Adjusting margins on my HP ENVY 6000 in Computer Peripherals ·

It’s not an option—but thanks for asking.
Adjusting margins on my HP ENVY 6000 in Computer Peripherals ·
Hey everyone, I’m trying to adjust the margins for some printing jobs on my HP ENVY 6000. I'm specifically printing tickets through an online shop.

Their setup requires running their own Ticketmaster service—which is definitely up and running on my end. The thing is, when you hit "Print" on the website, it doesn't trigger the standard browser print dialog box at all.

The drivers are all set, and I'm running Windows 10. The headache is that no matter what I tweak in the printer settings, the device just completely ignores the driver options whenever I try to print via the shop's interface. It's like the settings aren't even being read.

I ran into this exact same wall about two years ago—back then I was using the same model, though if I recall correctly, I was on Windows 8.1. At that time, I managed to dig through the printer files, found a .ini or .dll file, and manually edited the margin values. That fixed it right up, but now I can't find the specific file where those settings are buried.

Does anyone have any leads or ideas on how to track this down?
Best ways to declutter and sell a bunch of stuff? in Miscellaneous ·
Hi there,

My wife and I just realized our place is overflowing with stuff we don't actually need—but it’s all in great shape. We're talking a massive amount of women's clothing (everything is well-maintained and looks good), books, various electronics, kitchenware, and honestly, the list goes on... we have a ton of stuff 🙂

We've decided to either sell it all off or donate it to anyone who truly needs it, so we're looking for the best way to move it. I'm assuming the whole "yard sale" thing isn't really the standard way to go around here. We want to clear this out as quickly as possible—price isn't even our main priority, we just want it gone. Is it better to sell things in lots, item by item, post them in Facebook groups, try something like eBay or Poshmark, or just load up a trailer and head to a flea market?

Any and all suggestions are welcome 🙂

Hey there,

I’ve been looking at picking up a MacBook Pro 13" (specifically the mf840cr/a model), and I'm wondering if it makes sense to hold off until something like a Black Friday sale—maybe closer to Christmas—to see if I can snag a deal. What are the actual odds of finding a real discount? My logic is that with the new models hitting the shelves, the older ones might finally see a price drop—but then again, we're talking about Apple here, so you never really know what to expect.

What’s your take on this?
Running my own web server?? in IT Support ·
Of course—the computer has to stay powered on since it’s acting as the server. I'm not entirely sure about the ROI on that, but there are plenty of beginner tutorials out there showing you how to set everything up on Linux without any hiccups. If you're feeling adventurous, maybe try hooking up a Raspberry Pi or some other low-power device first.

Once you've got the server configured, you'll need to handle some port forwarding on your router and link it up to a service like No-IP—assuming you don't have a static IP from your ISP. Just let me know if you want to dive into the specifics.🙂

I can't access the image—could you try sharing it a different way? 🙂
I ran into a similar headache with my Dell—it was a bit of a weird quirk. Basically, if I had the dual graphics enabled in the BIOS, everything would start stuttering and acting up the second the drivers were installed. Maybe try playing around with those settings and see if that clears it up for you.

Look, I don't have all the answers—I'm just trying to use some common sense here, which is why I'm asking. 😁

From what I've gathered lately, the way things work now is that they carry these USB sticks around—they just plug them straight into the PC to see if anyone is running fake software.

I'm really at a loss here. :/

Hi there,

I’m pretty familiar with how different types of licenses work, but this one is tripping me up—will a Windows 7 Dell OEM version actually install on just any random computer?

And if it does, is it "official" enough that if an auditor swings by my office, they won't start breathing down my neck about compliance?

I’ve got two licenses I picked up online; the disc and the sticker both say Dell, but there isn't a single mention of 😁
on them.
Thanks for the tip. I was eyeing the i5 because I figured it would be more than enough to get by—it seemed like a safe bet. The real issue is my budget; I really don't want to shell out more than $450 for this whole setup.

Should I go with a Gigabyte card, or just stick to one or two gigs of VRAM?
Hi everyone.

I'm new to the forum—not entirely sure if this is the right spot for my question. If I've missed the mark, please point me 😁

So, here's the deal: I've put together a build, but since I've never done this before, I'm a bit unsure if I've actually picked the right parts.

My main goal is to ensure video editing times stay somewhat reasonable. I realize that for my budget, I won't be walking away with some ultra-high-end workstation—but I need enough horsepower to edit HD footage without losing my mind in the process. Gaming isn't really a priority for me, so that's not a major factor.

I'm planning on picking everything up at Accenture since their prices seem to be the most competitive.

Here is what I have so far:

Intel Core i5-4590 $599

GIGABYTE GA-B85M-DS3H $184

Crucial 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz $173

Seagate HDD 1TB,7200rpm, 32MB $158

EVGA Hyper 600 w, 80+ $162

Sharkoon VG4-S case, blue, 2x120mm $100

I'm stuck on the graphics card—I can't quite figure out which one provides the right balance of performance. I've been looking at these options, but please feel free to suggest something else if you think I'm off base:

Palit GTX960 JetStream

Radeon R9 270X

MSI GTX 960

Also, I'm considering adding an SSD—what are your thoughts on that?

Naturally, I'm trying to keep costs down, but I need it to be functional for my work. I'd appreciate any feedback you can offer. I'm just putting the case together; I already have the rest of the components. If I've overlooked a cable or a fan, please let me know—I'm looking to pull the trigger on this purchase pretty quickly.

Thanks for the help! 😁 😁
