Atletico Madrid vs. Real Madrid — 1 @ 2.70

Does Mourinho have any sense? He’s going to field a patchwork lineup without CR7, Benzema, or Ozil.

Atletico is already strong, rested, and always plays with an edge against Real. They’re hungry for that second-place spot too.

It makes zero sense for Real to exhaust themselves here—giving more than just a perfunctory performance—with a half-strength squad. If I were Mourinho, I wouldn't start anyone from the usual core.

I agree—here is the list of players available for Real tonight:

REAL MADRID SQUAD:
Goalkeepers: Casillas, Diego Lopez, and Adan.
Defenders: Varane, Pepe, Albiol, Carvalho, and Nacho.
Midfielders: Xabi Alonso, Essien, Khedira, Ozil, Di Maria, Modric, Callejon, and Kaka.
Forwards: Higuain, Benzema, and Morata.

No C. Ronaldo, Ramos, Arbeloa, Coentrao, or the injured Marcelo.
According to the previews, Real will rely heavily on depth players—Nacho, Albiol, Carvalho (essentially a whole new backline), plus Callejon and Kaka in the midfield.

With Xabi Alonso also on the bench today, those 2.30 odds for a home win look solid. Atletico is always motivated by this derby, and they have a legitimate shot at finishing the season ahead of their rivals—which would be a massive achievement.

Besides, Atletico celebrated their 110th anniversary yesterday, and today is the climax of the festivities. Let's hope they don't choke like the Dallas Cowboys did.😬

I'm putting a unit on this at 3/10.

Los Angeles FC vs. Seattle Sounders: Over 2.5 goals @ 2.20 MLS 4/10

Both sides favor an aggressive, attacking style—defense clearly isn't their priority, which is reflected in the standings. This is especially true for LAFC at home; they play an open, high-tempo game. Their midfield connection is strong, and they consistently find the net in front of their own fans.
Surprisingly, LAFC is still in the hunt for a European qualification spot—they’ll certainly try to maintain this momentum through the final stretch of the season. Seattle arrives with a full roster; no injuries or suspensions to worry about here.
Seattle is fighting to secure a Champions League berth. They’re in great form—seven wins in their last nine matches—and they have a much more favorable schedule ahead than third-place Columbus Crew, which gives them a chance to close that three-point gap. As per usual for them this season, though, the backline remains prone to lapses.

We have two teams that refuse to sit back. I expect plenty of action and goals.

Fenerbahçe vs. Benfica — Over 2.5 goals @ 2.18 via DraftKings. 4/10.

The Benfica manager has called for an open game—the goal being to net at least one. It’s their standard playbook, really. They have zero defensive identity; you saw that clearly during those final fifteen minutes in Newcastle when everything just dissolved into pure panic.
Benfica boasts a formidable midfield and an aggressive front line—they’re consistently carving through flanks and generating plenty of high-quality looks for their forwards.
The situation for Porto is tricky today—they’re missing their defensive anchor, Luisão, due to injury. It’s worth noting that back when they were playing without him during those first few games of the MLS season, their backline was a mess; they were conceding almost every single match. Once he returned, things finally stabilized. Hopefully, Fenerbahçe—who I don't know all that well—can capitalize on this instability and manage to find the back of the net at home.
I’ve only caught maybe two or three matches from Fenerbahçe this season—and even then, I wasn't sitting through full games—but one thing is clear: they aren't a defensive, park-the-bus type of outfit. They prefer an open game. Tonight, they'll have no choice but to play that way; they know they need to build a decent cushion before heading to Lisbon for the second leg.

Jacob Torres scores @ 3.20 — A slim 2/10 confidence level here.

El Niño is in incredible form—he's been clinical lately, netting four goals in his last three Europa League appearances. He’ll be starting from the opening whistle today, especially since Ba is ineligible for the EL following his recent stint with Newcastle.
This line is solid—it’s sitting at 0.50 higher than what I'm seeing over at FanDuel. Given how often Jacob Torres21 tends to overreach, he’ll probably actually manage to capitalize on at least one of these opportunities.
As the lone striker, he’s going to see plenty of service—and Chelsea will stick to their usual style, playing wide open, likely resulting in a high-scoring affair for both sides.

Basel vs. Chelsea — Over 4.5 yellow cards @ 1.85. April 10th. SS

Referee the game. Robert Wright4He’s handing out an average of 5.29 cards per game in European competition this season—a massive number that proves he isn't afraid to reach for them. He even dropped three on the Barcelona squad during their match against Spartak. It’s quite telling. Clearly, he has zero interest in letting anyone challenge his authority on the pitch.
It’s pretty obvious how Chelsea operates—it’s mostly just a bunch of blue-collar grinders out there, supplemented by a few players who actually possess some technical skill. Naturally, that high-intensity style leads to a fair amount of yellow cards.
Basel plays a physical, gritty style of football—tough, disciplined stuff.
It’s a high-stakes game—expect the leading team to start running out the clock in the final minutes. This referee clearly isn't having any part of that, though; he’ll be handing out yellow cards to keep things moving.
The bet looks solid to me.
Why the permaban? in Feedback & Suggestions ·

It wasn't a permaban—just a partial ban from the sportsbook. And yes, you've been warned multiple times, just as Tominator pointed out.

Anthony Barrett37 said:Honestly, I don't get why the moderators here view every bit of criticism as a provocation or an attack on their authority.

If people want to express themselves—and if a significant number of active users tell you something isn't working—but you dismiss all of that as mere provocation or questioning the mods, then we aren't going to make much progress...

"A significant number of active users"?
I can't recall a single one who was actually productive while simultaneously complaining about the rules and how this board functions. 🤷

Most of the complaints come from those who refuse to engage in any meaningful work here—they don't want to provide reasoning for their picks, they'd rather just post a bet, grab a coffee, and call it a day.

That isn't how things work—at least not while I'm around.

Beyond the fact that criticizing moderation doesn't belong in threads meant for discussing bets, the topic of the rules itself has been chewed over a hundred times already.

I suspect most of us have visited sites like BettingAdvice at some point looking for useful info. Why shouldn't this board be something similar—a place where people flock to discuss, read, and share insights?
That would benefit everyone.

Beira Mar - Gil Vicente: Over 2.5 goals @ 2.36 Pinnacle 4/10

This match is a pure relegation scrap—especially for the home side, who are currently sitting dead last.
Both teams are in desperate shape; they’re both leaking goals (45 conceded in 25 matches), and injuries aren't helping either side. The hosts are missing former Dinamovac Tonel, while the visitors are without their starting keeper and their regular midfielder.
There won't be much tactical stalling here—once that first goal lands, things should open up completely. Neither side knows how to defend, and points are too vital to play it safe.
Their season opener followed this exact pattern, ending in a 2-1 win for Beira Mar.
The odds at Pinnacle are quite generous—about 0.25 higher than the market average.

Nacional - Maritimo: Over 2.5 goals @ 2.15 SS 4/10

It's a local island derby. Both sides play an open style—particularly Nacional, who seem to score and concede at a high rate. Over the last five or six rounds, both teams have consistently been involved in high-scoring affairs. As with any local derby, there's plenty of friction, so expect both sides to fight tooth and nail for the win. Their head-to-head history also supports this bet, with plenty of goals usually flying in.
Injuries are an issue for both—Nacional is missing two key defenders, and Maritimo is without two midfielders.
I'm expecting an open game with plenty of action in front of the net.

Pacos Ferreira - Rio Ave 1 @ 2.10 Marathonbet 6/10

Pacos isn't slowing down—with four rounds left in the season, they're still chasing a historic Champions League spot. They sit level on points with Portland, but a win today could see them leapfrog them back into third.
The schedule for these final four matches is brutal; if they want to keep that LP dream alive, they need three points today. Their upcoming stretch includes away trips to Guimaraes and Academica, followed by home games against Porto and Sporting.
They’ve maintained solid form—handling the weaker sides with ease and picking up points against the heavyweights—including a tough scrap against Benfica in the Cup.

Rio Ave is nothing special—pretty much your league average side. They've been struggling lately, despite a recent win. Looking at their last seven outings, five losses is a rough run. To make matters worse, they've been dismantled twice in the last three weeks; Porto and Benfica combined for 10 goals against them in just two matches. Contrast that with Pacos, who held their own against those same giants. On top of that, Rio Ave is missing three starters: a defender, a midfielder, and their top scorer, Hassan, who is out following a red card in the last match.
Pacos is only missing one midfielder, and they actually welcome back two players who were sidelined recently.

Pacos is the superior side and clearly in better form—they've managed only three losses in 25 matches this season.
Their defense at home is tight, conceding only 10 goals in 12 games, whereas Rio Ave struggles on the road, having leaked 22 goals in 12 matches.

Pacos plays aggressively at home, creating plenty of chances. I don't see the visitors managing to keep a clean sheet.
These two have met twice already this season, both times with Rio Ave hosting. One ended in a 0-0 stalemate, while the other was a 3-2 victory for Pacos.
Essentially, Pacos took four out of a possible six points on Rio Ave's turf. Now they're playing at home, where they look far more convincing and should find it easier to secure the win.

Portland - Academica Braga -1.5 @ 2.25 Pinnacle 3/10

Portland has their sights set firmly on the Champions League—it’s well within their reach—and they’re hungry for a third appearance in elite competition. They’re coming into this at the perfect moment; following a Cup League trophy win, they host a struggling Academica side that is fighting desperately just to stay afloat. In fact, Academica recently fired their talented coach due to a desperate run of form—three straight losses and seven defeats in their last eight matches. Their only bright spot was grabbing a draw against Sporting, a team that has been handing out points to everyone lately. Earlier this season, Portland dismantled them 4-1 on the road, and now they’re back on home turf where they play with an aggressive, attacking mindset. No major unexpected absences to worry about here—mostly just long-term injuries—while Academica is missing their starting midfielder.
The head-to-head history leans heavily toward Portland. At home, the locals have secured wins in 8 of their last 10 meetings, with the other two ending in scoreless draws.
One preview for this matchup noted the following:
The head-to-head record is overwhelmingly stacked against the visitors from Coimbra, who haven't managed a win in their last 19 encounters. They haven't even tasted victory on Portland's soil since 1967, and even securing a draw is a rare feat for them.

Interesting.

I expect Portland to walk away with the win again. Between their offensive style and Alan being in top form, they should easily brush aside a lackluster Academica squad—they happen to be the lowest-scoring away team in the league, managing only 9 goals in 12 matches.

Nothing is actually yours until you've rolled over the required $400—say, eight bets of $50—at 1.50 odds.
From there, you can either drop $50 at once and go all-in repeatedly, or just chip away with $2 increments. It doesn't matter much—it all adds up—provided you keep track of your total deposits somewhere in your account history.

Just double-check whether the cumulative odds need to hit 1.50 or if you just need at least one leg in the parlay to be at 1.50. That's how the rule works over at Bet365, though I can't speak for the others.

Guimaraes-Belenenses 1 @ 2.20 Pinnacle 5/10

Taking this one, even though I’m flying somewhat blind regarding Belenenses.
To be fair, my knowledge is limited to what the second division standings tell me—namely, that they’re dominating and will easily be back in the top flight next year.
That said, Guimaraes is a solid top-tier side currently in great shape; they've won three straight at home and have five wins in their last eight matches overall—noting that two of those losses were against Benfica and SC Braga, the best teams in the league. This is the second leg of a cup semifinal, and Guimaraes took a 2-0 lead away in the first leg.
The winner moves on to face Benfica in the final, which means whoever advances today secures a guaranteed spot in the Europa League next season—hardly a small detail.
The home side has a strong squad and has been playing exceptionally well in the latter half of the season. They’re defending a 2-0 cushion and are clearly the superior team. Though, I haven't been able to find any highlights from the first leg online to confirm how they actually played.
Guimaraes has a few minor absences, but nothing major. As for the visitors, all I can find is that one striker is returning; there’s zero information regarding other injuries or missing players.

The referee is Carlos Xistra; if you check this link, you'll see he isn't shy about handing out cards. Since lower-division teams tend to play a more physical style of football, Belenenses might end up picking up several yellows tonight—maybe even a red. Furthermore, this official frequently calls penalties, so there's a decent chance he awards one to the hosts. 😁

Given the circumstances—odds of 2.20 for a top-flight team playing at home against a second-division side, in a match deciding a Europa League berth, and with a significant advantage from the first leg—the price looks a bit too high for me. I'm placing the bet. 🤷

Richard Young10 said:We'll see... Today's match isn't all that critical—they have Sporting this weekend, even though Jesus hinted at running out the strongest lineup. Maybe Cardec starts, though he’ll likely just come off the bench later on.

I wouldn't say it's unimportant—this is one of the major trophies in American soccer.
True, they face Sporting this weekend, but it's hardly a derby anymore—not outside of what the papers say. Sporting has been absolutely abysmal this season—truly bottom-tier—so I don't expect Benfica to run into much trouble here. I was reading earlier that Jesus hasn't won a domestic cup in his career, and he's clearly hungry to grab one this season.
Word is they're going with the heavy hitters. I doubt Cardec starts; players like Rodrigo, Lima, and Cardozo have the edge right now. Like you said, he might get some minutes late in the game.
Regarding lineups, they usually post them on the official site about 15 minutes before kickoff (sometimes sooner)—if you check the sidebar under league and cup fixtures, you can see if Cardozo is starting. Don't count on the odds moving on ESPN until those names are actually confirmed. 😁

Benfica - Pacos Ferreira | Over 2.5 goals @ 2.40 | 4/10 | HL

Benfica is in peak form—steamrolling everyone in their path with seven straight wins in the league—and they’re legitimately hunting a domestic treble this season. They’ve practically got the league title in the bag, they just reached the Europa League semifinals, and today they’re defending a 2-0 cushion from the first leg against Pacos in the cup semifinals.
They play great football, scoring plenty of goals, and lately, their defense has been remarkably solid, at least in league play.
Following a somewhat grueling Europa League semifinal advancement secured last Thursday in Newcastle, it looks like Salvio, Perez, and Lima might be sidelined tonight—key pieces for the Eagles. That said, it isn't as if they lack capable depth; veterans like Aimar and Cardozo are ready to step up.
I’ve written quite a bit about Pacos this season, so I’ll keep this brief. They are a well-organized, compact side with a disciplined defense and a lethal counter-attack; they find openings easily and play attractive soccer.
They have a full squad available, aside from Vitor, who was sent off in the first leg.

Pacos has to attack tonight, and they certainly have the tools to do it. They know chasing a 2-0 deficit will be an uphill battle, especially playing in the cauldron of the Luz, but they won't roll over. Their results this season speak for themselves.
To be fair, Benfica has swept all three meetings between them this season (2-1, 2-0, and 3-0).

As for the numbers, the stats suggest:
The head-to-head figures understandably favor Benfica, and convincingly so—they’ve won 16 of their last 17 matchups, including 15 of the last 16 played at the Luz. Most of these games have been high-scoring affairs, and Pacos has managed to find the net in 15 of their last 18 encounters.

Benfica will likely be a bit fatigued after Thursday's grind. They hold a comfortable lead from the first leg and might be missing one or two vital players. This gives Pacos opportunities—opportunities I hope they capitalize on.

For those looking for more value: it's not a bad bet to look at 2/1 @ 29 | HL. Pacos will definitely yield possession tonight, but they know how to defend; they've proven it repeatedly this season against top-tier clubs (think Porto or Benfica) by staying tight through the first half before getting outplayed in the second. In such a scenario, Pacos could grab a goal, forcing Benfica to push harder in the second half, which would naturally leave spaces for Pacos to exploit—especially since a one-goal win won't get them through.

Incidentally, the average odds for the over are around 1.61, making this 2.40 a massive outlier. Even accounting for bookmaker logic, they seem to think a 3-0 blowout is more likely than an over involving a Pacos goal, but I don't buy it. Pacos is a quality outfit, and I expect them to show it tonight.
Soccer Betting Tips & Discussion in Betting Forum ·
I suspect we might see Cardozo in the starting lineup tonight. Rodrigo was out there against the Newcastle game on Thursday, and since Jesus tends to rotate the squad quite a bit—he's looking for freshness—it stands to reason they’d opt for a rested, more dangerous Cardozo from the opening whistle.
Soccer Betting Tips & Discussion in Betting Forum ·
Regarding the scoring trends—I can only really point to the Portuguese league. Looking at the data on this board, about 53% of their matches hit the over, and they’re pulling a high average of 2.83 goals per game.
The style of play in the MLS is wide open—plenty of chances being created—but the strikers are just frustratingly mediocre. It’s especially bad when you look at the clubs sitting at the bottom of the table.

Based on my experience—and the data seems to back this up—there are certain teams where the over consistently hits. In this table— Braga and Nacional remain steady—while others have completely overhauled their tactical approach compared to last season. Take Pacos Ferreira, for example. Last year, she was practically a staple in the ODG3+ category, frequently hitting 4+ goals per game. This season, they’ve tightened things up significantly; they aren't conceding nearly as often, making the "under" a very reliable play most of the time.

Eric Fox7 said:I always knew the Greek leagues were bottom-tier—low quality, nothing new there—but seeing only a 39.4% over rate is a bit much. To top it off, 13% of their matches end in a 0-0 stalemate. Not exactly thrilling stuff. 😲

Look, 13% is a massive margin—that’s roughly one out of every eight games. In practical terms, you're looking at an entire game per round.
The odds for a 0-0 draw—if my memory serves—sit somewhere around 6.50 to 7.00. That’s hardly worth the risk even in a defensive grind like the Greek league, let alone in any of the more high-octane major leagues.

rapidhound19 said:Right now, I’m looking at Newcastle vs. Benfica—over 10.5 corners at 1.70 feels like a solid play. Newcastle seems much more composed in the league following last week's win. They'll likely field their strongest lineup, and I expect an open game. Benfica isn't afraid to push forward either; both sides rely heavily on wing play, so plenty of corners should be on the menu.

It might be irrelevant, but I just caught this in a match preview:

"Interestingly, Benfica didn't concede a single corner in either of their matches last week."

Also, we have Mike Klein officiating—he has a bit of a reputation for handing out penalties or red cards, so don't be surprised if we see some drama today. 😁

I know, but the odds on Torres were too low to make it worth the trip—and since he isn't exactly around the corner from me, I wasn't sure if I could even make it in time. 😁

I ended up taking both of them in a single at Favorite.
Soccer Betting Tips & Discussion in Betting Forum ·
Chelsea’s lineup looks pretty half-baked—they've got this guy Ake playing, someone I’ve never even heard of, let alone seen on a UEFA roster. 😬
With Paulo Ferreira holding down right back, Luis anchoring the center, and Benayoun playing as Benitez’s little protégé... it’s just not looking great.

Local sportsbooks have the money on Rubin at 2.85, but the overseas odds have been sliding ever since the lineups dropped.

The favorites are offering a massive payout if you bet on Torres to score at 3.50, compared to 2.90 over at SS.
He’s the lone striker, and after bagging two goals last time they met, he’s finally clawing his way back to form—reminding everyone why every major club in Europe was practically begging to sign him a few years ago.

Man, if only you could parlay a win with Torres finding the net. 😁

I took another look at the lineups—and I just admitted in the chat that I totally misread the situation regarding him. I was under the impression they’d let him off without a yellow card. But hey, he isn't Messi; Drogba will make up for it. 😁

Alright, the lineups for tonight's Champions League matches are out. I've placed two doubles just for the hell of it:

Pepe to receive a card @ 4.15
Dortmund vs. Malaga - Penalty in the match (including extra time) @ 3.60

@ 14.94 1/10 Favorite

Pepe to receive a card @ 4.15
Dortmund vs. Malaga - Red card in the match (including extra time) @ 3.20

@ 13.28 1/10 Favorite

Pepe is in the starting XI—his aggression is a given, especially considering his reputation with officials. Galatasaray, featuring stars like Drogba, Sneijder, Burak Yilmaz, and Altintop, has plenty of firepower; they'll be pushing into the danger zone frequently. Hopefully, the Brazilian-born Portuguese defender keeps his temper in check, though we know how that usually goes.

As for the penalty and red card calls in the Dortmund-Malaga game, I'm leaning into it because this is essentially the match of the season for both sides. Expect high tension—the scoreline favors both teams to stay aggressive, and if things aren't settled by full time, expect some late-game physicality. Plus, the referee is Craig Thomson, who isn't afraid to pull cards or whistle for penalties. From what I've tracked on ESPN, Dortmund seems to draw a fair amount of penalty calls.

Anyway, just a little low-stakes fun. If they land, great.
There's even a chance both tickets hit. 😁

Roger Phillips said:Fair enough, but one thing looks grim—Martimo doesn't just concede easy goals, but they frequently let in that one crucial goal while the visitors are playing high-octane offense. They are essentially the team of the season right now, and the head-to-head history tells the story: they've scored in their last eight trips to Honolulu.
It’s entirely plausible we see another 1-1 or 2-2; once someone finds the net, the game tends to open up—regardless of wind or fog...

I basically agree with you—that was my point in the opening post—but I'm less convinced about the OVER. Pacos has a habit this season of grinding out low-scoring affairs, things like 1-0, 1-1, or 2-0...
