I went with local-plus option before and it was totally fine. 😁 Don't sweat the details too much—you might be aware of things happening for tiny stretches of time, but you won't actually feel a thing. Honestly, I think local is better for the recovery side of things too. No nausea, you're breathing on your own right away, no nasty sore throat from a tube, etc. Your doctor will walk you through the whole deal anyway.😉
Jeffrey Parker42 said:Hey, so I had nose surgery about two weeks ago—septoplasty and reshaping—and honestly, the initial recovery was smooth enough. Breathing is way better, but the new look? That’s the issue. I guess I finally get why people say "don't expect miracles." I'm wondering if I decide to go back for a touch-up, how many months should I wait? I'm thinking about heading up to Seattle this time. I heard about the Zambelli clinic, so does anyone have experience there? Any idea what their pricing looks like??
Not sure how much this helps, but you might be jumping the gun a bit. After two weeks, my nose looked nothing like itself—I was totally bummed out by the results. Fast forward four months, and it actually looks amazing. Just hang in there; your tissue went through a lot of trauma, and it needs time to settle into its final shape. 😉
James Kelly49 said:So, here goes nothing—trying this again. I'm 16 and dealing with a deviated septum. Just finished my exams and rhinometry, and after looking at the results, Dr. Zlatko Kljaic recommended surgery—so I’m in. I went to set everything up at the Mayo Clinic, though honestly, I'd rather just get it done back home in Chicago. The procedure is scheduled for September. They told me it'll be a week in the hospital and then two weeks resting at home. My big question is: will they actually shape the nose the way I want (making it smaller, getting rid of the bump, straightening it out), or are they strictly just fixing the deviation? Thanks.
Why don't you just ask your doctor? I highly doubt they'll change anything unless you specifically tell them to. 🤷
Maybe, though honestly—it really just depends on your surgeon. A buddy of mine had his stitches fall out on their own after maybe three or four weeks. Generally speaking, it doesn't hurt... too much. 😁 The middle stitch came out after about a week (I did some digging online and I think that's the columella 🤷)—you barely even feel it. But those side ones near the nasal bridge hadn't fully healed yet, so she left them in for another week, then pulled them out without any drama. You get a little bit of a pulling sensation, but seriously, it’s nothing major. 😉
Bond—is your bond too much of a hassle? If that’s what you’re worried about, don't sweat it. It took about a month before things finally started settling down for me, and now I'm totally fine. 😉
Look, if he told you not to, then just don't. You aren't missing out on anything. Honestly, I didn't even start my own routine until after I dealt with removing the molds myself. As for taking the molds off—I can't really compare it to pulling out a tampon because, frankly, neither one ever hurt me. 😁 It’s mostly just going to feel weird when it starts "unsticking" from your nose, but it really doesn't sting.
rapidbadger7 said:Glad things went well for you! From what I've been reading, most people have had positive experiences and say the pain wasn't too bad... I wouldn't call mine unbearable, but let's just say it was definitely more intense than I anticipated. It's day three now and already feeling a bit better... though I've got this constant stinging sensation in my nose...
The main thing is that the worst is over—it's all downhill from here. 😉 Hmm... I don't recall any stinging, but man, that smell of blood and stitches—or whatever antiseptic they use—really got to me.
Maria Smith73 said:I accidentally took a tiny bump to the nose yesterday. Since I have a deviated septum and a broken bone there, I'm low-key freaking out that I might've messed up the healing—it really hurts right where the impact happened on the left side. It was a super minor hit, though.😢😢 I’ll give my doctor a call on Monday... It's been about 19 days since surgery. Honestly, trying to avoid even a light tap to the nose during those first 6 months is basically mission impossible.
If it was just a small, light bump, I wouldn't sweat it too much. 😉
Honestly, tilting my head back to knock back a drink was way easier than trying to suck anything through a straw while my nose was totally stuffed up—guess it just varies from person to person. 😁

It really depends on the doctor—every practice is different. In my experience, I had the choice between paying everything in cash or doing installments. But yeah, like someone else already mentioned, your best bet is just to ask the doctor directly.
wanderingnomad13 said:It’s been six weeks since my surgery—my nose looks great and everything is going smooth. Still a little swollen, but oh my God 😁 Anyway, I’ve got this tiny bump, kind of like a little grain, right in the middle of my nose. You can't really see it, but I can feel it if I touch it. Anyone dealt with this or know what it might be? Thanks so much😉
Dap. Me too. 😁 It’s been about two and a half months for me now, and I think it's actually shrinking. If I'm reading things right, it sounds like a bone callus (😕). It's not super obvious anymore, but I can still feel it under my finger—I can even catch it in a certain profile view. Maybe yours will settle down like mine did. 🤷
It’s been a full five weeks since my surgery—open technique, tip work, cartilage graft—and honestly? Zero progress on the swelling. My nose still looks blunt and huge, especially at the tip. I’m pretty bummed because looking at myself now, there hasn't been much of a transformation... I was really hoping things would shift after a month, but nope. Maybe it's just too early 🤷 But hey, five weeks is still a decent chunk of time...
Give it at least another few weeks. I’m over two months out and mine is still blunt, swollen, and just... off. The bruising is gone, sure, but otherwise, it's a slow crawl toward improvement every day. 😁
Don't rush it—you'll see people online saying their noses didn't actually settle down for a whole year.
Drew Perez11 said:I've got a broken bone and had surgery on my cartilage... and I only wear them when absolutely necessary.. 🙂 It's honestly so annoying that they didn't tell me anything specific about precautions after the surgery.. :S all I got was "just don't bump into things" ... as if I'm not smart enough to realize that.. :/
Pretty much useless, then. They told me right away because I showed up wearing prescription glasses. Whatever, just stop wearing them for a while and you'll be fine. 😉
darknomad18 said:I don't think that's exactly the brightest move. 🤷
👍 My doctor told me I shouldn't even touch glasses for at least three months—apparently, the cartilage is still too soft, and there's a risk the frames could actually leave permanent indentations on the side of my nose. But hey, who knows...
