Real Rock vs. Garbage in Music ·
For me, Franz Ferdinand are hands down the best rockers out there—mostly because of those damn guitar solos... you can actually hear that Santana influence bleeding through... absolute fire!!!🙏

Wait, are they heretics? What’s the deal—did they just change their name, or did the actual lineup switch too?

The name stays the same, but they've got a new drummer now... they just finished recording some new stuff and honestly, it's gonna be killer.

check out the announcement right there... we are essentially Ruiz

it's just Janko from Untold playing now—basically a heretic at this point... it’s just the two of us

btw, we’re playing at The Blue Note on December 17th, so if anyone is actually dying to know...😁

hm, well, let's just say I'd personally rather head over to Trevor's—but hey, it's your call, don't be late or whatever👋

@izrod

Look, if you actually want to be considered cool on this forum, you basically need to shut up, sit down, and kiss some serious ass here--😁

1. Post-punk bands, led by The Fall

2. Generally anything punk pre-1978, specifically focusing on The Clash and the Buzzcocks

3. A solid grasp of the American underground—think Husker Du (on SST Records), Mission of Burma, and those Dischord bands

4. The bands that paved the way for grunge... Sonic Youth, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, and all their various incarnations

That’s your foundation.😁
Moving on:

Nirvana, Radiohead, and At The Drive-In are treated like the holy trinity of nineties mainstream, while Slint and Big Black represent the absolute peak of the underground. Basically, when it comes to that decade, you have to stay current on everything released by the folks who were actually relevant back in the eighties... it's mandatory.

This is where the forum splits into two distinct camps... one side goes crazy for sweat, pop-rock, and metal alongside all that "cool" stuff I just listed, while the more sensitive crowd clings to indie and Americana releases—you know, stuff like The National or Arcade Fire.

But they actually agree on one thing: most of them think Franz Ferdinand (and then Block Party, The Editors, etc.) is essentially the ultimate musical law.

Prog and jazz? Not really a vibe here.

So, give it a shot and good luck to ya.👋

everyone's first instinct is basically "get lost," but nobody actually says it because they're too busy following some bullshit rule about online "civil discourse" or whatever...

And let's be real—this forum has its own cliques, people who love each other, people who hate each other, and people who just can't stand one another—just like in real life, whether they admit it or not...

What’s your problem? I get told "get lost" all the time—sometimes when it makes sense, sometimes when it doesn't.😎

We’re only tough when we're typing on a forum. I'm out here wearing combat boots, Alex Rogers91 is rocking denim jackets, and Nicholas Perez33 is just... soft. Honestly? We look more like The Goonies than some street gang... 😁

I'm really just trying to figure out which one of you is that massive bald guy with the terrifying stare—you know, so I know when to start running.🙂 😁

Happy days are here again! :klap:

Is anyone else noticing that toothy little grin after everything that went down... seriously, people, what is wrong with you guys!?😕

@hollowseal33......hm, moderaaaaaaaatooooor😳 😁

I honestly don't get which part of my post is making you so aggressive😕

I spent 16 years living in some tiny town of maybe 500 people—way out in the middle of nowhere, far from any major US city—and I have to admit, nothing else has hit me quite as hard as the memories this forum brings back

Damn it, nostalgia is a trip😢 😁

hm, does that rule apply to everyone? I mean—radical extremists can be pretty militant in their rhetoric, after all...😬?

I’ve actually never tried anything made from pumpkin—I was hunting for some at the farmer's market the other day to whip up a pie, but they were totally out

First time I'm ever hearing about this😲—as someone who is basically a fanatic when it comes to "spoonable food," I would love some details here!?!?

I mean, I’ve done spring zucchini casseroles before, but this whole "squash mashup" thing sounds like something else entirely🙂

5. Literally anything else.😁

They’re trying to disqualify me because of my beard and my boxing habit, but honestly? I couldn't care less. I'm just out here living my best life as the ultimate dream girl for guys like Timothy Jones85.

👎Nope, you aren't—and for the record, I'm not exactly a fan of facial hair either.🙂

Honestly? I couldn't care less about any of them... I actually tried to get into The Clash once—really gave it a shot—but there's just this massive gap between what I hear on the record and why the rest of the world thinks they're such a big deal. It just doesn't click for me.😛
