So, the fourth graders have the school all to themselves this week, and since I’m stuck with three first-grade classes this year instead of the graduating seniors, my schedule is wide open. My boss actually cleared my calendar for Monday and Tuesday next week too because they'll be back with the little ones, and when you factor that in with last Friday—which was a non-working day thanks to the third graders—plus the weekend, I've somehow managed to score twelve straight days off. 🙏 🤣 And apparently, this cycle of downtime is going to keep repeating every month until the end of the year. 🤣
What else am I supposed to do with myself besides just messing around and wasting time? 😛

Hey there! It’s actually a decent day today—not too sweltering, but not freezing either.

Nick Cannon and Shane MacGowan (who was absolutely wasted) 🙂 😁

Heading off to work now, though I might post something later once I've recovered from the Talking Heads; I've got my headphones on just to give me enough energy to climb the stairs to the top of the world 🙄

Anyway, I have tomorrow off! 🎉

Even after an exhausting day at the office, I still find myself needing a little physical activity ☕
It’s all about staying in shape, I suppose. Personally, I make it a point to trek up those incredibly steep stairs toward the local high school in the middle of the afternoon heat, even though I could easily just hop on a bus for two stops and call it a day.

So, my old man has always been a pretty difficult guy to deal with, and growing up in a house with three women, being the youngest meant I was constantly at odds with him—just picking fights, acting out, and causing trouble. I was a nightmare in school too, getting warnings about expulsion and all that, while my mother spent half her time covering my tracks from everyone else, so honestly, it’s hardly any surprise that I ended up working in education today. 🤦 😁
Anyway, back in seventh grade, I was absolutely obsessed with U2, and one day, out of nowhere, my dad showed up with this VHS of Rattle and Hum he’d borrowed from a coworker, because God knows how he managed to figure out

Yeah! 😁 It's awesome! Thanks! 🙂

Absolutely, we'll keep this outdoor camp going as long as the weather holds up.
Honestly, I am more than satisfied with how everything turned out.
Even though it’s my day off, I couldn't help myself from hiking up to the site to make sure everything was running smoothly and see if anyone needed anything; we grabbed lunch together, then sat outside while the kids hung out on the benches or the swings and V. taught math. 🙏 It's perfect! 😁

Jamie Davis9, hang in there! I feel for the kids, and honestly, the communication breakdown is becoming a massive headache. I can't even begin to wrap my head around how this is going to work for high schools, let alone elementary schools or preschools, where parents need to pick up their little ones after class but aren't allowed inside—they supposedly have to wait outside on the sidewalk. I think I read somewhere that they're still enforcing that protocol. Even at the university level, young adults will probably manage better, and maybe this will finally force some much-needed organization for certain courses (from lectures to exams), since so much of it can be handled online far more efficiently. Not all universities have been as accommodating to students as, say, NYU or similar places.

The first day went fine; we stayed out front instead of heading inside. My boss mentioned we’re welcome to stay outside whenever we want, sitting on a bench or just in the grass while teaching. 🙏 😁
Look, we'll find a way, give it our best shot, and hope for the best.

Lisa Davis46 said: I'm sorry, I've been a total wreck since yesterday morning because I was finally supposed to escape everything—work, stress, all of it—for a two or three-week getaway to Nantucket. But now, everything is up in the air. That's not even the main issue; I might just head further north alone just to get away. This mess happened because a friend I was supposed to stay with in her cottage had, without knowing it, close contact with two people who tested positive (they only found out yesterday). That couple already knew they'd been around someone infected, but they didn't say anything and still went to her place to hang out and swim for a few days, even though my friend has a small child... she's still stuck there waiting to hear tomorrow if she needs to go get tested in Boston or New York, or if she just has to quarantine for two weeks. Honestly, I think the biggest problem is that people just don't act responsibly; most people only care about their own skin. It feels like everyone has gotten too relaxed while the numbers continue to climb. And don't even get me started on the discarded masks and gloves scattered all over the city, because it just makes me angry.

I know, it's a disaster. People being people.
But the real issue, as I mentioned earlier, is that even when you try your absolute hardest to do everything by the book, you often end up feeling like you haven't achieved much at all.
On top of that, people are losing jobs and some are even losing their homes; the situation looks grim, so it's easy to lose your cool and run out of patience.
Don't let yourself get worked up over things that are completely out of your control! 🧐

Classes start tomorrow and I can’t say I’m feeling particularly optimistic about any of it.
Basically, schools are being forced to operate under absolutely impossible conditions; my school manages to scrape by because our class sizes are smaller due to our specific needs, which helps us meet some of the standards, but even then, it's a struggle. Teachers are expected to wear masks constantly—if not full-on hazmat suits—which puts my school in a terrible spot since many of our students are deaf and rely on lip-reading to communicate.
On top of that, kids are expected to sit there wearing masks for hours on end.
And if a teacher dares to let a student take their mask off, they're expected to just send them home immediately, which creates another mess for my school because several of our students aren't independent enough to navigate getting home on their own.
The ones who are independent will be squeezed into overcrowded city buses just to get to school, and they'll be fighting through those same packed buses just to get back.

Of course, the government is supposedly deeply concerned about the well-being of children and the elderly, because we all know how much the state actually cares about looking after people.

That’s why the government feels the need to stir the pot here and there, which inevitably gives the mob an excuse to gear up and organize some massive, pointless protest.😁

Good grief, what a mess.
What on earth is your deal? What’s your name, anyway, and where exactly do you even hang out?
So, what neighborhood are you from—are you living downtown like me? Let me guess your zodiac sign... Aquarius, right? You seem like a total wildcard. ☕ 😁

Lisa Davis46 said:I’ve always had a soft spot for Virgos and Aquarians. To be honest, I feel like I’ve crossed paths with them more than any other signs in my life.

Hey there.

By the way, I’ve had this one friend by my side since our elementary school days, and even though we couldn't be more different if we tried, we somehow always manage to understand exactly what the other is thinking. 😍

Hey life, everything’s gone to hell.

Yeah, even that guy from the link tried to correct my take on it, but he was clearly fighting a losing battle against the musicians. 🙄 😁

By all accounts, it's Libra... and I don't just mean during the last decade of the sign, but literally the final day!!! Of course, right before Scorpio hits.
Still, I'm leaning toward the first option. What about you guys?

The only time I ever bothered looking for astrological advice—mostly because Scorpio is clogging up every single damn house in my chart, including my rising sign—was when it told me that in the tenth house, it’s basically just me and Hitler. 👎

Alright, I’m still out here living it.

So, picture this scene: a seventeen-year-old Jamie Davis9 walks into this local dive bar with her friends—you know the type, pool tables everywhere and great music playing while a bunch of older guys are focused on their games.
Suddenly, this song starts playing. Feeling absolutely invincible and like she owns the entire universe, Jamie Davis9 just casually reaches for the first billiard ball within reach, sinks it into the pocket with this effortless, "I don't even care" attitude, and coolly strolls over toward the bar. 😎
Everyone just stares in silence, while her friends are losing it, giggling and telling her how incredibly cool she thinks she is. 😬 🤣

Every time I hear Brown Eyed Girl, it hits me right in the gut; man, those were the days. 🙂 😁

🙂 Yeah, I actually love what I do. Especially dealing with my high schoolers, who tend to be a bit too much of their own people to fit into the standard public school system. <3 :-))

p.s. I am having a blast! The weather is absolutely perfect right now.

btw., yesterday the legendary big man celebrated his 75th birthday, so in honor of him, here is our absolute favorite song. 🙂 😁
