The film is excellent surface-level action—fascinatingly conceived and, on Michelle Yeoh's part, brilliantly executed; she really went all out like nobody else.
It’s perfect for the TikTok generation, who constantly need to be stimulated by faster and crazier cuts.
When it comes to analyzing the plot and deconstructing this mess, the film is an artistically worthless piece—just a collection of Coen-esque nonsense wrapped up in one of those "origins of the universe" theories, specifically the multiverse.
In one of them, a mother (among others) in a struggle larger than life accepts her lesbian daughter while simultaneously blaming her husband—all while speaking two languages as a way to force home this Oscar-bait message. I suppose South Koreans aren't the new mass market anymore; now it's China.
For some reason, alongside that touching message, the film is also overflowing with BDSM props—you've got butt plugs, gags, every kind of dildo, and all sorts of penetration gadgets.
I don't buy into multiverses.

The movie was reasonably entertaining. To be honest, once the action kicked in, I found myself watching mostly just to see how the director and the writers would attempt to untangle the plot. They managed to pull it off well enough, I suppose. It could have been better, but it was certainly solid.
I get it—but when a Michelin-starred chef says it, you can't help but feel a certain respect for the choice.

Satire that just missed the mark entirely.
It’s a mess—bad pacing and an ending so nauseating you can almost feel it. Some American sex worker decides to take out her frustrations by slamming a cheeseburger into a world-class chef's face, then proceeds to set a whole damn ship on fire. Honestly? I actually laughed at the "cheese"—it looked like straight-up plastic.
I finally processed that ending—it’s clear that they’re going to die as a direct consequence of their own passivity.
The way they return and everything that follows... it's such a twisted, brilliant pivot that elevates the whole thing to a masterpiece. 👍
