Monitor buying guide (mega-thread) in Computer Peripherals ·
Olivia Ramirez63 said:Hey there.
I’m pretty much a total tech novice—help me out here.
Using a TV as a monitor... does that actually have pros and cons?
Or would a laptop or a desktop be a better bet overall?

You’ve gotta let us know what you’re planning to do with it...

A TV works if you need a massive screen for multitasking without buying multiple monitors.

As for the laptop vs. desktop debate—it really comes down to mobility. Are you lugging it around, working from bed, or hitting the kitchen table? Or do you have a dedicated desk where you'll be hunkered down for eight-plus hours at a time?

Give us some specifics.🍿

Honey Sun... I still remember when you first started posting and jumping into every single thread about your struggles. Honestly? Just ignore the paired-up folks... that's exactly what I do!

🙂 So, I decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. Naturally, I ended up looking like the villain and they played the victims.

One of them has diabetes—which, honestly, nothing to do with this, but whatever—but she’s pretty. Another one grew up without parents, but hey, she's smart and has a kid.

To this day, I am still scratching my head over why they felt the need to attack me on social media.
Weird.

First things first—look for professional help. A few people on here have already suggested it, and while you keep brushing them off, it really is the only way to handle this properly.

That tendency to push back against everyone and everything is likely what’s causing these situations—where it feels like you're being rejected or attacked when it isn't actually the case. Seriously, please try to find some real support!
Moderators are deleting posts like crazy in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m all for mods staying neutral. Once a moderator jumps into a debate, you basically lose the right to disagree—you can't exactly push back against them without consequences.

Beyond that, the rules don't seem to apply equally to everyone.

For instance, if someone calls you a fascist and you just point out they're being toxic, their post stays up while yours gets flagged or deleted entirely...

Mods will swoop in and hand out penalties without any explanation—no reason given, nothing.

Honestly, people would contribute to way more threads if certain mods didn't shut down any "alternative" viewpoints. At the end of the day, if you want to actually participate here, you end up sticking to a few trivial topics. If you drive away all the high-quality users (and I don't mean myself, but there are some truly great folks here), you'll be left with nothing but trolls.

Discussions get cut short, posts vanish, and you're left with a conversation that makes zero sense.

Here’s another example: in threads specifically marked "NO COMMENTARY," the "commentators" aren't getting their posts removed. If a thread is designated as commentary-free, that's exactly what the mods should be enforcing.

They're missing right where they're needed most, and they're meddling right where they shouldn't be, which just ruins the whole discussion.
Why are you all just rolling over for this...? Back when my grandparents were around, everyone was absolutely disgusted by this kind of thing—yet here you are, their grandkids, following orders without question, just worrying about whether the system will grant you a permit

I’d be a hell of a lot happier if we took every single one of these posts, bundled them into an email, and blasted the government with a mountain of complaints backed by the constitution on violation of rights...

There is no state of emergency here, and there is no suspension of our rights. If they want an emergency, fine—declare it and define the rules PRECISELY, instead of this vague "this and that" approach. I’ve already got my lawsuit ready, and believe me, I am not backing down (I’ve actually won a case once before on a very similar issue).

Here’s a perfect example. A friend of mine has to travel three zones just to get to work, then he has to go to a fourth zone because that’s where his doctor is located, and then he has to head all the way to the other side of town—another two zones away—just to take care of his pets.
And guess what? He didn't get his permit to check on the animals. Now they’re going to starve, or if he doesn't get permission, they might end up dead... all because looking after dogs isn't considered a "priority." We reported it to the animal welfare group, too, but they aren't taking any responsibility either.

Write to the government.... stop stripping away our constitutional rights...
And for those of you thinking we actually need this because of some state of emergency (which hasn't been declared, by the way)...
-Just look at how many people die on the roads every year—by that logic, we should just abolish the entire auto industry and ban cars altogether.
-Look at how many people die from the flu every single year—meaning, we should just ban everything every year.
-Think about the future when stuff like this becomes more common. What exactly are you leaving behind for your kids? A legacy of mindless obedience because you didn't have the guts to defend your own rights?
-Anyone who was supposed to be in isolation should have been sent to hotels (which won't even be open this summer anyway), camps, or dorms to keep them away from homes and healthy people. But hey, it’s much easier to threaten the livelihoods of millions of people just to satisfy a few idiots...

My brother-in-law works for the Police Department, and he loves repeating this mantra like he’s some big shot just because he pays a ton of taxes. 🤦

Look, the joke is that he sees this "transferring nothing into emptiness" happening right on his own paycheck. It says there, right there in black and white—tax is this much, blah blah blah...
It's pretty obvious he isn't thinking much further than that, and honestly, it's not like he’d even bother stressing over it if he did.

On the other hand, us private citizens paying out of our own pockets? We actually give this some thought.
And we just take a massive pile of stuff the public sector handles for granted, acting like it all just magically fell from the sky.

We aren't all that different.
The biggest issue is that politics has successfully pitted us against each other. Now we just spend all our time bickering with one another instead of actually going after the people who are truly responsible.
So, here's the deal: the public sector blames the private sector, the private sector blames the public sector, and everyone's just pointing fingers at veterans and retirees. It’s always the same old story—veterans and seniors getting squeezed by both sides because one side isn't paying enough, the other isn't doing enough, blah blah blah. Same nonsense, different day.
And everyone just stays quiet about these moronic decisions that are collectively screwing with our heads. 🤦

So, here’s the deal for today: how on earth is Čazmatrans going to manage driving police officers, medical staff, and whatever else back and forth between Kutin and D.C.? From one end of town to the other... good luck with that.
Oh, great. Just brilliant. They crammed a whole crowd of people into some ancient, pathetic bus just to get them moving. Typical. 37 miles And I'm coughing one after another...
And then they go and mess with people commuting by bike, on foot, or driving themselves to work between two or three moronic municipalities that are barely a mile apart. 🤦

👍 I agree, which is exactly why I was shouting against these measures—they’re mindless. They apply the same rules to a massive metropolis like New York City as they do to a small town like Zaguz with its 1,500 residents.

And this whole bus transport thing—if it's supposedly better than everyone driving their own cars, then this bus setup isn't any different from the public transit they already canceled, or the plan where they try to squeeze five people into a bus with two feet of space between them. 🤔

Joseph Taylor11 said:There’s a massive difference between being isolated in a tiny little hamlet like Lower Nigdarjev—where you've got one single shop, a post office, and a church to your name—and actually living in a sprawling city that covers hundreds of square miles. It's just not the same thing.

Before we go throwing questions around, maybe we should actually do a little reading first? Just to see if we can find the answer ourselves without bothering anyone.🤔

It’s not even about whether people should have the freedom to go wherever they want and spread whatever they’re carrying. That's not the point.
Read with some actual comprehension.

Honestly, your replies are just nonsense—you’re acting all high and mighty while completely missing how constitutional rights work, whether it's on this thread or anywhere else... either you're a total corporate shill or you genuinely don't get what's happening. If it's the former, I get your stance; if it's the latter, do yourself a favor and educate yourself. Pick up the Constitution—it's a tiny little book, you can finish it in an hour, and you can find it online easily.

Formula 1 👍
When someone in the public sector claims they "pay taxes," it’s honestly a bit ridiculous—you don't actually pay taxes. You receive a salary that has already been taxed via the private sector's contributions. In accounting terms, you're just a transitional line item. Essentially, the public sector shouldn't be paying taxes on its own payroll; there's zero logic in moving the same pool of money around just to watch it circulate.

Look, once the private sector stops contributing (which is exactly what’s happening right now), how long do you think those public sector salaries can actually be sustained? How are you going to pay taxes when there won't even be salaries left to tax?

You’ll be the very last ones to face layoffs in the public sector—the politicians? Not a chance.

So, here's the deal: public sector employees should be the loudest voices fighting to protect the private sector. As the Americans say... "I pay taxes for public services, so you work for me." But around here, it’s an absolute absurdity where the public sector thinks it’s doing the private sector a favor by providing jobs. It’s a holdover from the old regime that the current party just carried over—they let the private guys do all the actual work.🤔
Frank Flores63 said:I honestly believe there are more people in my exact shoes right now—trying to get a permit and then just sitting around waiting (to be specific, I’ve been waiting since yesterday morning; they promised it would be sorted out sometime yesterday, but still nothing) just so we can grab some groceries and head to the doctor. My doctor is in a different city from where I actually live. Between the bank and the grocery store, it's all a massive headache.

And yet, everyone was laughing at me when I said we were sliding backward and that this situation was unsustainable...
Picture this: a technician from Indianapolis starts heading to Gary, then gets an emergency call from someone in Petrinja about a burst pipe—but he can't get into Petrinja because he doesn't have the right permit, so he has to loop all the way back to Indianapolis, only to be told someone in New York City needs him immediately...

Look at Miami or the Cleveland area—on paper, it’s a bunch of distinct cities and counties, yet everything has to be cleared through Cleveland...

And what happens if you have livestock living outside your primary residence?

There are plenty of examples like this.

Even if they had used counties, it might have made sense, but now we're seeing just how pointless these individual cities and municipalities are. It really highlights how much we need to divide the United States into larger regions.

They need to scrap this measure immediately, or at least group things by county—like grouping Istrian and Primorje-Gorski Kotar together, or Miami, Sibenska, and Zadar-based areas, or New York City with Chicago-based and Sisak-based counties, etc.—you see where I'm going...

Why aren't people mass-emailing the government to demand they repeal or fix this nonsense? Most people are just staying home, so this mostly just creates headaches for small business owners and folks who actually have to travel for medical appointments. For instance, people from Senj have to trek through multiple counties and towns just to make it to a check-up in Cleveland. I could go on forever with daily life scenarios that the police simply won't grasp.

In New York City, there are students who haven't moved anywhere because they work for a telecom company on their phones; if the police pull them over within the city, they could end up being chased all the way to Indianapolis.

When someone asks the police about updating their residency status, they just get an email response saying those tasks aren't being handled by the department right now—so how are you supposed to regulate your own legal status?

Just so much pure illogic...
Are all these precautions actually necessary if we've already got 16 people recovered?

They aren't contagious anymore—but then again, they can't catch it either—so 🤔

wiredfalcon2 said:Can some saint please explain the actual logic behind this massive food hoarding? Are stores gonna shut down because of the virus? Or is it just "don't leave the house since you have enough supplies"? Like, what even is that?

Look at Italy—imagine a whole city under lockdown with no way in or out... which means no deliveries.

The issue isn't that food doesn't exist—it's that grocery stores don't keep massive stockpiles sitting on shelves. If you don't buy your essentials and your neighbors do instead, you’re going to be starving in a week and stuck knocking on their doors. It’s not really about the virus itself; it's about potential supply chain disruptions.
We get most of our produce from Spain, pork from Poland, and so on. Even our local manufacturers rely heavily on imports.

Take masks as an example—supply can't keep up, but everyone wants them to feel "safe." Most major mask producers are in China and Japan; right now, China can barely meet its own demand, so they've started buying back masks already sold to other countries, then reselling them to us at a premium.

It's simple supply and demand... when things get scarce, prices skyrocket. People born around 1995 haven't dealt with shortages, so they aren't prepared—but our grandparents lived through it and understand the value of a stockpile. Back when the American Civil War era hit, everyone had flour, sugar, oil, salt, and coffee tucked away. Everyone had reserves. If you look further back—say, during the 1940s—it was crystal clear: whoever holds the food holds the power. Back then, you could practically trade gold for basic goods.

Most nations today celebrate some sort of uprising or revolution—events that, by modern standards, would probably just be labeled as terrorism... honestly, look at our own history with the American Civil War; if we had lost, they would have branded us all as terrorists and executed us for it.

They completely missed the whole point of Mardi Gras—the whole pagan tradition of chasing away evil spirits and signaling the arrival of spring, rebirth, and abundance. Historically, people used it as a way to poke fun at the government without getting arrested. The authorities actually allowed it because it was easier to just identify who the troublemakers were.

Burning a gay couple with a child isn't mocking the government, nor is it driving out bad spirits. They could have used Zoran, Kolinda, or any other politician, which is how it’s actually done. This mess happens when people who don't understand the tradition try to take the lead.

I think in places like Santa Barbara, they just burn the same old "Mardi Gras" figure every year—a totally neutral character that’s been around for a century. That’s because those folks were always too afraid to actually rebel against the establishment (they’ve always been pretty much sycophants). So, they just burn the same poor soul under a different name every hundred years.
