Issue with Moderation [PDF Tennis] in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I agree... we need them... but you guys shouldn't act like this and expect everyone to just jump in and lecture you..
At least not over stuff like this.

I guess we'll get some moderation soon enough.
Just hang tight. It's the weekend, so I assume the moderation team and the admins have to touch base and work things out first.

Come on, let's not start fighting and bickering here too, please...

Does every single topic really have to turn into this?

I'll hand out warnings to everyone if I could! (not that I actually can..)

Look, man, did I even say that? 🙂 😁
I didn't exactly put my own name in the hat for the role... Being a moderator can be pretty tricky, I know that because I spent a long time as a sub-mod and a mod on another forum.

I guess it’s tough for any of us to just decide that for ourselves or anyone else; like rustydrifter10 said, the admin makes the call.

Whoever ends up getting it, it'll be fine. We really need mods on the tennis boards.

And honestly, it doesn't have much to do with being objective beforehand. Once you become a mod, you're kind of forced to be more objective than usual and just set certain things aside.
The hardest part for a moderator is setting boundaries and, above all, staying consistent... regardless of friendships or "rivalries," acquaintances, cliques, and stuff like that. That can be a really tough task.

I actually reached out to the moderation team about giving us our own dedicated corner... I even went ahead and made a little break game! I did it, I really did!!

😁

But seriously, the fact is we really need some moderators on the PDF side, so I’m appealing to the higher-ups to please get this sorted out as soon as possible.

Maria, slytinker11, Gerald Thompson13—we need someone.

Thanks

Thanks, rustydrifter10.

Gerald Thompson13 said:Look, I'm not trying to discredit your favorite main candidate here, but is Agassi really being objective? 🤣
I think even he’d have a good laugh at this. 🤣

Maybe since you've been stuck on the PDF, you haven't seen much of Raf play, so you missed his posts about Gaćopotezač. 🥳
But Shemale was mentioned a few times, I don't know how you missed that. 🤔

Maybe he could actually hold back his hatred for the huge number of players if he were the moderator and could objectively penalize people for insulting Raf or Federer, or even Agassi, but I guess I'm just not so sure about that. 🙂

😬
I don't want to sound defensive... I mean, I don't want it to come off that way... but I guess I just blurt out stupid stuff sometimes when I'm worked up, so please don't take it personally.
It doesn't happen as often lately... maybe because of my late blooming 😬 or maybe just pure indifference 😁
Anyway, sorry for my colorful and inappropriate epithets, adjectives, and jokes sometimes.
Not that we aren't all doing similar things in the break-point game..

No hard feelings 🙂

@ rustydrifter10

It's tough to provide a direct link to insults when they aren't being moderated.
It happens in waves sometimes. I don't want to sound politically incorrect, but it really ramps up during the Grand Slams, especially whenever Djokovic is playing. You get these little provocations from his supporters—mostly just certain users on this forum with specific backgrounds.
You only have to skim through the Grand Slam threads or the discussions about the players to see it. A huge chunk of the debate turns into "us versus them," which gets pretty tricky to navigate.
There’s plenty of joking around, sure, but there's also—forgive me—this constant mocking that sits right on the edge of exploding into something we definitely shouldn't be seeing here.
That's just one example, I guess..

As the guy who first suggested we get our own tennis PDF, I’m fully backing my young, untainted colleague Maria here!

I'm signing off on all those doubts and questions above..

I honestly doubt we'll get any meaningful answers here.

Looking at everything being said—all these controversial topics and more—this decision by Reddit puts them on a straight path toward tyranny, one-sided thinking, and an obvious crackdown on free speech. It feels almost... I don't know, childishly obsessed with identity politics or something. They claim it isn't their job to decide who’s right or wrong, yet they just side with whoever has more power and then demand users hand over their private data.

Just like politicians, athletes, tycoons, and other "public figures," corporations are essentially public entities too. That means they have to deal with both praise and criticism. If they can't handle it, they should go talk to the people praising or bashing them directly and settle things there.

Who is going to guarantee to me, or to Steve, Milk, Mickey, Stanley, etc., that if we give our info to the admins or the owner, that data actually stays secret?
What stops an admin from having a meltdown one day? Like, what if he just snaps, quits his job, posts everyone's identities publicly, and then disappears from Reddit? What happens then?

Has the admin signed some kind of nondisclosure agreement or a vow of discretion with a notary, a lawyer, or some professional association? I highly doubt it..

And who guarantees that someone who gets access to personal data won't just go home and gossip about it with his wife, girlfriend, mistress, mom, brother, dad, sister, or even a neighbor? Just saying something "in confidence" that eventually leaks out..??
Who guarantees that discretion? How? Under what specific laws or regulations, and will there be actual criminal or civil liability involved?

It's kind of ridiculous..

Actually, it's pretty ridiculous..

I can't see this any other way than the leadership, including Unknown and the rest, getting spooked by potential lawsuits or threats. So, they decided to hide and cave to certain powerful interests, clearly doing it at the expense of their own users—the very people who keep this place running and determine whether this platform succeeds or fails..

I voted for 25th Hour. And he’s just incredible in American history x, FC-u, and all that...

He’s such a huge favorite of mine. I guess he’s one of my top actors from that more recent era, right up there with Kevin Spacey and John Cusak..

Maybe this is a bit off-topic... but when it comes to underrated talent, I feel like Tim Roth—who I think is a total genius—is definitely overlooked..

Just wanted to let everyone know that after an 18-month battle... which was about 13 months longer than what several doctors predicted... my mom finally found her peace yesterday morning. She’s finally in a place where there is no more pain or suffering. 😢She fought so hard. Honestly, she was incredibly brave—just fighting through everything with so much patience, even with the kind of agonizing pain we can't even begin to imagine... despite being on massive doses of morphine...

But it's over now. It's done. The pain is gone.

Goodbye, Mom... until we meet again down the road. Thank you for everything. ♥
Angela Wright said:Unfortunately, every year about 16,000 Americans find out too late. I really hope that besides just focusing on medical research and pouring money into treatments, we start putting way more into prevention and actually educating people. That’s where the real success lies, I think. Just if every smoker decided to quit and actually stuck with it, annual cases would probably drop by a quarter. And don't even get me started on what would happen if people stopped gorging on processed meats, started taking more Omega-3s, stayed active, and dealt with obesity—not to mention all the sugar we shove into our bodies constantly, whether we realize it or not.

I'm with you on this..

Diet and lifestyle are everything, both when it comes to prevention and actual treatment..
There were studies...
Some things have been known for thousands of years, while others were discovered in the 19th or 20th centuries. There were actual studies involving Nobel Prize winners and even nominees, but I guess they just got pushed aside by powerful lobbies with different interests.

Look, I'm not some conspiracy theorist—that's pretty slippery ground—but it seems pretty certain that big pharma companies aren't going to be happy about a treatment that’s available to everyone for free. They can't patent it, so they can't sell it for a massive markup.

There were studies and research papers out there about using baking soda for treatment, too, but maybe it didn't take off because it was suppressed.

There was this German doctor who treated a Monégasque princess and even John Wayne; he worked with Laetrile, but most of that is banned here in the US. In Mexico, though, it isn't. At a clinic like the Oasis of Hope, they actually get incredible results with certain types of cancer using intravenous Laetrile therapies.

It’s kind of like how R. Simpson gets great results using cannabis oil (not just the seeds, but the leaves)... and it's been common knowledge for millennia that the cannabis plant itself is packed with good nutrients and benefits.
But even that, despite showing good results, gets banned.

Why do you think that is?

I guess it's hard to patent a plant. Especially when the recipe for making the oil is common knowledge. Big corporations don't see a profit in that, so they just label these things as "quackery" or something and shut them down.

It's not all black and white, and I really don't think these massive companies are innocent in all of this.

I mean, you see people here constantly bashing "alternative" stuff like herbs and plants, but then on the flip side, they'll brag about how a herbal-based cough syrup works wonders and recommend it to everyone.
Why is that? Just because it has a "label" on it? It's like they believe it's fine if it's branded, but zero credit for anything else.
It's funny, really.

You just can't blindly trust the pharmaceutical industry. I mean, it feels like there's hardly a drug out there that doesn't have side effects or act like a bit of a poison itself.
Don't you think there are drugs on the market where so much money was poured into development that they couldn't afford to scrap them? So they release them even if they aren't the best, or if the clinical trials weren't exactly stellar.

Do you remember what Johnson & Johnson used to deal with, if I recall correctly? They released drugs that actually caused deaths, directly linked to the medication... and then everything was covered up, and the company had to totally pivot its core business because of it.
Same thing with GSK and the like.

There's just too much money moving through this industry for these giant companies to let something accessible and practically free exist.

Isn't it weird that statistics show over 2.5 billion people dealing with tumors today? That means every third person—or maybe even more—is fighting cancer or tumors.
Do you have any idea how much money the pharma companies make off all of this? It sounds harsh, but that's just the reality.
I doubt it's unrelated.

I have personal experience with this... and I know other people who do, too.
Maybe I can't prove it without my own lab and clinical trials, but my mother, who uses alternative methods, has lived over a year longer than the doctors' forecasts and statistics predicted. You can't prove it's not related to her treatment, either.

Personally, I'm always for combining science with alternative approaches.

But you can't be one-sided and demand studies from journals that are basically controlled by the pharma companies...
while at the same time, there are all these drugs on the market with horrific side effects that can kill you, and people just claim everything is perfectly fine.
It’s the same story with people on the other side... the conventional medicine side, let's call it...
Just reading through this thread, you see so many people who dealt with doctors giving wrong diagnoses, missing the window for testing, or just guessing and having no clue what they're actually dealing with. And the answer is almost always chemotherapy, like it's some kind of magic cure-all for everything.
And nobody wants to talk openly about how chemo basically wrecks your entire body and, more often than not, actually makes things worse.

Then they hide behind the excuse that it’s all up to the patient and their own choice to proceed or not.

Just like there are plenty of success stories on one hand, there are plenty of failures on the other.

Everything is highly individual anyway, depending on the stage of the disease, and whether it’ll actually help someone or not; plus, diet plays a massive role in how things go.

What really gets to me is that every doctor we’ve talked to says things like, "Oh, she can eat whatever she wants," and stuff like that. It's honestly such nonsense. These doctors know perfectly well what fuels cancer and why it grows, and how certain foods can make the whole situation worse or cause extra pain and misery... but according to them, just eat whatever. Same old story.

I personally believe that certain alternative approaches definitely won't hurt, and sometimes a person just has to find, learn, and try things for themselves. I doubt any doctor is going to go out of their way to research custom solutions for every single patient, especially since most don't have the time—or maybe even the will—to educate themselves on anything outside their specific field or standard protocol.
