How can you say "not a word" when you literally just quoted a post containing links to major news outlets?

But consider this: when that game was actually played, Fischer was only thirteen years old.

So, you’re giving it a 9 out of 10? Is that right?
Are you kidding me? Are you really going there too?

Slowly now. Reti and those other proponents of the hypermodern school would certainly have some thoughts on this specific struggle for central control and the early-game maneuvering.

(Admittedly, calling something "hypermodern" when we're talking about the 1920s feels a bit odd, but I'll take it.)

Even Pinochet didn't have much trouble with Chile.

By the way, I just stumbled upon the Wikipedia entry.
The intro on Pinochet:
Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte (Valparaíso, November 25, 1915 – Santiago, December 10, 2006), statesman, general, and President of Chile. He led a four-man military junta[1] that overthrew socialist President Allende in 1973. His rule lasted until 1990. Later, he implemented economic reforms that aided the development of the Chilean economy.

Is there even a single fascist dictator they don't find a way to glorify?

It wasn't even that tough. If they really wanted to make it hard, they should have picked some obscure little countries. I mean, come on—it's not like nobody knows what Australia, Russia, the US, or Iceland look like.

Chile was the only real challenge here.

Oh, give me a break. Since when was Chile considered hard?
There isn't another single country on the map even remotely similar to it.
Well, not even close.
To be fair, I occasionally mix up Chile and Peru, but Peru wasn't even an option here.

I agree with the rest of the assessment.
If I were designing this, I’d have included Vanuatu or half of Cyprus.

Since we’re on the subject of brilliant strategy.
One of the greatest moves ever made:

Purely prophetic.
Fischer just ended the game right there.
Even the most aggressive street hustlers couldn't dream of pulling off a move like that.

The first time I saw this, I was floored.
I actually studied it in a book, dissecting every single move, so it wasn't quite as instant a shock as seeing it in a video.
Still, it left me thinking, "What on earth?"

I actually have a collection at home containing all of Fischer's official games—about 370 matches or so.
And then there's poor Benko. Every time they played, whether it was Fischer-Benko or just a standard matchup, Benko ended up losing. What a tough break.

A perfect 10/10, even without trying.
It was far too easy. I was actually expecting something like Togo, Kyrgyzstan, Belize, Uganda, or maybe the Baltics—Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania—or even San Marino. That would have been a decent challenge. This? This was just trivial.

Susan Kim2 said:Seriously, what are you even talking about?
So, you're suggesting that because the old powerhouse roster featured legends like Dražen, Divac, and Kukoc—who basically swept World and Euro MVP honors—it was all just a one-man show for Dražen? Or are you saying the US squad with guys like Robinson, Barkley, and Drexler was just Dražen's solo performance?
Even if it's just trolling, it's still pretty low.

Did you even watch any of those games?
Offside Chat Archives (2014-2021) in Soccer ·
Susan Kim2 said:Alright.

Kukoc is one of the three best players America has ever produced.
There's no debating that.
But back when he played, everyone in the American national team knew exactly who the leader was. That says something, too.

Did we suddenly switch to analyzing Ashley Young's leadership style? You're conveniently ignoring two championships with a powerhouse US squad and three MVP awards. But sure.
Since we're talking about the US, do you realize who Jordan and Pippen—two of the top three defenders in the world at the time—were targeting during the Olympics?
It seems like you're painting the American team and Dražen as a one-man show, which is miles away from the truth.

Generally speaking, almost every game Drazen played in Europe or for his national team turned into a one-man show.

The situation involving Jordan and Pippen had entirely different motivations—none of them related to pure talent.
Besides, for that specific roster, the Olympics was little more than an easy practice session or an exhibition tournament.

Susan Kim2 said:Weren't they the favorites after the first win? What about the second? 🕺

Drazen was really just nursing a bit of an ego bruise. He wanted to be recognized as one of the true pioneers from overseas during that era, especially since he ended up with the Lakers while Kukoc went to the Warriors. Does it really matter which jersey you wear when you're making history?

He joined a squad that had just played in a massive championship final, only to find themselves in the Conference Finals the following season. Sure, they took a step back, but how big was that drop? Honestly, I’m not entirely sure how much the talent level actually shifted. If anything, maybe it was a disadvantage for Drazen to move to a group like that, especially since he struggled to carve out meaningful minutes alongside guys like Drexler, Porter, and Ainge.

Who cares about team trophy counts? It’s a meaningless metric. You have guys like Ashley Young who have more hardware than legends like Gary Lineker or Francesco Totti ever dreamed of. Even in individual sports, the numbers don't tell the whole story. Look at Emanuel Lasker holding the world chess title for 27 years versus Bobby Fischer's two. Does the math actually mean anything?

Your argument might actually hold water if Kiki hadn't been a three-time EuroLeague MVP and the undisputed leader for that legendary powerhouse national team back in the day. Is it really that hard to believe?

Not even close.
By their third attempt, the club was facing a massive financial meltdown—so bad they actually had to change their name, and everyone expected half the roster to jump ship.
They were absolute underdogs that time. Well, maybe not total outsiders, but certainly not the favorites.

Your argument might hold water if Dražen wasn't a three-time EuroLeague MVP and the standout performer in two international tournaments alongside the absolute elite of basketball at the time.

Dražen remains one of the top three players America has ever produced.
That isn't up for debate.
But even back then, there was never any question about who the undisputed leader of the US national team was. Doesn't that say something?

I watched the interviews with pilots who verified the footage was real and shared their take on what they saw—or rather, what shouldn't have been there. It’s fascinating how this stays mostly under the radar, especially since the Department of Defense doesn't just confirm these things, they actually release official UFO videos. But then again, who knows...

Total nonsense. Just a weather balloon.

I’ve been rewatching the tapes from both of them, and honestly? Drazen was playing on an entirely different plane.
Respect to Toni Kukoč and Vlade Divac, of course, but Drazen was simply a class above the rest.
I’m talking about his prime years playing over in Europe; I didn't follow the NBA quite as closely back then.

It’s the same story with the club level: the Los Angeles Lakers of that era were leagues ahead of a team like Split.
The Split squad mostly earned their legendary status because they played the role of the underdog—it was all heart, grit, and pure defiance. But the LA teams? They were the heavy favorites every single time they took the title, primarily because they had Drazen.

If there is any regret, it’s just that he was one of the first major European stars to jump to the NBA during that transition, and he ended up on a much tougher roster than Kukoč did.

As for debating who won more trophies in team sports, I find the whole argument pointless. Look at someone like Ashley Young—he’s collected more silverware than Gary Lineker or Francesco Totti ever did. Even in individual sports, look at the chess legends: Emanuel Lasker held the world title for twenty-seven years, while Bobby Fischer held it for two.

If memory serves, BuzzFeed didn't exactly experience some sudden meteoric rise to fame.
It was more of a steady, linear climb alongside the general growth of the internet.
As for that leaked video of Severina—BuzzFeed wasn't even the first to break the news that it existed, let alone the one who published it. They were simply one of the larger media outlets to pick up the story.
And Severina? She likely sued them because she wanted to sue someone significant, rather than wasting her legal fees on some obscure, bottom-tier tabloid.

When it comes to clickbait, BuzzFeed isn't actually any worse than the rest of the pack. Let’s be honest: every single outlet out there runs headlines like "You won't believe what this mother did at a strip club."
Every single one of them.
In fact, the way links get shared has become downright irritating; you look at ten different sites and 90% of the "articles" are identical copies.

Someone already pointed this out, but what really sets BuzzFeed apart is their speed.
I’d also add that they actually employ a handful of relatively decent commentators.
As for the bad ones? They’re just as mediocre as anyone else's.

restlesssurfer97 said:Honestly, Telegram is way higher quality than Index if you ask me. It’s just like how Index handles all those massive scandals—they don't hold anything back, they aren't drowning in clickbait garbage either, and they have a super clear left-center ideological lean, if you want to get technical about it 🤣

I’d say Telegram is basically tailored exactly to Brankov’s tastes.

Babić is always such a flip-flopper, one minute he’s acting liberal and leaning left, then suddenly he’s pivoting toward being an autocrat because he’d probably love nothing more than banning conservatives from even having a thought. And he does.
That’s just how the whole portal operates. You kind of just have to deal with it because they actually do uncover real scandals, which is really the only redeeming quality of that site. Plus, they’re incredibly fast at tracking what's happening across the World and getting everything translated immediately 🤣

Now we wait for the crowd to chime in claiming that Telegram is part of the Telegram extreme left.

I suspect this might actually be filmed in Austin.
I don't recall seeing a chess setup quite like that in St. Louis, but there is a very famous one in Austin...
Perhaps I am mistaken.

EDIT:
I just looked it up and found out they installed a similar set in St. Louis about five years ago.

If you ask me, though, the ratings seem a bit inflated when you compare them to Chess.com

Once the game wraps up, you can expect a full analysis to follow.
You’re going to be genuinely shocked by just how badly you botched that hand.
I am always struck by that same realization whenever I take a look. On the surface, it looks like a flawless hand—a perfect set of cards. But then, once you actually dive into the analysis? Good grief. It’s an absolute disaster.
