stormyharbor2 said:If you already mentioned him in the post, why bother saying "we all know who we're talking about"?😬 I honestly thought you were referring to some other doctor since you've had multiple procedures done. My bad.

So, you're talking about Malibu? That's practically in my backyard, but 🤷 Honestly, I just don't trust the so-called "pros" out of Miami or the surrounding areas. Has anyone here dealt with a major, totally botched broken nose? Like, one where the bone is crooked and almost poking through the skin?😳 That’s the kind of nightmare surgery I’m looking into, so if anyone has successfully fixed something that intense, please reach out and let me know how it went.

My nose was pretty much in the same boat as yours, just without being quite that huge... Dr. Glušac used to work at Jackson Memorial Hospital, then over at the Mayo Clinic, even spent time in the USA... now he has his own private practice in Malibu. The guy is a walking encyclopedia of medical knowledge. He doesn't need flashy ads or those high-profile 🙂 celebrity surgeries (you know, the whole Ava Karabatić scene)... to keep his schedule full. People fly in from all over the globe because word-of-mouth says his work is top-tier and legit, not because they saw him on some commercial... he couldn't care less about that stuff. Speaking from my own experience, he is genuinely someone you can put your faith in. It won't cost you anything just to go in for a consultation and see for yourself...
Aaron Perez14...man, I know exactly how you feel! I am signing my name to everything you just said 😁
I am seriously so happy that you're thrilled with the results!! I actually had my surgery just 7 days ago... I’ve still got some medical tape on my nose, but even through the bandages, you can tell the new profile is absolutely gorgeous! I’m heading back to see him this Sunday for a follow-up. Honestly, the best part is being able to coordinate everything directly with him—it's not like those other doctors where the nurse basically acts like their personal secretary 😁 And it is such a relief that he stays so hands-on with your recovery... like, actually having you come back in for cleanings? That's top-tier. I am just obsessed with his whole vibe and the entire team he runs! 👍

That said, I’m not going to go around telling everyone they *have* to go strictly to him... people are different, right? Everyone has different tastes and different things that work for them. Personally, I think it’s smart to sit down for consultations with at least two or three different doctors before you pull the trigger on surgery. ------> Still... if you ask me, it would be pretty damn wise for anyone to have Dr. Glušac as one of those 2-3 options 🧐 without fail! 😁
Kimberly Baker13 said:I’ve actually seen a few noses from his studio that were pretty botched... I'm glad you're happy with yours, though.:👍

I went in for my follow-up this morning... and honestly, my nose looks incredible! I am beyond thrilled with the result!
It's funny, this is the first time I've heard anyone say they weren't... but hey, I guess everyone's got their own thing. Tastes differ, right? For me, I chose him specifically because of all the glowing recommendations from dear friends who reached out to me via 🙂 PM... everything I've heard or experienced so far has been nothing but top-tier.
loneotter72 said:Oh, really? I guess I just keep stumbling onto the wrong corners of the internet because I’ve already read way too much garbage lately 😢 so I was genuinely curious about what he was actually like... anyway, thanks for the heads up!

Honestly, it doesn't sound half bad... there's actually a decent amount of good stuff written about him. He was my top pick at first, but then life happened and a bunch of random circumstances just pushed him off my radar.
loneotter72 said:Does anyone actually have experience with Tony Stark? Please, I need some answers here! 😕

Man, there are tons of stories about Tony Stark floating around... just scour this forum and you'll find them. 😛
Just wanted to check in and give a quick update... today is my first day post-op. The swelling and bruising finally kicked in today, but honestly? The pain isn't even a factor. I feel pretty great, even if I look like a total mess right now 😁
The surgery itself was a massive success! At least, that’s what the docs told me... everything functioned perfectly, which means the aesthetics are looking solid too—my nose is totally straight now. I actually got to see my nose this morning right after they pulled the tampons out but before they put the splint on... and oh my god, it looks stunning!! Even with all this swelling, I am absolutely loving it!!!!!! My mom was there with me through the whole thing, and she is completely obsessed! The entire medical team down in Santa Monica was incredible... I can't even pick just one person to single out because they were all so good. I was freaking out before the procedure—just pure, massive anxiety—but those four (the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, the nurse, and the tech) totally chilled me out and kept me laughing... seriously, nothing but praise for them! They are absolute gems!
If anyone else has questions about the process, feel free to ask anything...
Finally, my day has arrived. 😁 I’ve got surgery scheduled for this afternoon... everyone, please keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll hit you guys up once I'm back on my feet to let you know how everything went. 😁
I am freaking losing my mind here... just totally on edge. 🙂
ironsurfer10 said:rustygardener172, what kind of price did he actually give you? If I’m not happy with how the surgery turns out, my backup plan is either Tony Stark or Dr. Glück—though I'd probably go with Tony first since he's right here in NYC.

Believe it or not... I didn't even bother asking him what it costs. 🙂 I know he usually runs about 10,000 to 11,000 $0.00, which makes him cheaper than most of the other guys... so, if I was already mentally prepared to drop 15k on Tony Stark $0.00... I'll definitely have enough left over for Dr. Glück 😉.

@Papa Strumpf... honestly, I have zero clue about how things work in other countries.
Noah Johnson63 said:Anyone know what a private septoplasty runs me?

Honestly, you could've scrolled up through the last two or three pages... I literally just answered a question exactly like this one. You're looking at anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000... it really just depends on which surgeon you pick and how messy the procedure is going to be.
Anonymous said:Hey, I’ve got a question for you guys. I’m looking to get my deviated septum fixed, but while I'm under the knife, I want to go all out on the aesthetic side of things too. I’m not talking about some minor tweak—I want a noticeable transformation, something that actually makes my nose look good, you know? Not just a "while I'm at it" fix. Does anyone have a recommendation for a top-tier surgeon in Los Angeles who really knows their stuff when it comes to both functional and cosmetic work? If anyone knows a pro, please!

If you’re talking about some big state hospital, I honestly haven't a clue. But if you're looking at private practice? Man, you've got to see Dr. Glück over in Santa Monica. I actually have an appointment booked with him in eight days. 😁
ironsurfer10 said:So, I’m stuck in the hospital right now—had surgery yesterday. Everything went fine, at least according to the docs. But honestly, this constant bleeding is starting to freak me out because it seems to be getting worse. My nurse keeps coming in to swap out my gauze, but even after she folds it up tight, it's soaked through again in like thirty minutes. Has anyone else dealt with this crap?

Hey, don't sweat it too much... it happens. When I was going through this, the nurse eventually just handed me a stack of gauze and told me to change it myself whenever needed since she couldn't keep up with me. It’ll settle down soon enough.
Carol Hernandez94 said:rustygardener172, how did the checkup go??

The exam went freaking awesome! Surgery is officially a go! 🙂 I’m heading back to see Dr. Glück... either on the 24th in the Afternoon or the 25th in the morning (later this month)... we’re gonna touch base again on Monday to hammer out all the specifics. Honestly, I can't wait! 🙂
Carol Hernandez94 said:Look, don't sweat it too much... you'll bounce back. You're young, you're healthy, and honestly? You've got plenty of time to get your act together.
I'm gonna be totally real with you—I was freaking out about this too. My heart was absolutely racing, thinking everything was about to go south... but look at us now. Everything turned out just fine.🙂
I gotta say, though, the crew working with Dr. Glück is actually top-tier. You’ve got this anesthesiologist who’s basically a legend—he’s also a professor over at the cardiology department, so the guy has seen just about everything. Seriously, his level of experience is insane. The surgical tech is killer, too, and the nurse is fantastic (turns out she's actually his wife, which is kind of wild). Honestly, the whole squad is just solid. It's rare to find a team that clicks like this.👍
And now we just wait and see how this whole thing goes south. Honestly, I’m just crossing my fingers that we don't end up with a total clusterfuck on our hands—because, let's be real, that’s usually exactly how these things play out.
So, the nose is officially back in business! I can actually smell things again, and honestly, breathing feels pretty damn good right now. As for what the final look is going to be? Well, that’s anyone's guess. We'll just have to wait and see how this whole thing settles.

Man, I am seriously stoked to hear that everything went smoothly for you! Honestly, hearing good news like that makes my day. 🎉 So, I’ve got my checkup this Saturday. If everything looks good and the doctors give me the green light, I’ll probably be heading in for surgery pretty much right after. Fingers crossed, right? 😁 I am seriously losing my mind here—the impatience is hitting me like a freight train. I honestly can't sit still anymore. 🙂
Honestly, it’s not even that weird or some freak occurrence... it usually happens because the doctor uses a specific type of packing, like those gauze rolls shaped like tampons. Some docs use these sponge-like things that you can't just unroll easily. At the end of the day, every surgeon does things differently. It's like how one doctor tells you to leave a tampon in for four days, while another pulls it out after two for the exact same procedure. Look, we're talking about actual surgery here, not some routine blood draw at a clinic in Chicago... there are always risks involved and anything can happen. Personally? I’m way more terrified of never waking up from the anesthesia than I am of being wide awake and having to pull gauze out of my own throat...😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱 😱
stormyharbor2 said:So, what's the deal with needing a second surgery?

Look, I had to go under the knife the first time to fix a deviated septum because I could barely catch my breath. Honestly, I have zero clue what those surgeons actually did back then, but guess what? I still can't breathe right—maybe a tiny bit better than before, if I'm being generous—but on top of that, my nose ended up crooked toward the left and my nasal passages are totally blocked... so, yeah... round two is happening. But this time, I'm going to a private clinic... at least there, they actually bother to talk to you.
Honestly, I didn't feel a single thing after my first surgery... they had packing in my nose for four whole days... breathing through your mouth isn't even that bad, you really have nothing to worry about. It’s just a reflex, kind of like when you've got a nasty head cold and your nose is totally stuffed up. The only thing that drove me absolutely insane was how my mouth kept sticking together (you know how gross it gets when your saliva dries out 🙂), so I ended up brushing my teeth constantly just because that feeling was so slimy 🙂

Anyway... I finally managed to book a consultation with Dr. Glück. So, next step is a trip down to Santa Monica 🙂 I'm really hoping this goes smoother than it did with Dr. Tony Stark. My first impression of Dr. Glück during our call was actually great... it’s such a relief that he’s the one reaching out personally instead of some nurse, and he was incredibly easy to work with regarding scheduling... he talked to me like we’d been friends for years ☕, none of that cold, stiff doctor-patient formality. Fingers crossed for me! I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Anthony Kern43 said:Before you go under, slide me your number and a photo via DM 🙂 once the surgery is over and they pull those tampons out—and once you're dealing with the splint (seriously, stop touching it!)—let's grab coffee so I can show you what I looked like rocking mine 😁 ...haha... Before the surgery:

- Try lying down a few times while plugging your nose just to get a feel for how it's going to be once they pack you with tampons. You don't want to be caught off guard and start panicking and breathing through your mouth like crazy (some lady next to me totally lost her mind doing exactly that),
- Pray to whatever God you believe in for a solid anesthesiologist.
- Speak up and tell the staff everything you need to say, because you never know when you’ll actually get the chance to talk to them again.

After the surgery:
- Just rest, take your painkillers, and maybe grab some sleep aids if you need them.
- Keep a massive stash of juice or water right next to you, because your mouth is going to be bone-dry constantly...
- Once the splint comes off, there's a real chance of skin infections since your pores will be totally clogged. You're gonna be breaking out everywhere, so be ready for a two-week battle against acne until your skin settles back down. There’s plenty of advice on this forum from people who've been through it—I know Effaclar Duo works, but breakouts still pop up here and there, so I might try some retinol or something.
- Don't mess with your nose too much; the bones are literally in the middle of healing. If you feel any lumps under the skin near your nose, don't freak out—that happens while the bone is knitting itself back together and it'll fade away eventually (give it 2-3 months).
- Vitamins, minerals, and whatever else keeps you going.

Those first days with the tampons are brutal, but the splint is nothing... Personally, I didn't even try to shrink or narrow my nose, I just straightened it out because I actually like having a big nose 🙂 It needs to look masculine, not like some little kid's face :P

Straightened it out? Was it crooked or just bumpy before? And which surgeon did you use?
Well, this sucks... honestly, it’s pretty heavy...
I went in for a consultation with Tončić yesterday... The office is gorgeous, the nurse was super sweet, really pleasant vibes overall... I ended up seeing the younger Tončić since the senior guy is still on vacation this week. To be totally honest, I was holding out hope for the older one, but hey, you take what you get. Unfortunately though... I didn't hear what I was hoping to hear. 😢 The second he finished checking my nose, his face just dropped... and he told me that when people come in with a nose like mine, they have to set expectations right from the jump. He said because of how my cartilage is structured, he isn't even sure if the surgery would actually work. They’d do everything humanly possible, obviously, but he couldn't guarantee any kind of result. At the end of it, he basically told me to take my time and decide if I really wanted to risk all that money when there's a chance my nose could just end up back where it started immediately after the procedure. Ugh, I felt like I just sank straight through the floor after that. 🙂 (For anyone who doesn't know... or probably forgot... I need both functional and cosmetic work done because my nose deviates fuuuull to the left... I want it straightened out so it's centered.)
My boyfriend and a friend were there with me, and they kept trying to convince me that doctors probably say that to everyone just to cover their own backs... and that I should go get a second (or third) opinion from someone else... but I don't know, what if they all say the exact same thing? Or worse, what if they tell me exactly what I want to hear and just conveniently "forget" to mention the warnings Tončić gave me out loud? 😱
I mean, props to Tončić for being brutally honest... he could have easily stayed quiet and just pocketed my cash... but still, I can't help feeling bummed that Dr. Rajko wasn't there... he's older, way more experienced... he’s probably seen a case like mine a hundred times by now... Now I'm just sitting here spiraling, wondering what his take would have been...
I spent a massive amount of money on this trip... gas, tolls, the consultation itself... and all I got was a giant headache and more confusion. What an absolute clown I am. :klap:
@ Chris Price... well, looks like I'll be making the trip to see Dr. Glušac after all. 😁
Carol Hernandez94 said:How old are you and your friend anyway?? Look, I get that you don't care right now, but trust me, the fallout from smoking immediately after getting your tonsils out won't hit you today—it'll show up in ten years when you're dealing with throat scarring or who knows what else... That’s why doctors tell you not to touch a cigarette right after surgery, especially if you just stepped out of the operating room. You really ought to wait a few months for the wounds to fully heal up. Maybe it's a little easier with nose stuff, but even then, it's a bad move. If you absolutely have to, just try not to breathe the smoke through your nose...

I'm 28, and my friend is 27... so yeah, we aren't exactly teenagers, if that's what you were thinking. 😁\
And just for the record... I wouldn't call myself some hardcore smoker. I pick up a pack maybe once a week, sometimes I'll have two or three cigarettes, and other days I won't touch one at all. So, I'm pretty sure I won't be dealing with any throat issues, but hey, I can't speak for her...
Chris Price said:So, for all you smokers out there—how long did it take you to crawl back to your old habits, and how much does it actually mess with your recovery? 🙂

Look, I was back at it after just one month... honestly, I feel like an idiot even asking this. 😉
But hey, I've got a second chance now. 😁
As for how bad it is... I genuinely have no clue. You should probably go dig through some medical forums online.
Back when I had my tonsils ripped out, I didn't touch a cigarette for a full month because I was terrified of getting an infection... and man, the pain was absolutely brutal. But then I have this friend who got her tonsils out a month after I did, and she lit up the second she stepped out of the hospital. She said she didn't feel a thing afterward and everything turned out totally fine. 😠
