crimsonstag84, look, it’s not exactly a power hog, but it pulls about 60% more than the older 750 and 750Ti series—though you have to account for the fact that it's significantly faster. It actually draws slightly more juice than an R9 270 or 270X depending on which specific model you grab.

As performance climbs, power consumption follows suit, so we can't really label this a "budget efficiency" card the way we did with the GTX 750Ti models. That said, it's quite impressive when you compare it to the power draw of the GTX 760 (Striker Platinum); it isn't much slower, but we aren't thrilled that its power footprint is nearly identical to the GTX 960.

Please provide the exact power supply model as well. If it can handle a GTX 950, then we're good to go.

We might see an even bigger performance gap in upcoming titles, especially since AMD drivers have been showing some real improvement lately. If there’s any silver lining to this heavy rebranding, it’s that they're squeezing every last drop of juice out of an aging architecture. Look at the Hawaii cards as an example: back when they first launched, the GTX 780 was actually the superior card, but now with this rebrand, it doesn't just hold its own against the GTX 780 and the 780Ti—it actually beats the 980 in quite a few scenarios (390X)

Starting today, you can grab this on an installment plan for just five grand.

You could always opt for a more budget-friendly power supply like this one. If you need to shave off even more, throw in a cheap case to free up extra cash for peripherals here. Just pick out a mouse, keyboard, and speakers that fit your personal style.

And of course, assembly and shipping (if requested) are on the house.

Have you noticed that CoH2 is the only thing showing such massive discrepancies in a hundred different ways?
It’s undeniable that it's 270x more powerful, but I wouldn't say it's quite 40% stronger.

This looks like a solid deal, though I’m a little suspicious. If it hasn't sold yet, what's the catch?

It’s definitely not too weak for League of Legends. It performs similarly to an HD 7850, and I actually know a guy who runs the game on an HD 7850 paired with a Phenom II, hitting high FPS even at a competitive level.

Exactly. Gaming performance stays pretty much the same regardless of which processor you pick.
While an FX 6300 should technically handle streaming better, just like you mentioned regarding $33, there's the FX 8300 which would be the ideal choice here. Honestly, it might be smarter to take the money you save on the CPU difference and put it toward a used GPU instead; the games aren't even that demanding. Plus, when it comes to streaming, your internet connection could still screw you over if you don't have a solid upload speed.

I'm running an 8350 overclocked to 4.2GHz paired with a GTX 770 on Windows 7 64-bit. I can stream everything at 720p 60fps without any issues so far... my main headache is my terrible ISP. I pay for 50/10, but I'm actually getting 60/7, and the packet loss is brutal.

The FX-8350 is perfectly fine for both gaming and streaming. Plenty of people use them and don't run into any more software issues than anyone else. (Those issues are usually caused by bad settings or a bug within the app itself, rather than the hardware.)

It really depends on what game you're playing and your resolution settings.

You can find comparisons between the R9 380 4gb and 2gb (R9 285), the GTX 960, and the R9 280 right here in this review.

Exactly

Also, keep in mind that the price you see online is the cash price; the other one is for financing. If you're placing an order through the website, just select the cash option, and then you can work out a monthly payment plan once you get to the store. The alternative online option is strictly for credit card transactions.

An Intel Core processor, minimum, or whatever the AMD equivalent is.
A solid graphics card that won't be obsolete by next Tuesday.
A 250 GB SSD.
I don't need a monitor.
I'll leave the rest of the components to the experts.

It looks like some software ate your system restore points

You might find yourself having to run that cleanup process every once in a while. I'm not entirely sure if a recent macOS update messed things up or what, but it keeps resetting back to 20%.

It looks like Cannonlake probably won't land on that specific socket—rumor has it their "tick-tock" cycle is officially broken. We can expect a Skylake refresh, or what they're calling Kaby Lake, sometime next year. After that, if they stick to this pattern of swapping out the socket every two generations, we'll likely see a whole new socket again later on.

As far as upgrading goes, just keep in mind that within any given socket, you might be able to jump up a class, like moving from an i5 to an i7.

It just isn't worth the investment to upgrade that system.

From everything I've heard and read, they have a pretty solid track record.
All you really need is a high-quality power supply, and nothing else will be at risk. Of course, a direct lightning strike is the one exception to that rule.

It’s actually a really solid link 😬
You don't necessarily need to grab a motherboard from $153, but man, that thing is total overkill

We're talking about factory overclocking here, so it shouldn't be an issue. Whether something ends up burning out or not is really just a roll of the dice.
