Anesthesia, Resuscitation, and ICU: Q&A in Health ·
Hello. It has been 15 days since my surgery, and I am dealing with a terrible reaction to the anesthesia. My entire face is peeling intensely, and a heavy rash has broken out across my whole face and around my eyes. Does anyone have any advice, or has anyone had a similar experience? If so, could you recommend a specific cream or treatment? This is truly frightening. Thank you.
Hello... I am now six months post-op. The tip remains quite firm, though I am hopeful that this sensation will subside soon. Additionally, there is still a small lump on my left side from the initial stage; lately, it has started to feel somewhat bothersome. I am interested to know if anyone here has experienced any setbacks or worsening symptoms after the six-month mark? I would be very grateful for your insights. 🙂
Thank you. I will make an effort not to worry; I simply need to adjust, as things have felt quite overwhelming lately. Yes, I did see him, but since he was a family friend, everything was handled in such a rush that a misunderstanding occurred. On the positive side, he managed to resolve my breathing issues and the headaches I was experiencing—which were caused by some internal bone pressure.
That isn't my only concern—it's just one part of the issue. Regardless, how would you even manage to go out with such a swollen nose?
If you are planning on undergoing surgery, make sure you communicate clearly with your surgeon about exactly what you want. Have them repeat it back to you ten times if necessary. I am currently fourteen days post-op, and during my follow-up appointment yesterday, I discovered that the most critical part of the procedure wasn't performed because the doctor assumed I didn't want it—specifically, the nasal constriction. I cannot adequately describe the heartache I feel. I committed to this entire surgical process and endured all that pain, only to end up with the exact same nose. Now, I am stuck dealing with swelling and being unable to leave my house, effectively wasting an entire year of my life since I’ve had to pause my studies at the university. It is simply unbearable. I am incredibly frustrated by my enlarged nasal tip. This is why I am telling you: coordinate thoroughly with your doctor. If you have to ask ten times, do it. I wish you all the luck in the world, which unfortunately, I did not receive.
I gave him some thought, but I decided against it because he ended up removing more bone from a friend of mine than was actually necessary...

Da ask one more thing—it’s been six days since my surgery. They removed the packing and the nasal tape yesterday, and I noticed a little bump on the left side. It also looks slightly yellowish, which I assume is just bruising, but now I’m worried about whether it will actually go down. I am honestly terrified that it won't. I have an appointment with the doctor this coming Monday to ask him, but if anyone here has their own opinion, please let me know. Thanks.
I have one question: after how much time do you actually start to feel your nose again? Specifically, after how many weeks?
Hello everyone, I had my nose surgery this past Monday... I am removing the tampons tomorrow, having just returned home yesterday. I am counting down the days until those stitches come out; my teeth are hurting far too much. I assume it is from the anesthesia, especially since I keep waking up in the middle of the night with a dry, numb tongue 😢 I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy. Furthermore, I feel a sneeze coming on, and I am genuinely terrified that if I sneeze, the stitches might snap...
Hello everyone. I have a question for those who have undergone nasal surgery... how much weight did you lose, was it a significant amount or just a little? :/ And at what point were you able to return to a normal diet?

Dr. Cikojević from San Diego
Bokk, so I recently had my initial consultation... The doctor confirmed everything I suspected, with one exception: the cartilage on one side of my nose is shaped differently due to an impact I took a few years ago (one side is convex while the other is concave). He mentioned that this specific asymmetry is somewhat more difficult to correct, particularly when using a closed technique :/ As for the humps, those can be easily addressed. I am scheduled for imaging on August 21st, and then we will finalize the plan. 🙂

I would like to weigh in on this discussion. I have spent a significant amount of time reading about this surgery on this forum, and ten days ago, I had a consultation with Dr. Glušac in Miami.
Although I live in Washington, D.C., I chose to travel to see him because he struck me as the most attentive specialist. Upon arriving, I received exactly what I expected.
To the doctor, I was not merely a number; he truly cared about my specific desires. I have an incredibly low pain tolerance, so I occasionally found myself laughing at how much I was whimpering—I actually felt bad for poor Dr. Glušac because of how much extra attention I required. 😁
However, the results were worth it...
My implant is still swollen, but there are no visible scars or external stitches. I am extremely satisfied with the outcome.
I give this doctor my definitive recommendation.

I had originally intended to go to him for the procedure, but I changed my mind after an acquaintance told me he removed 20 ribs too many and she had to undergo a second surgery. Consequently, I will definitely be staying in Washington, D.C.
Hello, does anyone here have more information regarding the WOW method (a non-surgical rhinoplasty)? I came across this technique online and saw that Dr. Milojević performs it, though I am unsure if he is the only practitioner offering it. The idea that a hump can be smoothed out and the tip reshaped in just about 10 minutes seems highly questionable to me...

The issues were a deviated septum, a fracture, a collapse of the right nasal sidewall, and narrowing of both the nasal turbinates and the nasal pyramid. Even after the procedure, I have already had five follow-up appointments and sinus ventilation sessions, and there will be more to come—all of which are included in the price you mentioned. It is certainly not too late to schedule your surgery now, as you can fully recover by summer. They removed my packing a few days later, and the silicone breathing tubes were removed on day 11. Naturally, I was yawning constantly at first because I was so exhausted; breathing through my mouth meant I woke up frequently, and since my back was aching, I was up by 6:00 AM yawning incessantly. Currently, I am keeping my nose moisturized, blowing it gently to keep it clear, and performing massages. Aside from that, my breathing improved immediately and feels unobstructed. There is still some bruising that shows through my concealer. My bones are also quite swollen, though it isn't visible to others. As soon as the splint was removed, the nose looked beautiful. I even went out for coffee wearing sunglasses over the cast, and I am already becoming somewhat physically active again. As for weight loss, you simply lose it because you have no appetite during the first few days and feel weak following the operation; I haven't pushed myself with training until this weekend. However, I am already capable of performing most of my usual activities.

That is excellent. Thank you for the information, 🙂 Please keep us updated on your results. I wish you a smooth recovery! 🙂)
I have another somewhat foolish question: what should we do if we feel a yawn coming on during those first few weeks following nasal surgery? Additionally, when can I safely return to physical exercise—specifically things like crunches, planks, or push-ups (basically anything involving lowering my head or putting tension on the nose)—provided there is no physical contact involved? Also, at what point will I be able to blow my nose normally again?

Please excuse me for bombarding you all with so many questions!

Haha, great.😁
mellowowl83 said:What is the average wait time when using a private provider for surgery, specifically from the initial consultation through to the actual procedure?

Roughly one month.
crimsonpanther8 said:I was able to breathe through my nose completely normally immediately after the packing was removed,
and they typically remove those about eight days post-op.
I believe I started touching the stitches after about 14 days.
As for bruising, I had quite a significant amount, and it remained visible for about three weeks.
My nose is still swollen, even though it will soon be four months since the surgery,
but at the end of the day, I am the only one who notices it.
The difference from my previous nasal profile was obvious the moment the cast was taken off.

Thanks for the reply. 🙂 That’s great news about your breathing; I'm glad you didn't have to endure too much discomfort. 🙂
One thing I am curious about: I know there is still swelling, but after a month, does the nose already look smaller than it did before the surgery?
Thank you very much for all the responses. If anyone has additional information to share, I would be extremely grateful. I made a bit of a mistake by being lazy at home for four months instead of getting this handled back in month two, but it is what it is. Honestly, it doesn't matter if I notice something; my main concern is ensuring that people seeing me for the first time don't find my appearance off-putting. One more question: does everything look normal in photos after a month has passed?
Hello. I am planning to undergo rhinoplasty, though I have decided to wait until September. I have no desire to deal with this during the summer months, both because I wouldn't be able to swim and because the heat would be unbearable. I am looking for some insight regarding the recovery process: approximately how many weeks will I be unable to breathe through my nose? Additionally, does the appearance look relatively normal after two months? I understand that the final shape isn't settled for about a year, but I am specifically referring to bruising and swelling. I also need to know when the stitches are typically removed. Currently, my sole choice is Dr. Frank based in Miami. While there are a few negative reviews out there, they are vastly outnumbered by positive ones. A friend of mine actually went to him and stated that if she had to do it all over again, she would choose him without hesitation.

My primary concern is that I feel faint whenever I have blood drawn, so the idea of surgery is genuinely terrifying, even though I logically know that once the anesthesia kicks in, I won't feel anything. My mother insists I don't need this and thinks I'm being irrational, but I know my own mind; I have two bumps on the side and my nasal tip is far too wide. Correcting this would significantly improve my self-confidence 🙂 and, honestly, ever since I started thinking about this procedure constantly, I have felt an urge to touch my nose. I assume that feeling will pass, as I certainly wouldn't want to touch it after the surgery and risk interfering with the healing process.

Thank you in advance for your responses.
