Yeah, I did. But honestly, the fan is screaming and the CPU is running hot even when I'm just sitting there doing nothing. I let it run for an hour just to see if it would actually boot up. This thing hasn't been cleaned once; it’s easily 5 or 6 years old now. It only kicks on once it gets hot enough. Been down this road before. Honestly? Probably not worth the fix... :@
Lights come on, fan starts spinning, but absolutely nothing else. Just a black screen. No blinking lights, no beeps. Zilch. I already pulled the battery, held down the power button for a full minute, tried every possible RAM combo... Nothing works. Don't have an extra monitor lying around to test that. Anyone got any other bright ideas?
Checked out that page. No standalone USB 3.0 drivers to grab there. Just the chipset package, which is a massive 2.45 GB. The USB 3.0 drivers are tucked away inside that.
They’re eating up 6 GB on my end. Honestly? Don't touch a thing unless you actually know what you're doing. I run regular backups with Norton Ghost anyway, so losing 1.5 GB isn't exactly breaking the bank. Better yet, run CCleaner to clear out the junk before you start your backup.
Rufus organizes everything perfectly into folders and even builds you a start menu. From what I can tell, nothing gets dumped into the root directory. You can still use the stick like any other drive—toss some programs on there like Office or whatever else you need. Pro tip: just make your own dedicated folder and stash everything in there. Doesn't look like there's a remove option, unfortunately...🤦
EDIT: Yumi just doesn't get how to handle dual Windows installs. So, I went ahead and built a multiboot drive using WinSetupFromUSB instead. Loaded up Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Mint, and Ubuntu—everything boots just fine. On both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, I hit the part where it asks you to pick an installation partition. I don't have a spare rig handy to test the full install process, but honestly, this looks like my only shot right now. LP
I don't even know which defrag tool you're running. Honestly, why bother stressing? It’s not like your folder is going to balloon past the restore limit you set anyway.
