Ego, explain your bias to me. in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The real issue here is the diagnosis, honestly. It’s not about whether people have the right to label some specific percentage of Catholics as killers or the greatest evil in history—I mean, I won't even get into the numbers, that's just a rabbit hole.
Ridiculous...

I see those posts are still flying without any moderation. Honestly, I know the specific mods mentioned aren't ever going to issue a strike—I've seen it happen countless times already—but I guess I'm just hoping someone else steps up to at least flag them as trolling and treats them accordingly.

Gregory Turner71 said:Since the whole platform is constantly throwing around labels like communists, old-school partisans, or whatever other divisive political slurs you can think of, I don't see what's so wrong with my posts.

I mean, as long as there’s an equal sign between "your" specific terms and those other insults, then sure, maybe there's nothing controversial about it.
But the real issue—and I guess this goes back to what someone else already pointed out—is how some people get totally blacklisted while others just get a free pass.

Well, I guess that’s why we have courts and legal recourse, right? 🙂

Like, for instance, if you decided to slander me, I’d probably just sue you...

hiddenlynx66 said:I honestly find it hard to believe that some people on Reddit are so eager to spread lies about others, while others are just as ready to defend that kind of behavior... 🤦

I’ve been completely transparent about my own actions, but if I were the one organizing that protest, I’d probably be facing legal action right now. Claiming a rally was paid for isn't some kind of "assessment" or "analysis" of an event—it’s nothing more than pure slander.

The saddest part is seeing actual people with real names being slandered by cowards hiding behind screen names. If you actually have the guts, why not use your real name and then give us your "analysis"? 🙂

There are always people with enough backbone, I guess, though why they don't show up here more often is a whole different story...

So, what did your buddies say when you sent them that link that "slanders" them?
Was there enough evidence there to actually file a lawsuit?

Brenda Cook4 said:No, this isn't some case of being stuck in the past. This is a calculated tactic to gag people and strip away their right to speak freely. But here's the kicker: it only seems to apply to certain groups. Just look at today's headline in the USA Today bold print—and mind you, this targets entire groups of people rather than criticizing a single individual. This is what they're labeling as "hate speech": Theologian Adalbert Rebic: 'A conspiracy of gays, communists, and lesbians will destroy America!'
And let me say it again: this kind of punishment sets an incredibly dangerous precedent.

So, what's actually the difference between Rebic and Grubisic, other than who they're aiming their "criticism" at?

Did someone freeze you all back in the fifties and just now thaw you out, leaving you unable to navigate democracy and freedom of speech? It's always "Oh, someone touched my sacred ground, let's drag them to the gallows!" 😲 😠
I honestly can't believe what I'm reading. 😕

I'll say it again: I guess we really are just a bunch of sheep... 😉

I am not asserting that Bozanic is the ultimate extremist among the American people (as I would certainly need to provide proof for that), but rather pointing out that these views are being expressed and argued by a priest and a member of Congress in the public media.
If he is permitted to say it—and under the US Constitution, he is—then why shouldn't anyone else? America is a democratic and secular nation where everyone is entitled to reasoned criticism. From public figures to religious institutions and other sacred matters. Prohibiting the critique of individuals or beliefs feels very much like a throwback to a bygone era.

Furthermore, it really is difficult to draw the line between legitimate criticism and pure insult. The only true metric we have is the quantity and quality of the arguments presented.

We get it. At least, I hope most of us 😁

Critiquing or, say, "politely" insulting Bozanic doesn't hit me personally, and I doubt most people feel that way either. I don't think it should be punished with anything spectacular, especially if you look at the context of the whole discussion. Though, I suppose similar rules should probably apply when it comes to insulting the "non-religious" users on these forums, too.

That said, I'd want to touch on those who aren't exactly "public figures." You mentioned your example about how one could call the Virgin Mary a cook without facing sanctions, provided there's an argument behind it. But if there isn't an argument? Then it's a 35-point penalty. Fine. Whatever. It’s a very clear message from this forum's administration.

Walter Brooks5 said:Great, so I’m sending you a public copy of this post just to show you what actual reciprocity looks like. This is how democracy works, and it’s how we distinguish legitimate criticism from being a total jerk—you know, those baseless, brute-force insults that pass for "critique" on this forum:

Let’s pull out this crucial snippet that will surely end up in an anthology of human "genius":

Based on our debate in the Situation Room, we agreed that anyone and everything can be criticized—especially public figures, because that’s just how democracy functions. But trying to draw a line between someone actually criticizing you versus just straight-up insulting you is basically impossible, so we decided the only real benchmark is whether there's an actual argument behind it. If there is, we can write it down—even if it's saying the Virgin Mary is a slut without any consequences, whereas saying "your mom is a slut" gets you slapped. We also established that unprovokedly insulting public figures or sacred things earns you nothing more than the ultimate punishment: getting trolled (35).

Given what was highlighted, I’m sure shadoworca3 definitely has some rock-solid arguments to back up the claim that Bozanic is truly the "greatest Catholic-Taliban of all time," right???

Well, let’s see those arguments, because if they're solid, maybe Daniel Ward87 won't have to hit the Unknown with a total ban!!!

It’s all wrapped up pretty nicely in cellophane, I suppose, but the fact remains—and it’s been confirmed now—that they'll just say, "Just clean it up to satisfy the majority of citizens," and the maximum penalty will be 35 points.

What personally strikes me, though... if you can call it that... is the situation where most citizens in this country are basically just a flock of sheep. And I don't mean that from a religious angle, quite the opposite; they’re actually the ones breathing "life" into these viewpoints, and into this forum too, I guess.

brisknomad6 said:So, out of all the active threads here, you chose to leave a post in the Maltese thread (not in general chat or anything—specifically the Maltese one).

Furthermore, right at the top of the list, there’s a thread about getting a pet.

http://www.example-us-forum.com/showthread.php?t=650890

where it clearly states you should check the NFL breeder lists.

Basically, you didn't bother reading the thread titles or looking for the specific breed thread, yet you somehow found the energy/time to open a complaint thread.

Cool!

Just so we aren't repeating ourselves, the post was deleted, not moved...
How much effort I actually put in is something you absolutely can't know; you can only try to resonate at such a low level...

Cool 👍

Here I am, someone with zero experience with dogs, being told I'm lazy, that I didn't try hard enough to read titles, that I don't know breed specifics (though I assume Maltese and Bichons have some connection), and being pointed toward the prospective owner thread when my post clearly stated I'm not one (it was emphasized the pet is for my niece).
Wonderful...
And your whole understanding regarding my post on this PDF is completely off base; I wasn't complaining about anything, I just left a comment.
The main thing is that you've "figured me out"...

Didi@, after I sent my message and waited for a reply, you were still active on the forum (it shows in your posts) and you just couldn't find the time to answer me. I get it, you aren't an information desk or someone on the payroll for this. I should emphasize that my post on this PDF wasn't directed at you, nor did I mention you by name. For reasons known only to you, you felt called upon to respond to my comment and flip the script...

As far as I'm concerned, you can lock the thread; I certainly won't be bothering you on your PDF.

bluerider2 said:Another moderator deleted your post, and I’m just here to provide some extra context while she decides how to respond. You asked if I was the one who wiped your post, and once I told you no, you then went on to ask where and for what price you could pick up a Havanese Bichon.

My answer stays the same—just check with the NBA. We don't support buying pets without papers or from illegal breeders over on the KLJ subforum. Look, we get it, people are still going to buy pets from shady backyard breeders or smugglers, but we aren't about to act as middlemen for that kind of thing.

Besides, you dropped a question about Havanese Bichons in a thread specifically for Maltese, and there’s an entire dedicated section for Bichons. You'd think someone with 155 posts would have noticed and actually read the pinned threads like the Rules, where users are explicitly told to check out the topic list before jumping in.

You ignored all of that, yet somehow feel entitled to criticize how the KLJ mods handle things. Seriously, if you happened to add Reddit to your Favorites, maybe go ahead and remove it. Thanks! 🙂

Like, why would I be adding or removing anything from my favorites? Honestly, given how polite you're being, I don't think that's really your concern...

But let's just take this step by step:

1. Your reply took hours. If you actually wanted to answer me, you could've done it way sooner (I opened this thread an hour after my initial question and that first message from you). Don't try to frame it like I'm disrespecting your response. And yeah, why would I buy a dog—which is for my niece, by the way—from a smuggler? You clearly think I'm some kind of criminal, someone totally insignificant, let alone someone worth asking for info...

2. Yeah, okay, I posted it under Maltese. But I asked you where I should go for info if I messed up, and what was your answer?
The thread you're now suggesting (I saw it, by the way) has had maybe three posts in the last two years. That's why I left my post in a much more active thread....
I don't think I broke any rules regarding decent communication. I asked for help, and you guys wouldn't give it. I mean, do I need to finish a four-year degree just to find basic information buried in your PDF? With all due respect to "proper communication," tell me, or maybe I should just pick a different major entirely?

And look, I have every right to criticize anyone's work if I feel like it's not right. It's not like the world is ending for either of us. I got the info I needed from places where people are actually willing to help and share what they know, unlike you guys....

Just a side note: I sent you one single message and waited hours for a response that didn't show up until long after I started this thread.
Best,

Anyway, thanks.

So, if anyone can help me out... I’m looking for that old-school "search" functionality, you know? Something like what we had back in Windows XP where you could actually pick exactly what you were hunting for—like specific text, folders, videos, whatever.

I mean, I don't know... I'm not even sure if I should be asking this, but do those default gadgets actually work for you? Like, at all? 😁

See, that’s where I think the snag is. I mean, they work fine by default on other setups, right? But for some reason, this specific machine just won't recognize them. That's the real headache, I guess. Maybe there's something off with how this hardware is talking to the software... who knows. It's just frustrating.
