Nicholas Perez33 said:My top 3 bucket list items back when I was 14:

1. Lose weight—the struggle is real 😁
2. Tell that blonde girl in my class where to go
3. Shred on the guitar like Jimi Hendrix

Good grief, Nicholas Perez33...😲 😲 Talk about hitting close to home—well, except for the part where I was skinny as a starving stray 😁 )

I read it ages ago, but honestly, I can't even remember where I picked it up😢—it was like... a fizzy soda, much better when it’s just words on a page😁

Also, ginger as a spice? Total letdown.............it tastes way too much like dish soap to me🙂

Come on, seriously—WHAT specifically is "wrong" with their production? Like, tell me what you’d actually change?

Everything to me is exactly how it should be.

I don't know... it feels too much like that cookie-cutter MTV production style—totally lacks soul. You've got some songs that have actual character and others that just feel generic. The sonic image is great, everything is crystal clear and perfectly balanced—it’s a textbook A+ from a technical standpoint—but it's hollow. Even the instrument sounds feel a bit sterile. There's just this massive gap between the individual songs and the overall production quality.

To me, The Strokes are the gold standard for hitting that sweet spot with production😉—think In Utero, Vaya, Songs for the Deaf, Pretty Hate Machine, Superunknown, Songs About Fucking, etc.

I’d roughen up the soundscapes; I think the band would sound way more convincing—maybe not right out of the gate, but definitely eventually.

Of course, this is strictly my own opinion, and keep in mind I'm not a professional producer.👋

I definitely wasn't expecting such a heavy-handed masculine hint from you there... assuming I even caught what you were throwing my way.😬

And if I did—well, then we're on the same page, because I have a massive thing for glasses myself.😎 🤣

If it weren't for the Gang of Four, those guys would've just ended up ripping off stuff from the sixties😁—honestly, without them, they wouldn't have had a clue what to do with themselves.

It's just basic, run-of-the-mill hype.👎

Franz Ferdinand is basically like a greasy breakfast burrito that’s mostly just sautéed onions and cheap seasoning, yet somehow they still charge top dollar for it because they're so in😁

Interpol is more like a bowl of gourmet chili that you pulled straight out of the fridge—cold and totally uninspired😢

Just a few of my own analogies
Personal Top Lists & Rankings in Music ·
I honestly think Interpol would be a phenomenal band if their production wasn't so incredibly polished and washed out. They’ve got killer songs, great arrangements, solid lyrics, and the vocals are there—but that damn MTV-style glossy production just gets under my skin and ruins it all for me.😁 It's the exact same story when it comes to Faith No More.

And look, let me flex my "I was there" muscles for a second—back in September 2002, I was spinning *Turn on the Bright Lights* on repeat and trying to show it to my buddies who were obsessed with Joy Division. Honestly? They totally talked me down on it.😁

Plus, in my opinion, Antics is definitely the weaker record.

You're acting like it's an absolute fact that they're happier, but you honestly can't know that. To me, that's just nonsense.

my own copy-paste

Imagine tribes where people only work three hours a day, there’s zero cancer, zero AIDS, zero flu, no crime, and NO FEAR OF DEATH!!!!!! No animal cruelty, no instant frustration because everything gets solved immediately, and their communication and relationships are just... beautiful. So yeah, I reached a somewhat emotional conclusion there. 🙂
If that isn't enough for you, then man, I guess everything really is relative.

Look, I didn't say anything about knowing a single thing about you🙄—seriously though, I’m not looking for some intellectual sparring match or a back-and-forth argument, so let's just pivot. Let's list our top four favorite colors to stay on track and actually make this interesting (since we've already exhausted the whole "seasons" topic)😁
Here goes, I'll kick things off:

1. Ljučibasta
2. Naranđasta
3. Blue
4. Green

Listen, dummy—don't you dare compare me to those posers at the FBI that I avoid like the plague.😠
You clearly have zero clue who I am, what I actually do, or what topics actually matter to me.😛

I’d honestly just stay quiet, but since everyone else wants to drag this out...😁 stop being so insecure.🙂

gentlepuma20 said:Is that some kind of internet slang? I guess so.

Timothy Jones85, look—whether those people are actually "happier" or more "fulfilled"... honestly, nobody knows for sure, let alone you... plus, just look at what kind of people they are, talking about all those ridiculous names you've given yourself 😬

You have this one annoying habit... whenever you don't know anything about the topic being discussed, you just pivot everything toward relativism... like... "what can you really know? you never know anything."😁 That's just dodging the point, which is exactly what you love to accuse everyone else of doing.🙂

Look, I've read plenty of books about these tribes—some of them only work about three hours a day. They don't deal with cancer, AIDS, or the flu, there’s zero crime, and NO FEAR OF DEATH!!!!!! No animal cruelty either, no pent-up frustrations because they handle things immediately, and their communication and relationships are just... beautiful. So yeah, I made a bit of a sweeping conclusion based on that.🙂

And for god's sake, I'd rather be an Iroquois than an "American"—and I say that strictly regarding the name, brothers and sisters.😬

Carol Jackson45 says:
All human cultures are civilized. Or are you defining "civilization" strictly through a Western lens?

Well, here’s my take:
The Navajo, the Pueblo, the Bushmen, the Dagari, the Gebusi, the Urubina, the Tupinamba, the Iroquois—and there are plenty more where those came from—these aren't "civilized" cultures in that sense. They are tribes that belonged (or still belong) to much broader cultural groupings—Native American, Inuit, Aboriginal... you get the idea.

People living in New York City, Sydney, Pretoria, Buenos Aires, Cairo—they are all part of a civilized culture.

See, the vast majority of people think just like you—either they aren't even aware other ways of life exist, or they are, and they fall into that trap of cultural relativism. You know, the idea that our culture is somehow superior just because we're technologically advanced, while these other cultures supposedly "outclass" us in spiritual or wisdom-based categories.

"Civilization" teaches us how to stop destroying these other cultures—well, maybe not *stop*, but rather how to show them that our way of life is the best one, effectively "saving" them from the jaws of primitivism.
The fact that those people are actually waaaay happier and more fulfilled human beings clearly doesn't matter to us.

@prittpen: Look, we’re definitely headed for our own downfall, but dinosaurs went down too and everyone else carried on just fine. You really think a man who considers himself a pillar of civilization is just going to surrender without a fight? Rest assured, if we don't go out first, we'll be among the last ones standing—and we'll sure as hell screw over every other species that's been patiently evolving along.

🙂😁
