Creating a dedicated tennis subforum in Feedback & Suggestions ·

But honestly, I can see us hitting a peak for the first two or three months before everything settles down into just two or three main threads.
We could at least give it a shot—move all these specific topics (like "ATP/WTA," the Grand Slams, and all those endless debates about players being soft versus being hard-hitters) over to that new subforum. If the experiment flops, it’s no big deal; we can just move the threads back to Other Sports and scrap the Tennis section altogether.😁

Every 2-3 months, we get a new Grand Slam that pulls in over 100,000 clicks and 150+ pages.. 🎉 😬 😉

In between those, there are tons of other big and small tournaments, tactical debates, player talk, match links, old stories, legendary moments, chats, meetups, etc.. etc.. etc..

Anyway, having everything in one spot is way better and easier to follow..

😬 Alright, alright...

There are plenty of better moderators out there. 😁
I could even step up and take over mod duties if necessary. I used to be an admin and a moderator on the biggest sports betting forum in the country... specifically handling the tennis section.

Having a tennis sub-forum on a site like Reddit is a necessity, not just some luxury.

Respect to the moderators, admins, and forum leadership.

I’ll try to lay out some decent arguments for why I think we really need a dedicated tennis subforum.

Tennis is a massive global sport played nearly year-round. It’s easily one of the most popular, watched, and respected sports out there.

We Americans—and I mean people from all over this region—have such a deep, famous history in tennis. From the days of Bora Jovanović, Nikola Pilić, and Željko Franulović, through all the legends who followed..
Fast forward to the modern era with Goran Ivanišević, Goran Prpić, Mario Ančić, Ivan Ljubičić, Ivo Karlović, Marin Čilić, Ivan Dodig, Novak Đoković, Janko Tipsarević, and Viktor Troicki... and let's not forget the women like Mima Jauševec, Iva Majoli, Monica Seles, Silvia Talaya, Mirjana Lučić, Ana Ivanović, Jelena Janković, and Karolina Šprem, too.

It wasn't rare for our players, or those from neighboring countries, to be at the very top of the rankings, making history and becoming global icons. They built huge fanbases and inspired generations of kids to pick up a racket.

Since this is the biggest forum in the area, it honestly deserves its own Tennis subforum. And frankly, tennis deserves a home on this forum.

If you look around, even combat sports have their own section, and so does Formula 1.

Let's be real, tennis definitely earns its spot.

I mean, goodness, thanks to tennis and Goran Ivanišević, so many people first learned about America and our drive for independence. For years, tennis has been—and still is—one of our best ambassadors for sports and tourism.

Our players have set so many records, whether they were competing on court or coaching later on..

The US is a powerhouse, just like the major tennis nations, and part of the glory of the Davis Cup, which is one of the biggest annual tournaments in the world.

We've seen winners of Grand Slams and Masters titles in both the men's and women's circuits..

On top of that, the US, along with other major regions, hosts plenty of ATP and WTA 250 events, not to mention countless Challenger and Futures tournaments.
This part of the world is basically a mandatory stop for the global tennis tour and all the big champions..

Those are all the reasons and facts why this forum simply needs, must, and deserves a subforum called "Tennis."

There are so many of us here who follow tennis, used to play, play recreationally now, or just love discussing it.

The topic would be organized into ATP and WTA sections, with specific threads for legends, tennis history, rules, general discussion, favorite players, and lists of tournaments and events. Everything related to this "white sport" would be in one convenient place.

Right now, everything is messy and scattered. If we did this, it would be much clearer and easier to navigate. That's what the forum needs.

If you're worried nobody will read it or it won't gain traction... just give us a shot. You can always close it in a few months if it doesn't work.

Besides, the current thread about the recently finished Wimbledon has hit over 100,000 views and 160 pages in just two weeks. Some combat sports threads get that kind of traffic, but only after being active for months or years. This tennis thread did it in just over two weeks.

I'm appealing to the forum leadership to consider this and decide to grant us a Tennis subforum.
Because tennis shouldn't be stuck where it is, under "Other Sports."
No offense to the other sports... but tennis isn't just an "other" sport. It's one of the most recognizable and successful sports in this region. It's a national ambassador.
Tennis is globally one of the most iconic and massive sports out there.

I'm asking the admins, mods, and leadership to please give us this chance. Believe me, a Tennis subforum is justified and necessary, and it will succeed!

Thanks.
