Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Does anyone happen to know a solid diagnostic clinic with doctors outside of the States? Please shoot me a DM with any info. Dealing with some health stuff and honestly, nobody here seems to be able to figure out what's actually going on with me.

I’ve got this whole laundry list of issues and pains going on, and honestly, I just need a doctor who’s actually on another level—someone more like Dr. House who can look at the big picture. I need someone to actually investigate how everything connects instead of just staring at one single thing and passing me off to five different specialists. I’m looking for a top-tier diagnostician, whether that’s here in the States or even somewhere abroad, because I am seriously hitting a wall
If anyone knows someone or has heard of a genius out there, please let me know. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you don't want to post it here.

With stuff like this, you can get inflammation in all sorts of places—other joints, tendons, whatever else is hanging around the joint area. Even that dry mouth thing could point toward another autoimmune issue. Honestly, my best advice? Go see a rheumatologist first. An internist specializing in rheumatology is your best bet, but if you can't swing that, find a physiatrist who handles rheumatology. Let a pro figure out the next steps.

my rheumatologist-immunologist basically just shrugs and tells me they have no clue what's going on, and honestly, I'm stuck unless I want to shell out a ton of cash for private specialists!
could this maybe be related to nerve issues in the brain, and what kind of stuff would we even be talking about there?

Give me your age, gender, what meds you're on, any health issues you've dealt with (high blood pressure, diabetes, whatever), any past traumas, and when this all started. How did it kick in? Any family history of illness? Also, be specific about the symptoms and where exactly it hurts—like, are there swollen lymph nodes in your neck or anything? If you give us more to work with, someone can actually help or at least point you toward the right specialist. Right now, you're being way too vague. I could just tell you to see a neurologist, but honestly, with neck and jaw pain, you might need an internist, an ENT, or even a dentist. Help me out here. Cheers.

31 / F. As far as medical stuff goes, I've got Bechterew
It just hit me out of nowhere back in July and hasn't let up since. Can't feel any swollen lymph nodes. As for meds, I started taking Salazopyrin about 10 days ago.
So, I’ve got this constant ache in the base of my neck, and my mouth feels insanely dry—like, bone-dry—but it’s not because I’m dehydrated or because of any meds I'm taking. It just won't stop, even if I'm constantly sipping water. On top of that, there's this weird tingling sensation, almost like numbness, hitting my lips, the tip of my tongue, and even the bridge of my nose. My jaw is killing me too, and it's not just an occasional thing; it stays like this for days on end. To make matters worse, my face keeps flushing red, feeling hot, and I get these feverish sensations. Honestly, I'm at a total loss... I don't even know which specialist I should be bugging about all this, or what could possibly be causing such a mess. Any ideas?
So, does anyone else deal with this absolute nightmare where my neck just hurts everywhere—especially the front part? Plus, there’s this weird tightening in my face and constant tingling through my tongue and cheeks... total freak show. Could this all just be anxiety doing its thing, or what? I tried taking some xanax but nothing's really kicked in yet. My blood work is totally fine though, everything from the basics to my thyroid is normal
Fair question... does anyone in America or even anywhere else in Europe actually know a diagnostic genius? You know, someone on the level of Dr. House? Around here, doctors just stay stuck in their own little silos, barely looking up from their own specialty, and honestly, people end up getting terrible care because of it. It’s frustrating. If anyone knows of—or has even heard rumors about—a real diagnostician out there, please let me know. It would be a massive help.

So, when you’re dealing with this kind of illness, is it just a straight shot downhill? Like, does everything just get progressively worse over time, or can you actually have decent days where things feel okay, even if the bad days eventually catch up?
I’m asking because the doctors aren't even 100% sure if my brother actually has it yet. He didn't even get a bone marrow biopsy or anything, they just did standard blood work.

wiredcanyon2 said:It really depends on which viral meningitis you're dealing with, or if it's even meningitis at all. Viral cases are usually "milder" than bacterial ones, but doctors still run a lumbar puncture to check the microbiology and biochemistry of the spinal fluid. That's basically how they figure out if it's bacterial or viral. Honestly, it’s hard to say what might happen—anything could go wrong if you don't know what you've got or if you aren't getting treated right. Take care.

Wait, isn't the rule for bacterial stuff that your blood work and white cell count have to be elevated?

so what happens if you just flat out refuse a lumbar puncture when there's a chance you've got viral meningitis? like, how bad can it get? and how long am i stuck dealing with these symptoms?

Can you actually spot meningitis—especially the viral kind—on an MRI? I'm looking for people who are 100% sure on this, it's pretty important to me
