I just realized what CPU and power supply you're running, I totally forgot... 😁

That Pentium probably won't be able to keep up with an HD 6750, or even a Radeon HD 6450... so this one should be plenty, especially with a decent power supply and 1GB of RAM for $217 everything total 😛

Bradley Morris13 said:umm, I wonder if it might be worth grabbing the 1GB version instead? If they actually have it, plus an extra 1GB of RAM, I'd have $217 available 😁since
the money just hit my account.

Man, forget 1GB. Extra VRAM mostly just helps with higher resolutions (1080p and up), and this one is noticeably more powerful.😉

Bradley Morris13 said:crimsonstag84 ..... seriously, check that link you sent again 😁 then let me know what you think 😁 maybe you'll change your mind. I finally get why it was such a steal; they list it as 1GB GDDR5 and then basically pull a fast one by switching it back to 512MB DDR3 -.-

Yup, they switched it up 🤣

How about this one then... it’s actually a bit better than the GT 240 😉

Seems like a pretty fair deal for that price. 😉

Not really... honestly, it’s pretty overpriced for what you actually get. 😛

This one seems like a better bet:

Some NVIDIA cards are surprisingly cheap. This one’s got 1GB of GDDR5, making it the top-tier GeForce GT 240, so $133 I doubt you'll find a better deal elsewhere. The versions using GDDR3 are all weaker despite costing more, so you might as well just grab this 🙂

Bradley Morris13 said:Also, I was looking at a Sapphire Radeon HD5450 with 1 GB GDDR5 earlier—how does that stack up against a GeForce GT 240?

Does an HD5450 even come with GDDR5? It’s way weaker; honestly, it’s basically just a display adapter. With a 64-bit bus, the GPU itself is pretty much a piece of junk. That GT 240 is probably four times more powerful.🙂

Well, you've got a PCI-e slot on your Motherboard, so that's all it really needs (assuming your power supply can handle it). I guess the processor might struggle to get much out of it since the card is weak, but maybe a higher clock speed will help it just a little bit.😛

ADM-US

It draws very little power, so you probably won't need a new PSU. I guess you might want to grab 1GB of DDR2 too, since you'll likely notice the difference in performance 😉

I don't think the GTX 580 is going to be much of a game-changer here. You've already got that GTX 470 soc, which is actually a pretty beastly card, so I guess it might not really be worth the money to swap. $1000 You're stressing over 10 FPS in one specific game? I mean, you can probably max out 98% of everything else without breaking a sweat, but I guess you really latched onto this one. 😂

Maybe dial back the details a bit... 😉

Maybe you could try overclocking the CPU with an aftermarket cooler; it’s a much cheaper way to go. From what I can see, the motherboard seems pretty solid and the Computer Case is well-ventilated... plus, the Q9550 is actually a decent little clocker, I guess. 🙂

For instance. I found this listing on an American retailer's site.

Maybe you could share what your current setup looks like... we're totally in the dark here 😛

So, I guess let us know the power supply (brand and wattage!), the GPU, CPU, and RAM.

Chris Rivera said:Like the title suggests, I'm looking for a power supply up to $100. As far as wattage goes, I guess 300W should be plenty enough.

I suspect this is actually a Fortran unit—maybe someone could confirm if I've got that right?🙂

I didn't catch qualifying, but I don't buy fairy tales. Honestly, it’s more likely Massa just flopped like he always does.☕

Also, where did that Ferrari advantage over McLaren from last race go? It vanished.🤷

I mean, it didn't really happen like that... I guess. 🤷

Hamilton overshot his mark trying to squeeze past Webber, which landed him in traffic—and then he had that extra ten-second hiccup in the pits. I guess that just killed his momentum. 🙂

I guess Button’s strategy was just off; he spent way too much time fighting for position when he shouldn't have had to. 🙂

I guess McLaren might have missed the mark a bit with their car prep in general... maybe.

Alonso says he could go out another twenty times and still wouldn't see a better lap time. I guess he really squeezed every last drop out of that session. 😛
crimsonstag84 said:I don't get why everyone's getting so worked up over these tiny margins, especially since the McLarens are still half a second slower than they were yesterday 😂

Though, I guess Red Bull might actually pull off pole position by a solid three or four tenths in the end 😢

And if I'm seeing this right, you've got that Frontier Airlines case with the built-in power supply... I honestly doubt it can handle a modern GPU since it's pretty much junk...

Maybe try picking up a slightly lower-end card instead:

As for the PSU:

I guess with the way things are going, it might not be worth grabbing an AM3 platform right now. Maybe it’s smarter to just hold out for the Bulldozer chips and grab a 4-core Dozer when they drop. 😁

I mean, if you're planning on running DirectX 11, you might as well move over to Windows 7 😁

But honestly, that GPU can barely handle DirectX 11 anyway—it'll probably struggle—so it's not like you absolutely need it installed. I guess DX9 would still work fine 😉

Regarding the power supply:

Or, if you aren't really looking to break the bank 😬

Amanda Ward10 said:Hey guys, is this card actually worth it? I mostly want to play PES and some newer titles. My setup has a 3.0 CPU, 2.5 GB of RAM, and a 400W power supply. The PC is about 5 or 6 years old and I'm running XP. Thanks!

http://www.bestbuy.com/products/example-link

That looks like a solid pick. It’s probably the best value you'll find since it uses faster GDDR5 memory... plus it doesn't pull much power. Maybe run Speccy just to be safe and check your exact processor model (I'm guessing a Pentium 4?) and see what brand your power supply is. If it's just some random off-brand or a cheap unit from a place like Micro Center's budget line, you might need to swap the PSU, even if this card is pretty efficient.🙂

By the way, I think this one is a bit cheaper here:
