Hello to everyone on this forum. I was wondering if perhaps someone here might have dealt with a situation similar to mine. About two years ago, I underwent surgery—a septorhinoplasty—because I had a deviated septum and found it quite difficult to breathe through my right nostril. While the functional aspect of my breathing has improved, I’ve been left with a significantly enlarged nasal turbinate on one side. The real issue, however, is the aesthetic outcome. My nose looks quite deformed; there are visible bumps where the nose meets the upper jaw, and the surgeon also trimmed the columella (if that's the correct term for the tissue at the tip of the nose), which makes the whole thing look unnatural, almost like a pig's snout. It’s particularly noticeable in bright daylight, which, I must admit, has been causing me a fair amount of psychological distress. I have sought out three different consultations so far, and I've received three entirely different opinions. One specialist suggested it's a bony callus, another mentioned that the lateral nasal bones are misaligned, and a third claimed it involves the jawbone itself. I suppose I am feeling rather lost and unsure of whose advice to trust. Has anyone successfully resolved a problem like this? If you could please reach out, I would be very grateful. Thank you.
Hi everyone! Up until now, I’ve mostly been sharing my frustrations regarding the doctor who caused me some issues with my nose, but I really feel the need to mention one particular surgeon whose work I have witnessed firsthand. He performed a truly flawless nasal surgery—his name is Vinko Borčić. And just so you know, he isn't part of a private practice; he works right in the hospital...
Nancy Perez62 said:Plavileptir, I just called his sister to double-check the appointment, and when I asked if the surgery was happening in Seattle, she said yes. Maybe you could try calling the office directly and asking her yourself.
Now I’m feeling a little confused myself... Is this your first time having nose surgery?
Nancy Perez62 said:I actually have a surgery scheduled with him in just a week. I went to see him for a consultation up in Seattle, and the procedure will take place there since that's where his practice is located. He might perform surgeries in San Francisco, but he definitely operates in Seattle, which is where—as far as I know—the other ladies from this forum who had surgery with him were treated.
Dear lady, I perform aesthetic surgery procedures in San Francisco. Since you are coming from Washington, D.C., we could certainly examine you in Seattle, or if it’s easier, you could just send me some photos of your nose—front view, side profile, three-quarter view, and one from underneath so I can clearly see the nostrils.
I’d really suggest checking in with your own doctor first. I mean, most of us here are just laypeople, even if I am dealing with something somewhat similar myself. I guess I'll probably know a bit more about my situation after my next appointment with this new physician—who, honestly, I'm really hoping can fix all the little mistakes my previous doctor made.
Thanks so much for the recommendation; I definitely value your input, especially since it's coming from someone with actual professional expertise in the field.

They seem to have tightened the rules on almost all medical services lately, so most things aren't covered anymore, even if you happen to have supplemental insurance... I suppose I'm wondering how one would even go about requesting a reconstructive procedure. For me, this would technically be my third time going under the knife.🙂
Oh man, I am so incredibly sorry to hear that. If you don't mind me asking, who was the surgeon that performed your second procedure?
Hello everyone, hope you're all doing well!😉 I have a quick question for the group. I was recently recommended to see Dr. Pegan over at the Vinogradska hospital for a secondary rhinoplasty, so I was wondering if anyone here has any insight or experiences regarding him; also, just to reiterate my previous inquiry, has anyone had surgery at the Gulić clinic? I'm feeling a bit hesitant about making a final choice because, well, my gut instinct definitely led me astray last time.😢
William Robinson80 said:I haven't actually gone through with the surgery yet, even though they wanted me to head straight in the following week after my checkup. I think I might seek out another doctor just to get a second opinion, you know? Who did you go to for your procedure? And do you happen to have any doctors you’d recommend for a consultation?
Dr. Smith performed my surgery, and he seemed incredibly professional—honestly, he had a demeanor very much like Jennifer Aniston. Just a quick question; is this going to be your first surgery, or are you having a revision done?
William Robinson80 said:Well, I actually went to see Dr. Uglešić at the Oakland medical center for an exam. I guess you don't have to wait too long for an appointment; he’s there every Wednesday, and if he isn't taking some time off for vacation, you can probably book a slot for this coming Wednesday already. From what I've gathered, he's quite a good doctor, though maybe he's just a bit of a man of few words. He tends to get through the examination pretty quickly and then that's that.
Hello there! Next month will mark two years since my first rhinoplasty. To be honest, I’m still dealing with the fallout from that procedure. My surgeon essentially gave me a nose that’s far too short; he cut away those little fleshy bits at the tip, which completely ruined the natural look of my profile. On top of that, he didn't properly lower the nasal bones to meet my facial structure, leaving me with these bumps on both sides of my nose. When doctors tell you that you just have "bony irregularities," I think they might be misleading you—at least, that's what the specialist I went to for a second opinion told me. She was quite blunt about how much the tip was botched... and so on. After finally accepting that my nose isn't going to magically reshape itself over time, and having spent $5000 that I painstakingly saved up for four years, I am now searching for a surgeon who actually has the skill to repair this damage. If you wouldn't mind, I would truly appreciate any information you might have; Has anyone here visited Dr. Uglešić at his private practice, or perhaps seen him at Oakland University Medical Center? If so, could you let me know what the wait time is like for a consultation? I am also curious if anyone has experience with Dr. Gulic (over at the Gulic Clinic, near Green Gold). Thank you all so much in advance for your help.

William Robinson80 said:Where did you have your first surgery? And did you go see Dr. Miller for a consultation?
I haven't actually seen Dr. Miller yet, though I am definitely planning to; from what I've gathered, he's quite the expert when it comes to corrective work, so I'm really hoping he might be able to help me out too. I guess I should ask, where did you end up having your procedure done?
Hi everyone... I have a quick question for you all; has anyone here had nose surgery performed by Dr. Smith? I'm curious about what your experiences were like. To be honest, my first procedure was a complete disaster and left me with a nose I'm really unhappy with, so now I'm looking for someone capable to step in and fix it.
darkmaker9 said:So, I wanted to share a bit of an update regarding my situation, though I should probably preface this by saying I’m certainly no medical expert—I guess I'm just sharing my own experience here. About nine months ago, I underwent surgery to correct a septal deviation. To be fair, my nose always looked quite nice; it’s small, straight, and doesn't have any bumps or anything like that. The only real issue was the deviation itself, which made breathing difficult and caused my nose to pull slightly to one side. Well, fast forward to today—about two and a half months post-op—and I’ve started noticing a bit of a dip or indentation right down the middle of my nose. It seems like it's actually making the tilt toward the side even more noticeable now. Interestingly enough, the indentation is appearing exactly on the side where the nose is deviating. I suppose we'll just have to see how things progress, but it's definitely something I've noticed lately. I’m planning on calling my surgeon to set up a follow-up appointment, but I wanted to reach out here first. Based on what you all have been through, does anyone have any idea what might be happening with my nose? It feels like there might be some sort of bone erosion or something similar going on. Honestly, I’m starting to panic a little because, between us, I really don't have the time or the means to go through an entire second surgery right now. 😢
Which doctor did you have your surgery with, Drew Perez11? I was just wondering, if you don't mind me asking.
Taylor Miller10 said:Hello there! I suppose I should check in here too, after such a long hiatus. Those who have been following this forum probably know all about the various struggles I've dealt with during and after my surgery. It has been a year and four months since the procedure. It was a septorhinoplasty. Because of constant sinus infections, I originally sought surgery, but I guess I let the doctor talk me into a little bit of "aesthetic enhancement" since my nose shape wasn't ideal to begin with. My primary care physician actually told me that right now, I look like I just stepped out of a boxing match. Well, if you can imagine that, you can probably picture how it actually looks! 😢 About a month ago, I went to the Mayo Clinic to get a second opinion and potentially discuss a revision surgery. I must say, the doctor there—carić—was incredibly kind. He mentioned that regarding the septoplasty, he would perform it immediately because the surgeon from my first operation didn't really fix anything. However, when it came to the cosmetic repair, he said there was no way he would try to fix something that someone else had already ruined, noting that my appearance was indeed compromised. I showed him photos from before the surgery, and he saw me in person as well... So, I guess I am just at a loss for what to do next. I can hardly look at myself in the mirror; my self-confidence is basically non-existent... I feel absolutely TERRIBLE. I don't have the funds for a private specialist right now, especially since I'm currently between jobs. Sometimes I just want to crawl out of my own skin because I was so impulsive; I shouldn't have trusted the doctor so easily when he promised I’d be even happier with my nose. Looking back at my old photos... my nose was actually perfect compared to this! 😢(((((
If anyone happens to know a doctor who is willing to take on revision cases through insurance, please let me know... I am honestly feeling quite desperate about my options. I even entered that giveaway for a rhinoplasty, but I didn't win.😢 I will offer a REWARD!!!!!! 😢((((((
WELCOME TO THE DISAPPOINTED CLUB.. Please believe me when I say you aren't alone. Around the same time as you, I also had nose surgery with a private specialist and fell for those exact same promises... I am actually planning to go to the Mayo Clinic for a second opinion as well, to see dr. Uglešić... I don't know what else to say except that I am so sorry, but please don't give up. There has to be a solution somewhere.... hang in there.🙂
