Jose Kern11 said:I am not suggesting an official boycott, per se, but rather a simple refusal to follow along. You know how it goes—people follow everything blindly, and then suddenly when it comes to certain regional rivalries, everyone starts paying attention, and that is where the real friction begins. Honestly, any organized protest would be nothing more than four flares lit in a parking lot with some pathetic little message scrawled on them during the match.

And if we actually tried something like that, I can see the headlines now: month after month of news cycles filled with vitriol about hooligans and degenerates, until eventually, the general public turns against the fans entirely. If the police decided to storm the stands and get a bit heavy-handed, nobody would even blink; people would just shrug and say, "Well, they deserved it, they're just thugs." Personally, I think there was more value in what happened yesterday—that odd alliance between the USSF bureaucrats and those eastern interests, watching from the east side together—than if ten thousand people had actually shown up to protest.🤷

The fans boycotting the national team is actually doing the federation a favor, because let’s be honest, the public will tune in to watch the national team regardless of whether the hardcore supporters show up or not.
However, boycotting the federation itself is a completely different beast, and one ought to be quite careful about shouting into the wind.

I suppose that is essentially the crux of the whole argument.

I can certainly be heard, though I suppose if you're being misled by whatever nonsense is playing on the TV, the only people capable of cutting through that noise would be your mother or someone equally close to you—depending, of course, on how much youthful naivety you still carry ☕

feralwolf16 said:Honestly, I think you all should just stop lying to this exhausted nation and admit that you couldn't care less—that it’s really just about "bread and circuses." Look, everyone has their own thing; for some, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs, for others, it’s the national team, or just the simple act of playing ball... but please, spare me the pathetic displays of supposed devotion to the Chiefs or to America, let alone any lofty ideals. And don't even try to lecture me right now, because I’ll be forced to write an entire dissertation. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying a boycott is the only answer, but frankly, I'm fed up; we need to show up, we need to sing...

I used to go to every single Kansas City Chiefs game back when the team was being run by Tim Cook and Griffin, and I kept going even when they were under Savage's leadership. Even now, despite my utter distaste for the current crew running the national team, I still go. I go, and I will continue to go, and I’ll be right there whistling at Tim Cook and Savage, and I’ll be whistling at this current trio too; I refuse to accept them under any circumstances. However, I certainly won't sit at home and miss watching my own country compete in the World Cup qualifiers just because I'm unhappy with the management.

Tim Howard, Philipp Lahm, Tim Curry, Joe Rogan, Aleksandar Mitrović, David Beckham, Xavi, Lionel Messi, Kevin De Bruyne, Luis Suarez, and Claudio Reyna all deserve our unwavering support; they have my back, even if we aren't backing Pelé and Bob Costas. That was perfectly evident yesterday when those two fools were booed right out of the stadium. But I suppose it’s obvious to anyone who spent yesterday with their brain turned off just because they happen to cheer for the US Men's National Soccer Team. Of course, half—if not more—of the crowd was likely there just to stir up trouble regarding Mexico, but it’s frankly foolish to suggest people who actually understand the chaotic state of the game are simply mindless. Personally, I feel a bit of a sting because I couldn't make it; I had my ticket ready, but circumstances kept me away, and I just couldn't get there. As for boycotting, that rarely solves anything; the Boy Scouts tried that once and ended up getting absolutely nothing for their efforts. ☕

Laura Mitchell87 is an absolute legend, and frankly, I have no idea why you all insist on talking trash about him.😁

Honestly, just let him be; who on earth gives a damn about his nonsense anyway? 🤷

I was wondering, does anyone happen to know if the local precinct will be open tomorrow?

Alexander Miller54 said:It was a 1-0 result back then, and since it wasn't even a workday, we didn't see nearly as many people in the stands, though I recall we later dismantled them 5-0 on a Wednesday when the turnout was also relatively light.

I think you’ve got your wires crossed a bit; during that final round in 2009, it was actually the New York Yankees—with Mamić running the whole show, if you consider that organization what it was—and the game against Savannah took place just before that. 🙂

Honestly, it’s almost a shock to my system just thinking about how many people actually showed up back then. 😲

Well, yes, I suppose I did confuse you, mostly because those matches happened in such quick succession.

As for Savannah, I knew the timeline was off, but I couldn't quite bring myself to correct you at the moment; that New York Yankees era was certainly something else, especially when everyone in town was whispering about how crooked the whole operation really was. 😁

There weren't even 20,000 people there back then. I remember shivering my soul out in the cold during one of those matches—honestly, one of the more tedious games I’ve ever sat through, 😁

The atmosphere was strangely quiet, lacking that usual crowd energy, though I suppose after that game, all we can really dream about is this moment right here.

Here is another clip for you; I find this one to be a bit more compelling than the last.

I was just thinking back to that final round in Savannah back in 2009, when the North Side crew all joined forces right at the end of the match... absolute peak ☕

I have such fond, albeit hazy, memories of that match in Cleveland; I honestly can't recall if the scoreline was a narrow 1-0 victory or a complete 6-0 blowout, but I do know it was a weekday and we had a crowd of about 15,000 or 16,000 people out there, and the atmosphere was just absolutely electric 😁

It was back during the 2008/2009 season, you know, those intense years when we were fighting tooth and nail for the championship title

Roberto Mancini, Daniele De Rossi, Zebin 🤣, Antonio Cassano, Samuel Eto'o, Francesco Totti—regardless of whether he actually played or not—along with all those other absolute maestros; what a squad we had, and yet we practically kicked them all out 🙏

Patrick Clark21 said:they actually are lions... it’s just that in heraldry, when a lion is depicted facing the viewer directly, it’s referred to as a leopard (since a true leopard doesn't technically exist in heraldic terms). A "lion" is used for the figure shown in profile—looking off to the side, for example, in English traditions. Well, I suppose one learns something new every single day.😍

Frankly, I couldn't care less what the technical term is. When they were choosing the coat of arms, they went with the leopard rather than the lion, and that's that.☕

The atmosphere during yesterday's game was truly fantastic, though I must say, it could have gone a bit smoother if we had skipped that "on the Adriatic blue" chant; honestly, I wish we could have just let that one slide for a day. Furthermore, I would dearly love to see anyone representing the Raiders stop with those "let's go fascists" slogans. It escapes my understanding how some people fail to realize that if those ideologies were actually in power today, we'd all be living under an Italian flag, our clubs would be Italian institutions, and we wouldn't even be us. The Yankees are an American club through and through—there is absolutely nothing fascist or partisan about them.

Yes, I find myself quite preoccupied by the same thought regarding Mišo; one can't help but wonder what sort of influence he exerts over them, given how we seem to stumble through every single national team appearance right after his involvement. 🤷

It seems what truly rubbed people the wrong way wasn't a lack of loyalty, per se... personally, I’ve never claimed to be some kind of superstar, but I found myself losing my patience watching that sluggish, aimless wandering across the pitch. If you aren't playing at your best, then fine, but for heaven's sake, run, fight, show some grit... It’s honestly quite disheartening to see that Stojanovic, who is one of those players seemingly detached from the core effort, is actually the one diving into duels with the most intensity.

I can't even begin to describe how much I despise him. 😂
