Well, why didn't you just say so right from the start?😁 Fine then... I guess I'll just go meditate until midnight rolls around...🙄

So, I see that Arthur Anderson10 finally pulled the trigger on that 32" AOC monitor over at the Mall of America...

Personally, once I jumped up to a 32-inch screen, everything else started feeling way too small for me.

Yeah, I definitely realized that... the PPI is pretty much identical. Since I’m sitting at a comfortable distance from my current 23-inch setup, I don't notice any screen door effect, so maybe it's doable? Being nearsighted, I can't really lean in closer than about 28 inches anyway before things start getting blurry... plus, the width of this monitor is exactly the same as my desk.😬

P.S. somehow I managed to skip over your first post. My work involves editing, color grading, and post-production, and honestly, having that workflow window open in San Francisco is starting to feel a bit limiting.

When it comes down to resolution or pixel density, most users won't find much to complain about. Whether it's 27-inch 1080p or 32-inch 1440p, there isn't much of a headache there, and for the vast majority of people, having a significantly larger screen is usually the much better way to go.🍿

Thanks. That last part is actually the most important thing for me.

Looking at the link you shared, if by backlight bleed you're referring to IPS glow, then I suppose I should expect that as a standard feature. My primary goal is simply getting more "real estate" for my editing software, provided that the color of the full-screen preview doesn't shift too drastically at different angles, which is what IPS typically offers at this size. As far as color accuracy goes, I shouldn't have an issue since I own a colorimeter, so I can always dial back the gamut or push it further depending on the specific project requirements.

I currently have a 40-inch 4K MVA TV, but because of the way the stand is designed, it won't fit directly in front of me on my desk; instead, it sits at a 90-degree angle to my right, and even from that position, I lose a lot of color precision in the corners due to the VA panel.

I just received an email from the local Mall about a promotion on a 32" monitor, and it expires at midnight tonight:

If I apply the coupon, the price ends up being $486...which looks pretty good to me. Most of the specs hit the mark—specifically the color depth, the gamut, and the 75Hz refresh rate—but I am slightly concerned about the physical size and whether the pixels will be too noticeable. Has anyone here had much experience using a 32" 1440p resolution setup for professional work rather than gaming? I can sit about 3 feet away from the screen while still having easy access to my keyboard and mouse...

P.S. My other option for $533 would be this one:

It’s a 27" model (mainly because of the size), and it offers great ergonomics with tilt, swivel, and height adjustments, plus 4x USB 3.0 ports. However, it does have a smaller color gamut and only hits 60 Hz. Since I work with 25fps video, wouldn't that 75Hz on the other model (being a clean 3x25) actually serve me better?

I picked up Adobe Premiere Pro recently, and today I added a bundle containing Handbrake plus an HD Video Converter and Video Watermark to my toolkit.

It’s pretty clear that my processor is just too weak to handle this effectively.
I’m currently looking at a B450 motherboard paired with a Ryzen 1600 AF.
It seems like the most sensible way to go, and honestly, it would be a massive step up from what I’m struggling with right now.

???Well, my results aren't quite hitting your marks, mostly because you mentioned earlier that you can encode 16 hours of footage in about 7 hours—which is roughly twice as fast as real-time playback—whereas I’m not even hitting 1.5x faster than playback 🤷 (though we have to account for scaling down from 4K to 2K, don't we?)...but if you're feeling the itch to upgrade, those 1600 series chips are such a great value, and in terms of synthetic performance, they are in a completely different league compared to what I have...personally, I use DaVinci Resolve for my editing, where almost everything relies on the GPU, so having a top-tier processor isn't necessarily the make-or-break factor.

If I can trust Best Buy, the price looks pretty solid. It supposedly uses the exact same panel as that AOC model, though there's some talk about it having a slightly narrower color gamut or something along those lines.
What are your thoughts?
Is it worth dealing with Best Buy just to save a few bucks on this $67?
And does that five-year warranty mentioned by the shop actually come from the manufacturer, or is it just through the retailer?

Personally, I think it’s a good deal; it features some HDR capabilities, likely hitting around 300 nits with 99% sRGB coverage, so I'm not quite sure where you heard the color range was smaller:

@Edward Thompson86/">@@Edward Thompson86: Let me break it down for you—I’m running an Intel Core i5-7600K paired with an NVIDIA GTX 1060, and I just ran a test by pulling a 4K movie into the Adobe Premiere Elements converter, setting the output resolution to 1920x1080 and using the H.265/HEVC profile via Intel Hardware encoding... For a two-hour film, it estimates about 1 hour and 25 minutes of encoding time at a conversion speed of roughly 35 fps... My CPU is hitting about 55% usage with all cores active, while the GPU video encoding sits at around 25%... Looking at these numbers, I don't really see how much of a massive difference upgrading to newer hardware would actually make, because it feels like the real bottleneck is tucked away somewhere in the software itself... I did notice there's a Pro version of Adobe Premiere Elements that supports GPU compute, which might give you a nice little boost since the GPU could handle the scaling tasks... Is it worth dropping $21 to see if it helps, even if it turns out to be a bit of a wash compared to the cost of buying an entirely new rig? Or, perhaps you could just try some other free options like DaVinci Resolve, Handbrake, or Avidemux...

@batmenbg: You can actually leverage the Nvidia HW encoder (NVENC) available on your GTX 1050:

If you aren't utilizing that and you find the quality and speed to be sufficient, there might not be any need to change your setup at all—it really just depends on whether VSDC is relying on your GPU or your CPU to handle scaling from 4K down to 2K. Even the most powerful processors struggle to keep pace with a dedicated hardware encoder when it comes to raw speed. Is it possible that the scaling process is what's actually bottlenecking you? Why not check your CPU usage and see where it stands?

Arthur Anderson10 said:On my previous post, I shared a few thoughts regarding the Dell SE2719HR IPS led monitor.

If you're looking for a monitor specifically for professional work, I honestly think you might need to stretch your budget a bit more? I spent ten days testing out five or six different models, and I just couldn't find exactly what I was searching for.
When it comes to the Della model, it actually had much better color reproduction than any of the others I tested, though I did wonder if the colors were perhaps a little too saturated; would that end up being an issue for you if you require perfectly realistic color accuracy?
Some people mention issues with glowing or ghosting—whatever the technical term is—but if you're using this for office tasks, does that really matter?

IPS glow is almost unavoidable when viewing from an angle with most panels. What really matters is that when you're sitting directly in front of the screen—especially with a larger size like 27"—you don't see any shifting in color toward the edges, which is a common problem with other panel types. And if this is for professional work, you should definitely aim for at least QHD resolution for a 27" display.

Check this one out, it looks like a great option: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/monitor-deals

Edward Thompson86 said:What kind of Intel processor would be the best fit for my setup? I'm trying to figure out what I should pick up to get everything running smoothly. Have you ever stopped to wonder about the complex dance behind video encoding and decoding? It’s one of those invisible processes that we all take for granted, yet it’s essentially the backbone of everything we consume on our screens today. When we talk about taking raw footage and compressing it into something manageable—that's the encoding side of things—we're really talking about a delicate balancing act between file size and visual fidelity. It makes you think, doesn't it? How much data can we actually strip away before the image starts to fall apart? Then, on the flip side, you have the decoding process, where your hardware takes those compressed bits and reconstructs them into a smooth, playable stream in real-time. It’s a pretty incredible feat of engineering when you consider how much heavy lifting your CPU and graphics card are doing just so you can watch a movie without a hitch.
I’m currently running an Nvidia GTX 1050 paired with an older Intel processor, and honestly, things have started feeling pretty sluggish lately. I've been thinking about upgrading my CPU and motherboard, but I'm stuck on whether it's actually worth ditching my current graphics card too. If I could manage to hold onto the GPU, that would be ideal, but if you all think it's necessary to upgrade that as well, what would you recommend? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Which software are we talking about exactly, since the answer really hinges on how much it leans into multithreading? And if you don't mind me asking, what's the specific end goal here—not that it's a secret, of course, but knowing the actual purpose helps determine just how much emphasis we need to place on quality?

Dennis Lopez11 said:Hey everyone, I'm currently rocking an old LG (FLATRON L222WS-BN) alongside an AOC (M2470SWH), both mounted on VESA stands.
I've been working in web design for a while now, and I constantly run into issues with color accuracy.
What I see during my design process looks completely different when viewed on other screens.
I've finally decided it might be time to invest in something actually high-quality.
If anyone has any advice, please let me know. 🙂

It’s never going to feel perfectly consistent because most other monitors out there are subpar or uncalibrated. You have to deal with laptops that have tiny color gamuts, or monitors with massive gamuts that lack proper color profiles or are just running in native mode. Honestly, the best move you can make is to find a monitor that handles the sRGB gamut correctly and has solid reviews regarding its color reproduction.

Maybe start by searching online for an IPS panel in a size and price range that works for you? Once we narrow down some options, we can look closer at which one gets closest to being ideal. You'd be surprised how often some budget-friendly models actually perform quite well when it comes to colors.

"There is absolutely no reason to cancel anything, especially since we're dealing with a small group of people and we have taken every single precaution regarding safety and security," stated Andrej Plenković, the Republican leader and American Prime Minister.

Yes, I caught the news this morning right after I posted my last thought... and honestly, I still can't help feeling a little disappointed that we likely won't witness a direct, heated verbal showdown between these two giants of patriotic ideology before things wrap up.

Andrew Robinson said:So, according to what was just being said on ABC, some guy mentioned that Andrej Plenković pulled out of the debate on PBS—they’re supposedly looking at one more backup date, though honestly, who knows if that won't be canceled too...

I don't know, when you start counting up all the guests, the camera operators, the sound engineers, the directors, and the assistants, you aren't looking at a group of 100 people. Why would a televised debate in such a controlled environment suddenly fall through? It feels a bit too much like they are just stalling for time before the election... how convenient, wouldn't you say?

Alkar Flegma is right in the middle of it all. If we look at how internal party conflicts play out in the USA, they usually seem confined to those smaller local news stations.
Personally, I think they should be featured on every major national network, including the big commercial ones. It would have been much easier if they had simply coordinated with the local stations that already do such a decent job covering territory across the country to ensure the debate is broadcast simultaneously—something they actually already do, including over in Bujancet.

Jose Collins86 said:That is all well and good, but I fail to see what benefit is being served here. Under the leadership of Andrej Plenković, the Republican Party lost the presidential election to a left wing that has never been weaker, and they managed to pull off their worst performance in history during the European elections—hitting a mere 22 percent, which is even lower than what Jadranka Kosor achieved. Plenković is so remarkably incompetent (regardless of how much the leftist media regime praises him) that he is uniquely capable of allowing the Democratic Party to take first place. No one else could have managed such a feat. Even if Rojs were at the helm of the Republican Party, they would have garnered more votes than Berin’s Democrats.

What kind of personal gain is there through party membership while holding onto power—do you really think anything else matters to most of the rank and file? A victory for Kovač or Stier doesn't guarantee that this specific model will be successfully carried on or sanctioned, whereas Plenković stays firmly in his seat by simply turning a blind eye to all the little "misdeeds" happening around him. Of course, things will stay exactly like this as long as he manages to secure a safe, comfortable position within the European Union institutions.

Jose Collins86 said:Indeed, these internal party elections are the single most critical event for Democrats and the left wing. Without their financial backing, Andrej Plenković won't have a shot at power for the next century. The only hope they have to maintain a grand coalition is through the "moderate, polite, perfectly groomed, highly educated Plenković who speaks sixteen languages."

I wish you’d throw a little more shade their way. But honestly, much to the disappointment of the right, that’s exactly how it’s going to play out. When Republicans are forced to choose between following their hearts or chasing pure self-interest, isn't it always going to be the interest that wins out?

Lisa Perez50 said:Even the Republicans want a seat at the table on CNN. I guess any airtime is good airtime, right? Stier mentioned there might be a debate this Saturday.
It’s definitely not happening on FOX, because you know Damir Gregoret would just be asking Kovač which network they're actually on. Maybe it's NBC, though I highly doubt it. Or maybe it's PBS or CNN. ☕

It’s true that Republican officials tend to pop up everywhere these days, but since the average voter isn't really paying close attention, does it even matter in the end? That seems to be the only thing that counts here...
