stormymoose792 said:If you're hoping for a tiny, cute nose, you'll probably end up disappointed because I seriously doubt you'll get that from Dr. Davor Džepina.. 🙂 At least, that was my experience. Essentially, he doesn't respect what the patient actually wants; he just does things his way, even if I spend the final minutes before surgery practically screaming at him about what we agreed upon. Did the doctor even show you any photos or results from his previous surgeries?

Hmm, my goal is to have a nose that complements my facial features and fits perfectly. If that means having a small, cute nose, then that is exactly what I want—but if such a nose would look ridiculous on me, I’d much rather the doctor create something that actually suits my face.
That is precisely why I would never dream of seeing Glumičić; he seems to work from a single template, producing noses that don't suit everyone.

I haven't had my consultation with the doctor yet (I'm still waiting to scrape together the last bit of cash), but I've been reading about him here and looking through some of his articles online. He comes across as someone who truly knows his craft and doesn't make empty promises. In fact, he emphasizes that every face is unique and points out that patients often request noses that wouldn't look good on them at all.
Of course, my opinion might change once I actually sit down and talk with him. I simply don't want to wake up after surgery with a nose that looks identical to everyone else's or suffers from the same issue—a terrible tip.

I am truly sorry you aren't happy with the result; I completely understand where you're coming from. I don't know what your communication was like with the doctor, but if he promised you one thing and delivered something entirely different, I can certainly empathize with your bitterness. I would feel exactly the same way. 😢
I really hope that, as time passes, your nose settles into the shape you were hoping for. Is it possible there is still significant swelling?
What did the doctor tell you during your post-op follow-up? Why do you think he didn't honor your wishes?

What did you think of the photos he showed you? What was the deciding factor that led you to choose him specifically?
slydriver56, which doctor are you seeing?
Please, could you let me know how you feel after the surgery? The tip of my nose is also my biggest concern; from what I understand, that’s the hardest part to get right, and you really need someone with a specific "touch" for it.
Have you happened to find out about any doctors who are actually good at this?
I’m planning on having surgery myself very soon, and Dave Džepina is still my top choice, but I am absolutely terrified that I won't end up with the results I actually want.
Basically, the tip is what needs the most reduction for me—it's large and fleshy. Ugh.
placidlynx12, would you mind sharing some photos with me as well? 🙂
Ashley Gomez said:I finally put together some before and after photos, so if anyone wants to see them, just shoot me a DM.

It’s been three months since my surgery. The peak is still a bit swollen, and I’m really hoping that little bump at the top settles down soon. As for the profile—from the mold removal stage onwards—I think it looks pretty good... at least, that's how it looks to me.

Could you send some pics my way too? 🙂
Kate Taylor59 said:Well, the tip is usually the hardest part to fix because you can't mess with it too much without affecting breathing... if you go too far, you won't be able to breathe at all. And since I have thick skin, this whole thing is just a nightmare...

Oh, please... 😢 That is exactly what I’m terrified of. Honestly, I would undergo surgery just to get rid of that stupid, unsightly tip. I realize you can't slim things down significantly if the tip is already narrow and small, but for heaven's sake, if the tip itself is wide and the bridge is bulky, shouldn't bringing everything to a normal, average size be fine? It shouldn't impact breathing functionality, right? At least, that's what I'm hoping.

But it's so strange. I always assumed rhinoplasty was most difficult because of breaking bones and removing humps, but apparently... the real issue is the tip.
Carol Diaz31 said:There might be other approaches—you should definitely ask them—but honestly, I think it’s better to just get it done so the peak stays exactly where they set it, rather than having it sag again down the road. Plus, isn't it better to let them reshape the cartilage naturally instead of relying on some synthetic filler? And besides, you aren't even talking about much here. 😁

I'm not sure if you've come across this yet, but there's more info on the subject here: http://www.toncic.net/hr/kirurski-za...-nosnog-vrska/

I have no idea how I managed to miss that! 🙄
Thank you so much! 🙂 I feel a lot better now. My very first thought was that they were going to lop off half my ear (I know, I know, sounds insane), but truth be told, I am a total wimp when it comes to doctors and surgery.
Of course, if I'm already heading under the knife, I want to make absolutely certain this is the last time I ever have to deal with it. Thanks again!
steelangler88 said:I am just going to lose it!!😠
My tip has dropped SO much. I already have a third surgery scheduled for some other minor issue sometime this winter, but this stupid tip is driving me absolutely crazy. And then there's the size of my lower nose—I honestly don't know what to do, I'm just venting here.😢

steelangler88, how did you even deal with the tip issue in the first place? I mean, you already had surgery and now it's drooping again... and I'm also worried about the size of my lower nose and the tip itself, sigh... Who are you seeing now? la Diosi had Tončić create such a beautiful tip using cartilage grafting, so it clearly can be done... please don't despair... 😉
Carol Diaz31 said:I had that exact same issue where my cartilage was lacking, making the tip look too prominent and pointing downward in a sort of spike shape. He fixed it perfectly by trimming it and using the extra cartilage he removed from the hump to fill out the area—even though you usually take that from behind the ear, since there was already excess material right there, it worked out beautifully and now it looks great.
So, there really is no reason for you to be skeptical about this type of reconstruction. 👍

Oh, Carol Diaz31! Honestly, it's because of you that I'm even considering Tončić. I know we have (or rather, we had 😁) incredibly similar noses, and the way he reshaped yours is absolutely flawless.
I had no idea you were dealing with cartilage issues! So, since you had leftover tissue from the hump removal, he was able to repurpose it. I don't have any excess on the bridge, and honestly, taking tissue from behind the ear sounds absolutely horrific to me—I wouldn't even consider it... 😢

But if he could just use the remnants from the bridge, then fine. I had convinced myself that this whole process was incredibly complicated... but clearly, your new nose is living proof that it's possible.
That’s just one more point in Tončić’s favor... lol
I'm going to schedule consultations with both him and Davor Džepina, and then I'll just see which one feels like the better fit for me.
Carol Reed64 said:Sunfloower, have you happened to see anyone else undergo a similar procedure? To be honest, this whole idea of cartilage grafting sounds a bit suspicious to me. I can't help but wonder if there might be some kind of abnormal tissue growth at that junction or something... even though Zambelli made it sound quite plausible! Would you be willing to send over a photo of your nasal bridge? If you do, I'll send mine too, so we can compare and see if we’re dealing with the exact same issue. Maybe then we can actually figure out the best way forward together?

I haven't come across anyone who specifically went in just to operate on their nasal bridge. Personally, I think I need a full rhinoplasty—you know, a complete reshaping—but my main issue is that my tip is extremely prominent and points downward. Whenever I laugh or talk, the nostrils flare significantly, and I can clearly see that I lack the cartilage structure most people have (I read somewhere that in cases like mine, they might have to excise the muscle underneath the nose??). From a profile view, it looks pointed, but I can definitely see room for improvement. Still, that stubborn tip is what really bothers me.

Haha, I don't have my phone on me right now to snap a quick pic of just my nose, but if you want, I can send you some actual photos later. If you're interested, shoot me a private message. 🙂

And frankly, this cartilage grafting idea doesn't appeal to me one bit. Of course, I will weigh all my options carefully, but my gut feeling right now is that it sounds questionable. What happens if the graft doesn't take or if complications arise? It just sounds far too risky to me.
Emily Martinez12 said:what do you mean by that? clearly I don't have a clue either 🤷

one more question for everyone—how long did it actually take you to finish all your research before deciding on surgery? and I mean if you weren't heading to one of those high-end private clinics where everything is wrapped up in a few days, but rather following the standard route through a public hospital...

So, look, regarding what Carol Reed64 wrote: they can either shorten the septum or augment it with cartilage (though that second part doesn't sound particularly reassuring to me, for some reason). From what I’ve gathered after combing through this forum and doing my own digging, it seems like shaping the nasal bridge is the most difficult part. It isn't necessarily an issue if they end up slightly smaller, but if the bridge itself is the main struggle, then doctors aren't exactly making many big promises. Or so I think...
Kimberly Baker13 said:Which Davor Džepina are you talking about?

I mean Davor Džepina. All I’ve ever seen of him is some guy's nose in a photo, and honestly, I was into it—but all I hear from people is glowing praise. If I recall correctly, Kate Taylor59 went to see him too, and I really admire how he handles his patients.
His expertise in anesthesia is another huge plus in my book.

Now, Tončić's work on noses is absolutely stunning, but I have to admit, the idea of anesthesia makes me a little nervous. And since my tips are a major concern for me, their technique there will probably be the deciding factor. I truly had no clue there were so many different approaches available, or that it could be such a massive hurdle.
Carol Reed64 said:Hey, sweetie... has anyone here actually had their nasal sidewalls addressed during surgery? I know that when people get a rhinoplasty to shrink the nose, the sidewalls change too, but mine are a very specific issue. It feels like there’s cartilage missing from the sides, which makes my septum look longer than the sidewalls themselves. The septum isn't even the main problem—it's just that the lack of side cartilage makes the whole nose look massive, making the long sidewalls way too obvious. I’m wondering if anyone else has dealt with something similar. I already saw Žgaljardić, and he suggested shortening the septum and reducing the overall size, but I'm terrified I'll end up looking like a pig. Then Zambelli mentioned he could augment the side cartilage by using material harvested from the septum, which honestly sounds a bit hard to believe. So, now I’m off to see Glumičić to see what his take is!

😲 Is dealing with the nasal sidewalls really this complicated??
It's the exact same situation for me; I'm missing that cartilage, so my sidewalls are incredibly long and prominent.
Sigh, as if the shape of the nose itself wasn't enough of a disaster already...

Looking at the photos the girls posted, my top picks would be Tončić and Džepina, though obviously, I still need to go in for consultations to find out for sure. I never even dreamed that the sidewalls would turn out to be my biggest headache.
Kate Taylor59 said:Yeah... it's basically just like going to the dentist! And dentists do all sorts of things... they even operate on your jaw and make incisions...
I'm getting up early tomorrow... my surgery is scheduled for 9 AM... wish me luck! I'll check back in later, assuming I don't end up throwing myself off my balcony from the sheer misery of it all LOL

Good luck!!! Fingers crossed everything goes perfectly and you're absolutely thrilled with the results! 😉 👍
White Window, please, I'm right there with you... 🙂

Carol Diaz31, let me just offer you another public congratulations on that gorgeous nose of yours. Honestly, I think Tony is going to see a massive surge in interested patients after seeing your photos, even if he does use that local anesthesia of his... 🙂
I'm putting my name in the hat for a photo, if that's still an option... 🙂
And I'm putting my hand up to request a photo! 🙂
Linda Wilson82 said:Listen, everyone, after spending two full days scouring the forums, digging through various websites, and analyzing every single photo I could find, the decision is finally made: I’m going with Dr. Glusac. I went in for a consultation, and while I have to admit he talks about himself just a little too much, I truly believe he’s the right choice. There is something about him that instills a genuine sense of confidence, and he seems incredibly down-to-earth. To be honest, I am stuck with this oooooogrooooooman hooked nose, and I am beyond ready to finally get rid of it. I’ll be calling him tomorrow to get everything scheduled. I'll keep you all posted on how the booking goes...😁

Hey, Linda Wilson82, could you please give me a bit more detail regarding those consultations with Dr. Glusac? Did he actually offer any specific suggestions on how to proceed, or did you have to step up and tell him exactly what you were looking for? Also, did he show you any clinical images or scans beyond the ones already posted on his website?
For me, it all comes down to one thing: does the doctor actually inspire confidence? I need to feel like I'm in capable hands. But honestly, there’s nothing that turns me off faster than someone who can't stop talking about how great they are. Excessive self-promotion is such a massive red flag, don't you think?
rustygardener172 said:I sent you those photos, so take a look and tell me if he should have touched the tip or not.
It’s simply not true that he won't touch the tip. In my case, he didn't touch it because he didn't feel it was necessary, and I didn't ask him to.
He respected everything I wanted, but I just didn't have many specific demands. 😁
And regarding those cases where people say their noses look too big after surgery... well, everyone has different tastes. Someone probably wanted that specific look, and to them, it looks great. He isn't going to give you a nose you don't want...

Your nose is absolutely gorgeous!! 🙂 Honestly, it wasn't even big before the surgery; from the profile view, it looked beautiful, and the tip is perfect now, too. Regardless, you fall into that category of patients for whom he did an incredible job. My situation is completely different... from the side, it's flat, large, and pointed (🙄), while from the front, the tip looks big and bulbous. It's a total disaster...

I want a "normal" nose so badly that I'm actually terrified I might overreach with my requests and end up with something that doesn't suit my face at all. But I suppose Dr. Glusac keeps those things in mind...

I don't know about the rest of you, but whenever I Google "perfect noses," I only see those surgically flawless models, and it makes me worry that my expectations are totally skewed. As crazy as it sounds, my biggest fear is making a mistake myself. 🙄
silentpanther32 said:I wasn't actually there for the surgery myself, but I did email Dr. Glusac some photos of my nose... he told me right away that the tip needs narrowing. Now, whether his opinion changes once I actually show up in person for a consultation remains to be seen—I'll keep you all posted. 🙂

Oh, please do let us know! 😁
As for me, I’m planning to head in either this summer or by the end of the year, but make no mistake—I am getting this surgery. I just want a nose that looks normal. 😛
Ladies, when you go in for your consultations... is it considered standard practice to bring along a few photos of different noses to show the doctor what you're aiming for, or would that be totally unprofessional?
I really want to get at least a rough idea of what's possible. I want a nose that actually suits my face, and I'm hoping the doctor might even tell me upfront if my expectations are totally unrealistic.
Angela Morales69 said:I feel like my nose has actually grown quite a bit over the last few years—has this happened to anyone else?

This is exactly what happened to me, which is why I finally decided to pull the trigger and go through with surgery! 😠
They say your nose never actually stops growing; it’s just that for most people, it isn't nearly as noticeable. But now, I’m starting to seriously wonder what I’ll look like in ten or twenty years... I mean, it has always been on the larger side, but over the last five years, the growth has become impossible to ignore.
