Well, welcome to the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Mad Max. In a world like that, even old rags can be worth a fortune, wouldn't you agree?

Well, you’ll find out... Or maybe you won't, depending on what exactly you decide to do about it...

If anyone actually mastered putting out fires with a fire extinguisher, it’d be Vettel. 🤣

From what I could gather watching, it honestly looks like he’s got zero experience under his belt. :coffee:😬

I can't help but feel like the safety protocols at the track aren't quite up to par if there's actually a risk of racing fuel igniting. Is it just me, or does it seem like that was why Vettel shut everything down, only to find he couldn't get the fire extinguisher bottle to trigger? It makes you wonder if that guy stepped in just to "show him how it's done."

It doesn't just tank your performance; you end up staring at an "insufficient video RAM" error message before being left with nothing but a black screen until you manually restart the application or maybe even reboot Windows altogether.

Working within the Adobe ecosystem really opens up such a massive range of possibilities, doesn't it? Whether you're diving into heavy photo manipulation, complex video editing, or intense post-production work, the hardware demands change quite a bit. If you're aiming to tackle 4K video, having as much video RAM as possible is definitely the way to go, especially when you start dealing with 6K or 8K source footage—which seems to be becoming the standard more often than not. Even high-resolution projects in Photoshop can get pretty hungry for VRAM if you want to take advantage of GPU acceleration. Since you mentioned wanting a card that will "last" for several years, I have to point out that five years is actually an incredibly long time given how fast technology moves these days
While there's a strong argument to be made for leaning toward AMD, sticking with NVIDIA is generally considered the Safer bet.
Just like the Old West used to be. Yeehaw!
Honestly, I’d much rather see them driving like they’re walking on eggshells if that’s the only way to ensure things don't go sideways like this. Even with more cautious driving, we’d still see action—drivers would fall asleep at the wheel, positions would shift, and points would change just the same. We might lose the essence of pure racing, but at least we get a show, right?

Michael Jackson10 said:So, I was feeling pretty useless today, so I figured: why not? Let's put everything down on paper—stuff I haven't even actually done yet—just to see how all the pieces fit together. Any sense in that?
When I’m picking out gear for work, I always look at the cost of supplies first. Then it's all about how tough the machine actually is. There's an old rule of thumb when it comes to HP: if you're buying for a business, don't even touch a laser printer unless it has a built-in fan and weighs a massive amount. That's what real hardware looks like. Everything else? Those are just glorified toasters for your house. I already know that my toner from... $73 You could easily knock out two boxes of Navigator—that's like 5,000 sheets right there. I’m definitely grabbing the premium stuff on purpose, though. Why bother with cheap paper when you can avoid all those annoying jams? You'll also need enough toner to cover 5,000 sheets of standard office prints, maybe even more if you're feeling ambitious. Ready to get to work?

So, I was chatting with a buddy of mine who runs an IT services firm, and he gave me the inside scoop on how these government and public sector contracts actually work. It’s wild. They aren't even looking at performance, really. It all comes down to aesthetics—the color of the gear, having fancy little touchscreens, and making sure the printer duty cycles look good on paper. Oh, and they always need enough ink to print that official seal a few times a year. It’s basically a massive setup to push high-end hardware that uses the priciest consumables possible. If you can lock them into proprietary supplies instead of cheap third-party alternatives, you're golden. You get a customer for life who ends up paying ten times the initial equipment cost just through toner and ink. TCO versus ICO? It’s a total racket.

So, I was just thinking about how realistic that estimate actually is regarding this whole scam. He caught on to the equipment trick, right? But honestly, if you switch over to generic supplies, the savings could easily be double what he’s guessing. Sure, you lose the warranty if you go that route—but hey, just keep one original cartridge tucked away for service calls... I mean, who really cares?
Either you're just blowing through public funds like it's nothing—everything looks legit on paper, clean receipts and all—but does anyone actually look at how much is being wasted? I mean, seriously, what kind of operation needs to print 360 color pages every single day? Or even worse, if they start swapping in those cheap third-party toners, we're looking at 1,360 pages daily. Who actually needs that much?

Of course they’re printing promo stuff, party flyers, graduation projects, and theses. I mean, who actually keeps a printer like that sitting at home? They aren't exactly clueless. When you have access to everyone else's gear, computers, and basically all the time in the world at the office... not to mention just asking a buddy to handle it for you? It's a no-brainer.

I’m old school through and through. I stick with HP and Epson, and lately, I’ve been trying out a Xerox—though honestly, it hasn't been much of a hit. I’ve never touched a Brother in my life. Because of that, I'm kind of in the dark about who actually handles repairs around here. Isn't it better to just find a reliable local repair shop? If you're even willing to deal with all that hassle, that is. $0.33 Nobody sane wants to deal with repairs anymore... right?

I ran had the exact same issue with my printer (it started by pulling from two trays at once, then just kept slipping). Turns out it was the pickup roller. It sits right above the paper tray, basically "grabbing" the sheets to pull them in. The rubber needs this specific, slightly textured pattern to grip properly, but over time, that texture just wears smooth. When I was desperate, I actually took it off, gave it a deep clean, and roughed it up a bit with some sandpaper just to get by. It works for a while, but eventually, you're stuck. Repair shops hate selling these parts, and finding them elsewhere is a nightmare. You end up hunting on eBay, where the prices swing wildly from basically nothing to absolutely insane.

Basically, here’s the drill: pull out the tray, pop the toner out, and open up all the covers. If you can, blow out the whole printer—it gets packed with all this fine paper dust. Then, grab a damp cloth with some dish soap and wipe down every single transport roller you can find. You should also look up how to take off the pickup roller online; give it a deep clean. If it feels too smooth where it grabs the paper, you can lightly roughen it up with some sandpaper, though honestly, just grabbing a replacement is probably smarter. Next, hunt down the separation pad—they come in different styles, but it's usually some little plate part of the tray mechanism—and clean that too. Don't forget to wipe the dust off the tray itself and check if the mechanism is working right (especially if there are springs involved). Finally, try a different type of paper—maybe something smoother, thicker, or just higher quality.
There's plenty on YouTube if you're feeling brave enough to DIY this...

Thanks for the advice. I think I’ll need to set aside some dedicated time to really get under the hood and understand all the "internal organs" of this thing before I call in a pro, especially since it wasn't exactly cheap. Everything ran smoothly for ten years without a single hiccup, and then suddenly—bam, it just gave out. My apologies again for getting a bit off-topic earlier.

Are the Regulations actually written such that a race is considered fully valid if it doesn't feature a single lap under SC, even when points are being handed out? Is that really how it works?

@Michael Jackson10: My Brother laser printer is constantly jamming on me; it keeps pulling two sheets at once and then the second one just gets stuck. Does anyone know who I should contact about this? I'm being completely serious.

Sorry if this is off-topic. Or maybe it isn't...

Dual GPU setup for rendering? in Hardware ·
Betty Nelson3 said:After sticking with the same setup for X years, I finally decided it was time to overhaul my video editing rig. Here’s what I picked up:

Intel Core i9
ASUS ROG
Corsair Vengeance
Nvidia RTX 4000 8 mb

Right now, the machine is still running an old Nvidia GeForce GTX. Once I swap everything out, I have a bit of a question:
Is it actually possible to pair these two cards so they work together on specific rendering tasks—like Optical flow—where programs such as Handbrake lean heavily on the GPU? If that's a thing, how would I go about setting that up on this motherboard?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can throw my way.

In theory, you could pull that off using OpenCL mode. You might want to download LuxMark just to see how they perform individually versus how they behave when they're working together.
"Rendering" is such a broad term, isn't it? What software are you actually using? It sounds to me like you might be talking about Adobe Premiere Pro, especially if you're looking at Optical flow, where the RTX card will likely carry most of the weight on its own.

They were breaking it down on Sky Sports, suggesting he might have had some braking issues and just ended up diving into that gap at the apex instead.

I actually sat down to watch All about Eve this morning, though I can't help but think a remake should probably be titled All about Lewis.

Didn't anyone bother to actually check the track conditions?😵

Do you mean they *left* them on? I mean, obviously they aren't allowed to swap tires while the red flag is flying, right?

Oh man, it’s actually kind of pathetic how they on Sky always cut to shots of the crowd cheering whenever Lewis Hamilton pulls something off, almost like they're filming a canned sitcom. Is that really how much they need to manufacture excitement? It honestly feels pretty desperate.

How does the saying go: Is the Maestro slapping the fraud?
It looks like the images have vanished from SK. Must be some kind of censorship, apparently they aren't suitable for anyone under twelve.

I feel like I'm still missing about 15 minutes here31 miles. If you count those 15 minutes after the race, it brings us right up to an hour, just like qualifying. Right now, my schedule feels a little sparse and rushed, doesn't it?
