Man, who could ever forget how Matoševićev held down that defense in the 2003 semifinals against the Spanish squad just to force overtime! 🙂 A total crime!
Look, this flick was purely for the hell of it. I just sat down, watched it, and honestly? It was a blast. No expectations, no nothing, just pure mindless fun.
Can we change Andrew Flores7 to TriggerRa? This hyphen looks terrible now that the handle's been verified.
Sure thing, just hit up Sash.
Honestly, he’s one of those heavy hitters for me. The guy just has this vibe, you know? Pure charisma. One of my absolute favorites of his has to be Unforgiven, especially since he’s sharing the screen with legends like Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman.
If anyone else is obsessed with that voice of his, you seriously need to check out Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman. It’s a killer documentary series where he does the narration. Pretty fascinating stuff.
Honestly, Denzel is one of those rare African American actors I’ll actually sit down and watch without hesitation.
I’m really feeling these ones:
- Fallen
- American Gangster
- Training Day
- Remember the Titans
- The Hurricane
Joseph Myers26 said:So, here’s my current take... I’ve already binged the sequel twice in just one week—and watched the first one once too!—and honestly, I am officially hooked on Brazilian cinema. I just finished watching City of God, and now I'm planning to dive into the Bus 174 documentary next.
Does anyone have any solid recommendations for other great Brazilian films? Ideally something from more recent years, and maybe something where the subtitles aren't a total nightmare to track down? 🙂 👍I’d really appreciate the help!
City of Men is pretty recent—it's a decent flick, though maybe not quite hitting the same heights as City of God or Bad Boys II, but still worth a watch.

they finally hit the US too...
Finally got around to watching the first part myself. Honestly? Solid 8/10. It’s definitely not the greatest thing ever made, but man, compared to the garbage they’re pumping out these days, it feels pretty damn refreshing. 👍
honestly this is just getting ridiculous at this point. like if you actually know any English, at least read the parts I bolded... and if you don't, well, even better. i'm out.
Let me just lay this out one more time so we’re on the same page... if you honestly think an action flick is the same thing as a documentary, then there's really no point in us even talking. Like, what else am I supposed to explain?
Bus 174 -> The documentary covers the whole incident through various interviews, centering on Sandro do Nascimento—basically looking at his upbringing and how he was pretty much destined to end up a criminal from the start.
Tropa -> Two childhood friends decide to enlist in LAPD. After trying to balance their police work with college classes, they both decide... Two childhood friends decide to enlist in LAPD. After balancing their police work and college, they both make up their minds to audition for a Special Forceswhose mission is to take down the drug-lords that plague the city. Both guys are just trying to stay alive, dealing with the constant grind of domestic pressure while fighting a nameless war on the streets.

Come on, think about it—the granular details aren't even the point here. Have you actually noticed the connection between Bus 174 and Bad Boys yet? Just give it some thought,
In Bus 174, the whole premise is this gritty, documentary-style look at how untrained the local police force is, alongside the brutal reality facing impoverished kids in the slums. Bad Boys covers essentially the same ground, just presented in a much more stylized, cinematic way.
See, when I actually sit back and think, Rambo is basically just a sequel to Rocky... I just can't tell where the fiction ends and reality kicks in... 👍
I mean, obviously, the entire documentary is about SWAT??? And there are maybe a few scattered lines about life on the streets, social issues, poverty 🙄 ...blah, blah, whatever, and that's it for a two-hour doc, and now we're supposed to just say both movies are the same.
The only actual thing those two films share is how incompetent and corrupt the cops are at stopping crime... everything else is night and day.
You're mixing up what regular police are and what SWAT does. 😉
btw, it's all in the details, which you would probably remember if you actually paid attention to the documentary.
Nicole Bailey6 said:There isn't, except for the fact that the exact same Bopa killed him for no reason the moment he stepped off the Bus. We all saw it happen!!! You clearly didn't watch Bus 174, did you? And where are these supposed conversations with actual bandits or homeless kids running through the whole thing, let alone with the cops? Apples and oranges? Please. It’s obvious you haven't even seen the documentary, otherwise you wouldn't be posting such absolute nonsense.
@ neonscout7 You didn't watch the documentary either, did you?
that's not right, looks like you're the one who missed the documentary 🙄 , that idiot who missed him by six inches behind his back when he got off the bus was just spooked because he realized the kid was behind him, then he killed that girl, and later the police killed him in a patrol car/van that isn't shown in the doc... man, just watch it again before you come at me😉
edit: still... in the documentary, the poor kid is just some street urchin, a bandit, a thief, a homeless kid from the streets... in Bad Boys, the plot revolves around SWAT fighting organized gangs (big players, drugs, business) in the slums and dealing with corrupt cops. If you think they're the same thing, good for you.
And tell me, where else is there a Bus 174 situation with SWAT, constant gunfire, and organized gangs running the streets? Honestly, if you think you're comparing apples to oranges, that’s on you...
Bus 174 is basically a straight-up documentary, as far as I can tell—there aren't even any actors in it. Bad Boys is a movie with actual actors, just like CoG, where the whole plot is pure fiction... if the themes feel similar, that’s just because they hired the same crew to make them. It's honestly pretty dumb to try and compare a documentary to a work of fiction.
This movie is playing at the Art House Cinema in Seattle right now. You seriously need to go see it.
It’s honestly pretty stupid trying to compare a documentary like Bus 174—which is, let's be real, a total masterpiece—to movies like Bad Boys II or CoG. Like, both of those films are objectively solid; the critics loved them, the audiences loved them, and personally? I think they're great. But at the end of the day, who likes what is just a matter of personal taste, isn't it? It's not even a fair fight.
you totally messed up this thread, and btw... "you're playing like the Kansas City Chiefs from hell" 🤣
😂😂😂😂
Man, seriously? Now we’ve got this "True Cleveland resident" thing going on alongside the other one... I had no clue. Honestly, I’m calling on all NON-Clevelanders to please explain this nonsense to me. I guess it’s only okay if you’re a "real American," especially those folks from down South—you know, the immigrants, the folks from the Midwest, everyone else... though, obviously, you all need to be super highly educated to even judge who qualifies as a "True Cleveland resident" (just ask some of those old-school parents, you don't have to look any further). Oh, and let's not forget the pure-blooded Floridians (who actually started this whole lie, which reminds me of how people used to spin things back in the day—just repeat a lie a thousand times and suddenly it’s the truth... pathetic, really, but hey, here we are... probably because they didn't cry enough for the previous administration).
😂😂😂😂
Shout out to all the "True Cleveland residents" out there, wherever you ended up.😂 😂
