Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and ICU: Q&A in Health ·
Hi everyone,

I’ve had two general surgeries before, and honestly, anesthesia always hits me hard. I have a septoplasty scheduled for March 4th, and I’m already starting to panic at the thought of being stuck vomiting for hours while dealing with nasal packing... Basically, a nurse from another department mentioned there might be an anti-nausea injection I could ask for. Is that actually a thing? I haven't had my consultation with the anesthesiologist yet, so I was wondering if anyone here has any insight?

At the Seattle University Hospital, yes 😉

It’s a nasty scenario waiting for me too. 😢 I'm not scared of the pain, the bleeding, or the diarrhea, it's just that gross vomiting 🙂 that gets to me... but hey, we can handle this, we have to. 😍

I totally feel you. I was throwing up like crazy after my last surgery last year... ugh. Anyway, I finally have my appointment scheduled for March 4th to get my nose done. 😁 I'm honestly terrified this is just going to happen all over again. 😢 I'll keep my fingers crossed that you're doing okay, though I guess it's always smart to prepare for the worst. 😁😁 Because if you're sensitive to anesthesia, you're just sensitive. Period. 🙂🙂

😉 That’s awesome, I wish it went that smoothly for everyone! Personally, I always end up nauseous after anesthesia, so that’s definitely my biggest fear. 😢
Chloe Stewart said:Maybe someone else has already asked this, but I really don't have the energy to scroll through 450 pages! I need nose surgery—it's partly for a minor health issue, but I’d love to fix the aesthetics too. Right now, paying out-of-pocket at a private clinic isn't an option, so I'm looking for advice on hospital experiences. Which one should I go to, and which doctor should I look for? (Please, only reply if you've actually had cosmetic work done at a public hospital using insurance rather than going private).

I actually have an appointment scheduled for March 4th at Seattle University Hospital, and it's totally covered by insurance. They're doing both the deviation correction and the aesthetic part, which was the doctor's suggestion... I'm not sure what city you're in, but here in Seattle, it's doable and the wait is only about 2-3 months.🙂

Honestly, just shoot an email to a few different clinics—it doesn't matter where they're located—ask them the question and attach that same photo. See what they have to say.🙂
I don't know, every surgery I have just leaves me feeling incredibly nauseous. It's honestly gross, especially when you're stuck dealing with nasal packing... :/
I heard there’s a specific injection you can ask for to help with nausea, so I'm going to ask the anesthesiologist to make a note of that... though since the ENT department at the Mayo Clinic doesn't have its own dedicated anesthesiology team and they borrow from other departments, you never really know what kind of anesthesia you're going to get. It's a total toss-up... 😁
Hey everyone 🙂
I just scored an appointment for March 4th at the Mayo Clinic for a septorhinoplasty with Dr. Kujundžić after hearing some great things from friends... I was wondering if anyone here has actually had surgery done by him? 🙂 My nose has a slight bump and my right nostril is pretty problematic...
I have to admit, I'm a little nervous about going under. I have a really hard time with general anesthesia—it always makes me nauseous when I wake up. For my last surgery, I was basically vomiting for five hours straight in waves 😢 so the idea of dealing with nausea while my nose is totally stuffed up and swollen sounds pretty miserable. 😢 Has anyone else dealt with bad post-op nausea? 😁
