Man beaten up after grabbing drinks with new friends." 😁 😁 😁

I was running around like crazy and totally wiped out from everything... there'll be a next time. 😉

By the way, the polite hollowseal33 introduced me to dzdzihad and coastalpanther11, while Mr. Wrong just introduced himself (he kept screaming "Branko, Branko, Branko!" right in my ear... and when it turns out his name is actually Mr. Wrong, I honestly don't know who the hell he was kidding with those ears😁).

Glad everyone finally met. 🙂

I'm currently grinding away at my thesis on animism—totally lost in tribal stuff right now—so apologies to any accidental victims of my rambling. 😳

gentlepuma20 said:the latest evidence suggests evolution is pretty questionable😉

Look, I’m not even trying to argue with you about people being destructive—that’s a given. You don't need to lecture me on that a thousand times. My point is just that civilization isn't inherently "evil," just like the animal kingdom isn't some beautiful utopia. Animals kill each other constantly just to stay alive. So what's so great about that? Do you honestly think life would be "pleasant" if you were some gazelle out on the plains, terrified every single time you tried to grab a drink of water because a crocodile or a lion might snatch you up? I wouldn't say so.

please, direct me to these "evidences" please🙂

And for the record, you could easily argue that a crocodile dies from fear when there aren't any antelope in sight to eat! Death is the most normal thing in nature... we are the only species that lives in a constant state of gut-wrenching terror, anxiety, and insecurity.

Just look at the Inuit or any tribe in the Amazon. They sing, they dance, they drink, they play, they have sex for pleasure, and they actually work way less than any modern civilized human—well, except maybe for the slackers living off welfare back in the States.😁
The Nunamiut tribes or the unknown groups in the Amazon—they don't even carry the memory of a murder within their communities; they don't suffer from cancer or mental illnesses (which is incredibly rare considering the inbreeding issues found in certain unknown groups). Now, obviously, no culture is perfect; every group is its own thing, and there are still thousands of tribes across the globe today evolving right along with nature. But we suppress them and destroy them. The truth is, humans can live perfectly fine as part of the natural world and thrive. Countless cultures have proven this—some died out, sure, while others emerged. When we die—and we will—it all goes to hell anyway.😢

And who's to say the world was made exclusively for us? Maybe we should just step back and let other species develop undisturbed; who knows, maybe they'll eventually evolve a higher consciousness too.

What if that’s our actual role as the first ones?😲 🙂

hm, gentlepuma20, what’s your take—how many human cultures actually exist out there besides the "civilized" ones?
"our way of life" has basically zero connection to the wilderness anymore, whereas there are plenty of cultures out there living in total sync with the wild.
around 10,000 years ago—right when civilization kicked off—we started separating ourselves from our surroundings. We turned Earth into this ultimate adversary that needs to be conquered and subdued just because it’s wild and dangerous.
look, if you check the evidence, we’re talking about 3 million years of human evolution, and yet only one single culture has started acting completely malignant toward its environment (starting to create massive surpluses and essentially opting out of the wilderness)—and the crazy part is, our culture celebrates that very act as the glorious beginning of our rise.

other cultures are still evolving at the rhythm of evolution, staying perfectly aligned with Earth, while we—like some damn cancer—just metastasize into every corner of the planet until we finally destroy it.

Are you freaking kidding me right now!?😁
Alright, come on then—tell me which chords we can actually swap out for the dominant without stepping outside the diatonic scale. Feel free to stick to scale degrees if that’s easier for you.

I’m guessing since you claim to love music and listen to it constantly, you’ll have an answer for this one.😛

gentlepuma20 said:but you’ll just run into a pack of wolves ready to tear those sheep apart. A lion doesn't spare an antelope out of some sense of morality—it's because hunting one single antelope is hard enough, let alone fifty of them.
plus, have you ever actually seen a father lion pass up a meal just to feed his kids? Never happens.

So, what does "biologically arrogant" even mean here? 🤣

Hey, how's it going, gentlepuma20?😁 My working hours are gonna fly by if I don't deal with your "genius" insights.🙂

You’re totally mixing up apples and oranges here... In the wild, every species has its own purpose—to sustain that specific kind. Sheep are domestic animals, bred specifically to be slaughtered (for wool, meat, etc.)... You won't find "morality" in the wild; that's a human invention... What we're really looking at is the law of limited competition, which prevents one species from wiping out another because they're interconnected.
It’s impossible to truly grasp how nature functions from a civilized standpoint because we've drifted way too far from it. So, please, stop trying to force arguments and perspectives onto this that have nothing to do with actual Nature (Life) and everything to do with our little human tricks.

"Biologically arrogant" would imply that we are assuming someone else's biology as our own entirely.😉

A lioness watches her male to make sure he doesn't snack on the cubs—though honestly, that rarely happens... kind of an analogy for abortion rates (if you've ever looked at the stats!) and how much later in life people are choosing motherhood these days

The topic isn't stupid, per se—maybe it’s just the wrong time or place for it, but since this forum is all about discussing differences anyway🙂
I’ve asked plenty of people if they actually know when humans first appeared, how we evolved, or how many different human cultures and species have existed—and what "culture" even means in this context
So far, I haven't run into anyone who's said anything remotely intelligent beyond the usual "we were hairy primitives and then evolution happened, so here we are..." People have zero clue about our actual placement in time and space. I just wanted to see what the vibe was on this forum regarding these things... well, I've seen enough, though I could keep going

Sapienti sat🙂

Carol Jackson45 said:A few unlucky dolphins got tossed up by the wave and dozens of cows couldn't make it out of the barn—just typical farm animals. And then there were hundreds of thousands of dead or missing people, but oh my god, why bother with them when you can focus on helping a dolphin get back into the ocean? 🙄

Honestly, I don't get how anyone can be such a massive fan of humans.😕 Humans are just biologically arrogant, parasitic pests.🙂
Man, I once knew a guy in Chicago who threw his dog off a fourth-story balcony, and while the poor thing was still dying, he actually wanted to go to jail for it.😲 We are hands down the most messed-up species on this entire planet—the only ones that actively seek out extinction.

In nature, you’ll never find a pride of lions that slaughters fifty antelopes just so four of them can eat (that's the easy answer for evolutionary fitness).

(Civilization-wise), humans have totally overvalued themselves as a culture. Collectively, we are just plain unintelligent—and here, the Gaussian curve doesn't lie.
And here's one from some Senate fan club dedicated to "😁Timothy Jones85 the mute
": Beneath layers of rehearsed platitudes, even within the most advanced minds of limited people, this debate feels activist-driven.

And I am definitely not an activist.👋

You’ve got a point there—the greatest visionaries usually end up being dictators... 🙂

Look, I didn't say a damn thing about dictators, for crying out loud🙂 nor did I say anything about race...........

@Michael Newman50—well, he's already here, take a look😎

@gentlepuma20—I actually just did exactly that by making a top books list😉

Yeah, sure, now you’re gonna ask for a five-star rating just for being dedicated too...

Is everyone just obsessed with being offended nowadays, or am I just lacking a healthy dose of ironic detachment? Rolls eyes.

What the hell is your problem?😁 You probably think you're some kind of genius or something.🙂

Anyway, here’s my top list of books that actually moved the needle for me—maybe then things will be clearer.

1. Daniel Quinn - Ishmael
2. Marlo Morgan - Call of the Wild
3. 3. Daniil Harms - pretty much anything

gentlepuma20 said:Oh, I get it. So when you actually get sick, you aren't going to grab medicine—you’ll just sit there waiting for the end because apparently, there are way too many of us breathing the air.

Look, I’m one of those people who is genuinely wary of even basic over-the-counter stuff.😁 Garlic, honey, olive oil, seeds, fruits, veggies—that’s my whole playbook.😁

So, yeah, I guess I am pretty much that typical guy who treats death like a forbidden topic and would probably be scrambling for the best meds available if things got seriously bad.
But I’m trying to unlearn all that.😎

From what I recall back in school, they teach us the exact opposite of reality... all this stuff about food production, the various dangers lurking in the wild, and those massive technological leaps humanity has made... It just creates this incredibly thick layer of pretentiousness that most people never see through—mostly because the "big brains" out there tend to get lost in topics that are completely useless (think Aristotle, the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, politics, blah blah blah...🙂

The vast majority of people are just plain, ordinary folks—even if some of them happen to be highly educated or have polished manners.......
hanging out with them is way more natural than trying to force it with society😁

gentlepuma20 said:if it weren't for those ruthless scientists and poor animals, half our medicines wouldn't even exist... look, the world is a brutal place, damn it.😢

there are roughly 4 billion people too many on this planet—and honestly, I don't exactly view scientists as the brightest lights when it comes to long-term vision.😁

we’re overpopulating so aggressively—and doing it at the expense of every other species—that we've basically started tearing ourselves apart right in front of everyone. And frankly, it wouldn't be such a catastrophe if our self-destruction didn't mean wiping out every single bit of advanced life on Earth.

but way too many people seem to think this entire planet was designed specifically for humans, and that nature is just some collection of hazards we need to keep under control.

Man, I get erections from Mars Volta that I'm still dealing with days later.😎 Saying I just "like" TMV would be a massive understatement.

By the way, my TMV playlist jumps from Black Flag straight to Jean-Michel Jarre—so if Santana pops up, it’s totally normal behavior for me.😉
I used to think it was more about that Latin influence than specifically being a Santana fan, but honestly, who cares? It's music from Mars...😁
