To be honest, she wasn't even my favorite in Buffy, I actually had a huge crush on her in I Know What You Did Last Summer—she played that classic Miss Teen USA victim type perfectly. Then she moved into Cruel Intentions, where she was the ultimate bitch. Those were just the quintessential teen hits of the 90s, and if you ask me, that was really the peak of her career.
It’s alright, I guess. There was a time when she meant everything to me, but today? It’s just okay. Honestly, I’m still expecting a little more from her.
I had such a blast watching this; it really gave me a good laugh. Ginnifer Goodwin is just absolutely precious. Overall, it’s a really enjoyable film, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out.
Dakota Fanning is truly incredible—I’m honestly speechless. Every single role she takes on is executed phenomenally. I have no idea what her career trajectory will look like from here, but I truly believe she’s something special. We aren't just talking about some fleeting pop culture phenomenon; we’re talking about genuine, high-caliber acting talent. We've seen child stars come and go before, but she stands apart.
That being said, even though I enjoy this discussion, I’d actually love to see the thread title corrected because it feels a bit off to me. To my mind, "child movie stars" should refer to actors who specifically belong to the world of children's cinema—essentially, stars of movies made for kids. That was my initial thought when I first clicked on the topic. However, it's clear now that we are actually discussing child actors who have become major cinematic stars—young talents who are icons to everyone, not just to children. NHF Cheers 😁
Man, it’s been ages since I sat down to watch this one, but I remember it being such a standout. The acting was top-tier and the story really hooks you. Dakota Fanning was such a powerhouse even back then, and Denzel Washington absolutely nailed his role. I also vividly remember how incredible the soundtrack was.
I’ve been reading through some of your comments, and I have to say, I’m a little lost as to what we're actually debating here. It feels like some of you are talking as if you deal with organized crime and kidnappings for a living. I'm assuming you're picturing something like the chaos along the US-Mexico border or similar high-stakes environments, trying to propose these supposedly "logical" scenarios for how things would go down. But honestly, maybe that’s exactly why movies like this get made—they don't always follow a perfectly "logical" sequence because life doesn't always work that way, especially when you're dealing with real-life events (though I can't say for sure). Cheers 😁
Yeah, just like any other flick. A good movie is a good movie, regardless of its genre or category.😉 There are some truly wild characters in there, which actually appealed to me right from the jump, even though I feel like there have already been plenty of soap opera parodies out there—but you can never have enough irony, which is the backbone of high-quality humor. To me, a true parody is one that makes you stop and think, "Wait, are they actually being serious right now???" 😬
I’m largely in agreement regarding PhD students, but we shouldn't view them as a profession in their own right—there are countless successful careers out there that don't require a doctorate.
In my honest opinion, while the list might be technically accurate, it doesn't carry much weight. It just doesn't provide any real value when you look at it closely. It’s essentially unhelpful to try and draw a direct comparison between one single Physics PhD student and one out of a thousand Psychology PhD students.
Well, it looks like the whole IQ debate is a rabbit hole that never ends. In my honest opinion, I don't think we can really hold all career paths to the same standard as PhD candidates. Plus, there’s the obvious issue that these data sets aren't even truly comparable, because what they're presenting as a "silver bullet" is actually just a numbers game regarding the volume of applicants. It feels like they're just playing fast and loose with statistics; if you apply even a tiny bit of common sense, the logic falls apart.
But hey, I'm sure it's "factually correct" according to their metrics. At the end of the day, does it even matter? Cheers😉
So, I’ve shared my thoughts on this movie before, but I’ll say it again: I think it’s actually quite cool. It really nails those pop-art vibes, and I’d argue they captured the essence of Edie through Sienna perfectly. The resemblance isn't about looking like carbon copies of one another; it’s more about capturing their specific energy and style.
Look, it’s hard to label this as a "masterpiece" or claim the acting is groundbreaking, but please don't misunderstand me—I’m not knocking them. The actors clearly put in the work to embody these legendary artists. It’s a fascinating little piece with enough documentary elements to make the whole pop-art era feel alive. If you’re into arthouse cinema, you’ll dig it. I’m mostly talking about the aesthetic—the fashion and those originally commercial, high-concept ideas. Essentially, the keywords are: posh, artsy, superstar, fame, wealthy, glossy, snobby, queer, fashion-forward, frilly, ritzy... pretentious, indie, unique, quirky, eccentric... you get the gist of that vibe.
If that’s your scene, go for it. The visuals and the flair are genuinely great. But maybe we should have a conversation about all these fancy descriptors; after all, it’s perfectly fine to indulge in a "gallery movie" once in a while.😬
p.s. Sienna is lovely😍(at least in certain scenes).
ruggedgardener1 said:Could someone please put together a complete list of all the songs featured in that movie? I’ve always been curious about one specific thing: what exactly is the name of that song everyone plays during those first, second, and third times? You know, that quintessential track that seems to set the mood for every milestone? I'd love to know who the artist is. 😉 Thanks!😁
Come on, you can easily just look up that part number online. It’s right there if you know where to search.😁 Honestly, that’s such a ridiculous question. If you're looking for a solid recommendation, I’d honestly point you toward IMDb. It’s my go-to whenever I need to settle a debate or find something new to watch. I’m still thinking about that soundtrack. It really hit differently than I expected—kind of like how a perfectly composed jazz piece can completely shift the mood of a rainy afternoon in Seattle. You know that feeling when the music doesn't just play in the background, but actually starts driving the emotional pulse of what you're watching? That was exactly this. It wasn't just noise; it was the heartbeat of the whole experience.
Ronald Morales51 said:Mr. Brooks is just top-tier mediocrity—meaningless, poorly defined, and frankly pathetic acting from supposedly "great" actors, paired with plot twists that are as predictable as they are uninspired. In short, it’s boring. 👎
I’ve said this before and I still stand by it. When you really sit down and think about it—looking at when Kevin Costner or Demi Moore actually delivered something solid—I’ve always had a soft spot for Costner. He used to carry such charming Films like Message in a Bottle or The Postman, but this just shows how far he's fallen; it's amazing how a bad Film can completely derail a decent actor. As for Demi, she was great in Ghost and A Few Good Men, so she isn't exactly terrible, but what this specific Film is offering is just lame through and through. It's pointless. I watch plenty of bad movies, but this one is in a league of its own—it is uniquely, impossibly bad. Such a shame, but a total miss.
Putting LIT or, for heaven's sake, ESOTSM at the very top of this list is just absurd, and it tells me everything I need to know about how relevant and valid this whole thing actually is. Especially ESOTSM—I mean, that film is absolute perfection, but as I've said more than a few times now, art isn't meant for everyone; you have to truly love it and understand it.😉
Besides, if I don't like a movie, I simply don't watch it. Or, as soon as I realize something is off, I just turn it off. Nothing specific comes to mind right this second, but there are countless titles I just skip over. That's really all there is to it.😬 I usually bail after about ten minutes; why bother struggling through it? Take something like: Know Who Killed Me Or I won't even give it a chance to begin with, like: Planet Terror 😬
I’ve got that same feeling—this movie looks incredible, and I honestly can't wait to catch it. I definitely agree that Hayden Christensen is a fantastic actor. As for the female lead, if you're talking about Rachel, I find her totally captivating, though I'm curious to see how she carries herself in this specific role. She’s charming, though I assume you weren't referring to Diane Lane, since she plays his mother. Personally, I think Rachel is a perfect choice; they feel like they belong in the same age group. Besides, our dear Denise Richards is actually ten years older than the lead actor, which wouldn't quite hit the mark for us. It would be better to go with some newer actresses 😉, even if Denise was absolutely unforgettable in Wild Things and stuff like that.😬
All in all, I am just really looking forward to seeing this film.
Alright, switching gears here; Damien Rice is a completely different beast compared to Elliott Smith. Those lyrical snippets we discussed are just one song, and their overall themes along with their performance styles, are worlds apart. Smith leans much more into that indie rock vibe—and he’s got incredible tracks, obviously—but his sound is driven by the guitar, which feels very much like classic American indie, whereas Damien definitely carries that Irish folk influence. Ultimately, I dig both of them, but I wouldn't try to compare them.
And here’s the big reason I actually started posting: I’m hungry for new music. Or better yet, live shows. There is just nothing like experiencing music live, but unfortunately, Damien rarely tours, and we lost Elliott five years ago.
That’s why I’m waiting on you, Ronald Morales51. I’m looking for new albums and new concerts; indie piano rock is my heartbeat.😁
Some people might not care, but honestly, I really do. And if we’re being real, there is so much to dive into when it comes to indie and contemporary music 😁 Let's keep this going.
It’s been ages—he hasn't dropped a full album since 2006, and man, I am really craving his last one was absolutely stellar. If you look at my username, you can probably tell I have a massive soft spot for this kind of music.😉 One of his absolute best tracks has to be I Remember I Delicate, though from his most recent record, I'd say Grey Room and 9 Crimes are the standouts (even if he released those a while back). I'm not entirely sure what his roadmap looks like right now, but he's been performing a bit more and making appearances lately. I'm just sitting here waiting and hoping for some fresh music.😁
Alright, first loss in the books—no big deal. Honestly, we’re big fans of the Danish team anyway;
But hey, what did I say earlier today? I said our only real goal was to take down Norway this Thursday; Well, now it seems like we're all dreaming the same dream If they pull off the win, you'll find me in the finals waving a flag for the forum crew Lillehammer here I come 😁
Chris Lopez59 said:It would be pure madness to overextend ourselves right now. There’s really no point in burning all our energy before the semifinals. We need to stay composed, save our strength, and then absolutely crush them if we happen to run into them in the finals—or even if we end up fighting for third place, if that's how the luck falls. 😉 There’s an old American proverb that really hits the nail on the head: "He who laughs last, laughs best." It’s a classic reminder that timing is everything, and you shouldn't get too ahead of yourself just because things look good in the moment. Sometimes, the final outcome is what truly matters. 😉
It doesn't really matter when we finally get them; the only thing that matters is that we actually pull it off.😁 I have to say, I'm completely on the same page as you there. You hit the nail right on the head.
