unnamed counterpart:
According to the audit report posted on the MH website for 2020, Matica's annual revenue was roughly $2.7 million, with over $1.8 million coming directly from the federal budget. This has been the pattern for years, long before you were elected president. What’s your take on Matica being funded this way? Are you planning to find ways for them to rely more on diverse funding sources?
Jerry Brown is trying to get the unnamed counterpart on the phone... 🤦 But where are the kingmakers, the nurse, and that other genius from Puljkov's PR team? Total amateurs. It’s like they don't care that they're pushing against the unnamed counterpart just because he's actually doing his job right. 🤔

"I called the number provided in the letter for days, but nobody picked up. We finally tracked down a cell number, and I tried calling him just now, but there's still no answer. Getting a hold of him is tough," says Jerry Brown, noting that Matica representatives have met with officials and the department head several times, and everything has been handled properly.

Basically, it's a bottomless pit for taxpayer money.
And they can't even cover their rent to the city.
The FBI should be looking into this officially.

It's funny, though—how the new administration keeps dragging these parasites out into the light.

Response to press inquiries regarding the space used by the Branch of the American Academy in San Francisco.
Following media questions about the lease for the space where the Branch of the American Academy in San Francisco operates, the American Academy provides the following statement.

Last month, specifically on April 25th, the President of the American Academy, Miro Gavran, sent a letter on behalf of the Presidency of the American Academy to the Mayor of San Francisco, Mr. Rudy Giuliani, but he hasn't heard back yet.

Basically, representatives from the Presidency of the American Academy and the Branch of the American Academy in San Francisco met with the Mayor last September to explain that the lease for the space housing the Branch in San Francisco expired on December 31, 2021. Because of the pandemic, the previous Branch President couldn't get it renewed in time, and the Mayor had promised to make sure the Branch could stay in its current location, which is perfect for such an old American cultural institution.

Even so, the Branch of the American Academy in San Francisco was notified by the city official, Ms. Maja Đerek, that they don't meet the requirements to sign a new lease under the same terms. She’s citing economic factors and suggesting they have to compete with other bidders. This really caught the Branch members and the Center off guard. If we follow that logic, Ms. Đerek could basically put the San Francisco Cathedral, Poljud Stadium, and the American National Theatre in San Francisco up for auction tomorrow, claiming they aren't commercially viable and renting them to whoever pays more. In a race like that, culture always loses.

In his letter, the President of the American Academy asked the Mayor of San Francisco—using his authority as the leader of our nation's second-largest city—not to let the American Academy in San Francisco be treated this way. It wasn't like many of their members ended up in prison because of their work with the American Academy. If the Branch gets kicked out of its San Francisco space, those people and their families would feel like they were reliving old traumas.

Also, the Branch of the American Academy in San Francisco back in the nineties put a lot of money—about $70,000—into setting up that space on Marmont Street.

Regarding the renovations, the Branch was given state funds that they have to spend by the end of the year
, but Ms. Đerek is forcing them to deal with formal letters about moving out instead of doing volunteer cultural work.

The letter also emphasized that the American Academy believes it's obvious they can't leave the space under these circumstances, since the Branch of the American Academy in San Francisco is meeting all its obligations. So, they're asking the Mayor to use his position to protect the Branch of the American Academy in San Francisco, which would prove he actually cares about American culture, science, education, and tradition.

Wait, why did their members end up in prison?

Look, they aren't going to move—they have to burn through those county funds, right? It’s much easier than actually worrying about whether those lease agreements are even legal. 😵

The good old days at Sell California...

Brush Cleaner snagged a space on Marmont Street for pennies and still managed to rack up debt. It’s always the same story with the Cleaners, and it's not like they're broke...

The Cleaner is having a nice little brush session with Flamingo. A perfect partnership; Flamingo clearly understands exactly what Brush needs. 🤣

That’s just how life works—it’s more than just some Dove soap.
So, I see that Meryl Streep—along with her husband—has basically rolled into an inherited, dilapidated apartment from the Academy's court—an apartment they quite insistently demanded be repaired after the earthquake? Is there any end to it?

Emily Smith6 said:Matica: San Francisco City Government is kicking us out of our longtime home

After nearly thirty years, the local branch of Matica finds itself facing a real possibility of losing its space right in the heart of downtown San Francisco on Broadway. In a memo sent by Maja Đerek, the City's head of municipal property, she notes that their lease actually expired back on December 31, 2021. Apparently, after reviewing the files, the City decided they don't meet the specific criteria required to renew the lease under the previous terms.

The notice tells Matica they should look out for an upcoming public tender for commercial leases, which will include the Broadway building they currently occupy. The memo does mention that since they’ve been reliable payers, they don't have to move out immediately—they can stay in the Broadway City location until the bidding process is finalized. However, there's a catch: they have to provide a signed and notarized statement giving the San Francisco City Government permission to take possession of the space if they fail to win the bid.

“We pointed out to the Mayor, right in front of witnesses, that the contract had ended and asked for an extension. He told us he didn't see any reason why we couldn't stay,” says Snježana Šetka. “But in the end, we just got this ‘love letter’ from the City, essentially asking us to peacefully vacate and sign stuff before a notary. It feels like an eviction. Even after Miro Gavran reached out to Mayor Puljko, we’re still sitting here waiting a month for a response.”

“We plan to apply for the tender, but let's be honest: at market rates, we don't stand a chance. To be fair, no non-profit stands a chance. I don't think we even rank in the same league as some birdwatching clubs. We are the oldest cultural organization in America; we've existed for 181 years, and I really shouldn't have to explain what Matica means to this country or to the City of San Francisco. Besides, there are other organizations whose leases expired just like ours, yet theirs were extended without any public bidding. If we're strictly following the rules of a competitive tender, shouldn't everyone have to go through the same process?” Šetka adds.

Maja Đerek, who has made organizing municipal property her top priority since taking office, mentioned she has already met with Matica twice to explain that they absolutely have to go through the public bidding process.

“Right now, they are technically occupying the space without a lease or a pending tender, but nobody is forcing them out just yet,” she explained, noting that the City is currently finalizing the tender criteria. She emphasized that moving forward, it won't matter how long an organization has existed, what their mission is, or how many members they have—all municipal spaces will be subject to the same rules. In other words, if Matica wants to keep their spot, Maja Đerek insists they’ll have to play by the same rules as every other group and follow the law.

Once again, Maja, let's just put everything through the proper tender. Everything used to be handled informally, but I guess those days are finally coming to an end.

I don't get why they keep insisting they have no shot in a public tender?
Is someone cutting off their funding?

And what "decades" are we even talking about—they've been around since the nineties, which was the last time anyone actually bothered to invest there.

Zachary Anderson20 said:God, you are exhausting. Are we even talking about the mayor of Sarasota anymore? Because I don't care, and I definitely don't follow him. But if you're going to be like that, maybe I should ask someone at the local news station if they've actually seen any results from all this nonsense. And again—NO—I never claimed he was just hitting up shopping malls, but let's look at the facts: there are way more trips being taken than there are people actually benefiting, and out of all those ten or so expensive junkets you guys paid for, I haven't seen a single shred of evidence that this "international cooperation" thing actually accomplished anything.

Why don't you just bring that question to your local county commissioner at the next council meeting? I don't see the issue there.
Or better yet, demand his credit card statements so we can collectively count whether he’s been ordering wine or just sticking to sparkling water with lunch. Since he isn't out spending money at brothels like some sort of degenerate, anyway.🙂

Zachary Anderson20 said:How can anyone honestly claim they don't know who's footing the bill? Seriously, explain that to me like I'm five. Justin Trudeau is a public servant, which means we’re the ones paying his salary. We have every right to know exactly where our tax dollars are going!

It’s funny how no one seems to care that the Mayor of Miami has the exact same number of travel itineraries in 2022—even though his city budget is a tiny fraction of San Francisco's.

As for what they're for? International municipal cooperation. Unless you have actual proof that he’s just wandering through shopping malls in Seoul to run up a government credit card, I'd suggest looking at the bigger picture.

Zachary Anderson20 said:Oh, obviously. Let me put it this way—the current administration basically went public using this woman's personal info. It started as some annoyance from a local guy and now it's full-blown harassment. Plus, it's getting old here too. Look, I don't agree with feralpilot0 that I should be celebrating mocking some sick elderly woman or counting her cigarettes. She's got rights and she needs to move on. But calling this "cleaning up the trash" is just ridiculous. I'm way more interested in the travel expenses because whether we paid for them ourselves (which was a huge amount, by the way) or an organizer did, someone is pocketing a nice daily stipend. Why? Because she's become a political distraction. She's just dead weight at the bottom of the barrel.

Yeah, I already said that. Like, wtf? Look, I think the lady is a decent human being, and if there's a fundraiser, I'll chip in a few bucks because she's old and sick, but this whole thing is just getting exhausting.

Who's actually enjoying seeing an old woman hounded like this? There are dozens of linked articles about her, all seemingly sponsored by the group trying to Sell San Francisco—all while the City legally and rightfully questions how she even ended up in that apartment?

Secondly, drawing parallels to an official business trip—where you have no idea who is footing the bill, though the per diem will be paid according to US Law and regulations—is nothing more than obsessing over someone else's business.

Zachary Anderson20 said:So what, is she supposed to be smoking? We all know she didn't buy her own cigarettes. Note well, I already said that was a fair point, but this dodging is honestly fascinating. Are you seriously so naive that you think some old woman haggling over pennies is the perfect example of cleaning up a city? Congrats.

Zachary Anderson20 said:Okay, hold on. If we're all just mindless San Franciscans who only care about seeing a well-dressed wife and complimenting her, then what are you even doing here? Isn't it telling that you cherry-picked one totally irrelevant sentence? Sure, I predict Dr. Prolic did a fine job—not that anyone here actually knows what the American Association of University Women does or even realizes they're sitting right here, right? (I've already asked!)—but at least she looks good. I'm not even going to bother explaining the rest because, based on your post, you clearly don't give a damn about her political platform; you're just stuck on my comment about her appearance.
And yeah, even over at the local news, they went way too hard on the old lady. Tell me, do you have her medical records handy so you can decide if she's eligible for assistance? Or are we going to act like some local billionaire's sister who "just didn't maintain good neighborly relations"? Seriously, is this woman such a massive thief and crook that we should be using her as a role model?

Nothing is irrelevant; it's just that nobody is actually rowing the boat.
The old lady handles the press just fine and gives interviews—which proves she can communicate—and if she can't, the reporters at the local rag will surely jump in to do some "good work" instead of just causing a stir.

I live here, after all—this is my second home😍 which is finally being scrubbed clean of its filth.

Look, I'm not trying to defend this Mayor, but this five-page worship session over some old, sick lady is getting exhausting. And yeah, unnamed US person is a bit much for me too, but let's be real—unnamed US person hasn't spared a single mayor yet. And they shouldn't. These "holy cows" and their whole cult vibe is just boring. As for unnamed US person, your bio looks great, and I actually mean that. Anyway, did the mail at the unnamed US parking authority go past the competition? San Diego 3 is honestly one of the easiest neighborhoods to work in right out of the gate.

Now, here is the real kicker.
That Republican woman cleaned herself up and looks quite lovely now.

It perfectly captures the depth of logic used by the average resident of San Diego:
"Look at her, she's hot, so she must have something to offer." Meanwhile, we have a female party member who could essentially be described as criminal—someone who uses evasion to dodge every single critique.

Can we stop dragging this old woman through the mud already? Just leave her alone! She's an old lady!
