That’s the HyperX 3 k, though you can probably find it for ~$217 at other retailers too. 😉

It still feels a little slower than the Samsung drive, I guess...

Centro... then maybe three or four months later, the 2600K popped up for $386, but I guess it vanished within the same day 😁
The dollar is strengthening, which is driving up production costs... seeing prices jump from $1.75 to $2.00 in just the last few months. On top of that, certain GPUs, motherboards, RAM, and power supplies seem to be ticking up by a couple of bucks every single week at most shops.

I managed to snag a 2500K during that last big sale for $343 😬 ...and I guess tomorrow marks exactly one year since I bought it.
Budget PC build with monitor - $450 in Desktops ·
If you're willing to stretch the budget by another $100-$50, you could probably go with an Intel Celeron G1840 paired with an R7 250 x and a decent VA or IPS monitor. That would be okay for playing newer titles at a medium setting, though I guess mass-multiplayer games will mostly just hammer the CPU 😬

Regarding that, a fellow member mentioned it's actually the Hexi+ model, they just haven't updated their website yet.😉

What’s the point of putting together the exact same build if you can just buy it cheaper at another store? 🤔

For the 4x2GB setup (8GB total):

Transcend DDR3 2GB 1333MHz, JM1333KLN-2GBK x3
Samsung 870 EVO, 120GB, 7mm, 2.5"

Total: $319 center

Or maybe just 2+4GB for 6GB—which I guess is plenty—making sure one goes in the white slot and one in the blue.

Samsung 870 EVO, 120GB, 7mm, 2.5"
Adata DDR3 4GB 1333MHz, AD3U1333B2G9-R

Total: $250 center
Which PSU should I buy? in Desktops ·
Yeah, but it was a bit of a struggle.

I mean, it'll probably run on low settings with a Phenom II X2 and an HD 5770 eventually 😬
Gaming PC build under $750 (Denny's) in Desktops ·
I put this together myself, and it actually turns out to be $33 more expensive than buying it at Future.

just doing some research right now.

In that case, there's really no point in asking 🕺

Maybe check back in when you're actually 4 or 5 days away from buying. 😛

You might want to grab this while it’s still available at this price:

Though, I guess your theory is a bit questionable. 😬

We aren't really sure if the R9 3xx series is moving to a 20nm process yet, or even when that's actually happening.
Gaming PC build under $450 on Facebook in Desktops ·
Looks like we're looking at some PC-12800 memory—specifically a 4 GB Kingston KVR16LN11 /4, DDR3 1600MHz module. I guess that should get the job done.
It's a 460W power supply, specifically the LC Power Office Series Silent Giant GREEN POWER LC6460GP3 V2.3, which comes with a 140mm fan.
Maybe consider the AMD FX X6 6100 box, an AM3+ socket chip running at 3.3 to 3.9GHz with 14MB of cache—it’s a six core.
Just looking at this GAINWARD GeForce GTX 750 graphics card—it’s got 1GB of DDR5 and comes with D-SUB, DVI, and mini HDMI ports. It's a single slot design, too. I guess it might be useful for certain tight builds.
The BIOSTAR A960D+ motherboard features an AMD 760G /SB710 chipset, supports DDR3, and comes equipped with S-ATA, RAID, and G-LAN. It uses an mATX form factor and works with both AM3 and AM3+ sockets. I guess that covers the basics.
The LC Power Office Series cooler, compatible with sockets 775, 1155, 1156, AM2, and AM3.
Maybe this Toshiba DT01ACA050 500 is okay for a desktop setup. It's got that 7200 rpm speed and a 32MB cache, I guess.

Used PC builds: What are they worth? in Desktops ·
Not really, if I'm being honest $267.

Are you selling or buying? If you're looking to buy, I'm pretty sure you could find something better out there.

Your second card might end up being pretty much useless because that second PCI-e slot on this board only runs at x4 bandwidth.

This is what you'll need.

Without even messing with an overclock, you can still take advantage of the max Turbo multiplier on an i7:
1 x Intel Core i7-4790 Processor (3.60GHz,1MB,8MB,84W,1150) Box
1 x MSI Z97-G45 Gaming, S1150, Intel Z97 Chipset, 4xDDR3 1066-3000

$1113 AMD

Or you could go for a full-on overclock with an i5, though I guess you should probably budget for a really solid cooler if you don't have one already:

1 x Intel Core i5-4690K Processor (3.50GHz,1MB,6MB,88 W,1150) Box
1 x ASUS ROG Maximus, 1150, Intel Z97, DDR3, 4 Slots

$1106 AMD

Then again, if gaming is actually the goal, grabbing the NVIDIA GTX 970 + Z77 Extreme4 might be the best value, but you mentioned that isn't necessarily a priority...?
Gill01's Corner in Desktops ·
Maybe try to haggle for a better price, but if they won't budge, then just go with this:

Intel Core i5-4690K BOX, LGA 1150, 3.50GHz, 6MB cache, Integrated Graphics, quad Core
BIOSTAR HiFi Z97, Intel Z97, DDR3, audio, SATA, Gigabit LAN, RAID, PCI-E 3.0, USB 3.0, VGA, DVI, HDMI, ATX, LGA 1150

Total: $1055

Or you could grab an i5-4460 instead and mess around with the TurboBoost multiplier, which I guess would be $167 cheaper.

Since your power supply isn't exactly top-tier, maybe try this:

http://www.amazon.com/details/product-link-placeholder

It’s slightly more powerful than an R7 260, I think, and pulls about 60W.
Issues with my graphics card? in Desktops ·
Games like... CoD 4?

I’ve been running a Pentium 4 (3GHz) paired with an 8600 GTS on medium settings at 1280x1024, which gets me about 40-50 FPS. Since the 8500 GT is basically half as powerful as the 8600 GTS...
