You're right, you can't plan too far ahead. But all this medical literature is just confusing me. I convinced myself that it was something sexually transmitted, and now I'm looking for someone to talk some sense into me.
I find it hard to believe that in men, UTIs are strictly linked to STIs and weird bacteria, because that's definitely not the case for women.

Smart doctor. Probably because those antibiotics cover a wider range of bacteria—like Augmentin or whatever—so they handle their business. They just don't care about antibiotic resistance.

The doctor took a swab, and we should have the results back by tomorrow. He already started him on an antibiotic—I think it was Azithromycin. Now that he’s finished the course, he isn't showing any symptoms at all. Everything seems totally fine.

He just said he doesn't know what it is. Now I know that stinging sensation in men usually points to an STI. He’s been faithful to me, and I trust him. He should have the test results tomorrow. I’m mostly here because I want to understand what they're actually looking for in that swab. What kind of bacteria are they testing for? Can that stinging be caused by anything other than an STI? And is it possible this is something else entirely, or maybe something one of us has been carrying around for a while that just suddenly flared up if the results come back positive for something like chlamydia?

God, I'm not being naive, I'm just confused. It’s been like ten days since he had that sting, so why would his eye start hurting every time he blinks now?

None. My OB-GYN says everything looks crystal clear. Sure, I have HPV, but it isn't causing any issues. Let's just say he has it too, fine—but he isn't showing any symptoms either.
