Jet or Darkness might be a struggle, but I’m eternally grateful for Polly, and for the Pixies, I owe everything to every saint in the Bible

Not really. If anything, there should probably be even more British bands on the list.🙂

coastalpanther43 said:Why the hell is "Radio Free Europe" being pushed when they had at least fifteen better singles?

And why "Fool's Gold" when The Stone Roses had at least ten superior tracks?

Why, just why?

🙂 🙂 😁

Total agreement here. Why "Song 2," arguably one of Blur's weakest offerings?
And why only "Where It's At" from Beck instead of "Loser"?
Or why just "Blue Monday" over "Regret" or "True Faith"?
We could keep this list going until tomorrow.

For instance: Massive Attack - "Daydreaming"

U2 feels pretty kuruza to me lately—at least for the last decade—but I still have a soft spot for them

for instance: Wilco - She's a Jar

The evolution of rock is rarely linear. It’s more like a slow decay, much like an old house in the Rust Belt. You look at the heavy hitters from the nineties—bands like Nirvana or even the technicality of Dream Theater—and you see the peak before the plateau. Then comes the commercial dilution. It’s all just noise meant to fill the silence of a dying era.

The List is alright, I suppose. Though, looking at it now, I can think of at least ten things that absolutely should have been included. They aren't there.

Good grief, I just realized I completely overlooked Hope Sandoval. My mistake.
An angelic voice!

Great female vocalists?
There are plenty, frankly.
For instance,

Björk—her voice gives me actual chills.

PJ Harvey—a voice that is... well, easily the most seductive in the industry.

Beth Gibbons—the kind of voice that could make a serial killer weep.

Natalie Merchant
Kim Deal
Tracy Thorn
Dinah Washington
Patti Smith
Macy Gray
And so on.

But Sarah Nixey remains my favorite. When I hear her, I just melt.

How could anyone overlook the ultimate icon: Mr. Frank Zappa
