Male urethral swab: What to expect?

So, my partner mentioned he’s feeling this stinging sensation when he pees. It’s the first time he’s ever dealt with anything like this. He went to see a urologist and they took a swab. Does anyone know what exactly they look for with those tests or what the results actually mean? I'm honestly pretty worried.
The doctor prescribed some antibiotics—not sure which ones—and his symptoms cleared up.
But now, ten days later, his eye is killing him. It's super red and it hurts every time he blinks.
This is also the first time this has happened to him.
I can't help but wonder if it might be an STI. Is that even possible? I don't have any symptoms down there at all. I actually saw my OB-GYN today and she said everything looks fine—no discharge, no inflammation. She did order a follow-up Pap smear for me, though, since I've been dealing with high-risk HPV and CIN 1.
What do you guys think?

Of course it’s not funny. It all hurts. It's awful, but you just have to deal with it...
but people here are mostly talking about swab procedures and debating whether intercourse with women is more painful than other stuff😍
What I actually want to know is why the swab was ordered in the first place. What were the symptoms? And specifically, is this strictly an STI issue?

Honestly, it’s entirely possible he could have picked that up from you and just been carrying it around for years without feeling a single thing until now. It happens more often than you'd think!

Yeah, I get it, that whole debate was just a bit of a joke... but honestly, when you look at how things actually work, it’s always the same story—whether you go through the hassle of getting a swab or not, they always end up finding something. At the end of the day, man, you just pop some Sumamed or Ciprofloxacin or whatever else works and you're good to go... so... hmm... it really makes you wonder if there's even any point in messing around down there or jumping through all those hoops for some fancy diagnostic test if the treatment plan is basically identical every single time anyway.

I honestly don't get it. Where are these symptoms even coming from? What's actually causing this? I've been reading up on it and apparently the incubation period for chlamydia can be up to three weeks, but the more I read, the less sense it makes. I thought about that too, but I really do trust him. We live together. He doesn't even have the time. Seriously, we are totally in sync, like two peas in a pod. And I don't have any symptoms at all. None. My OB-GYN says everything looks crystal clear. Sure, I have HPV, but it isn't causing any issues. Let's just say he has it too, fine—but he isn't showing any symptoms either.

I’m heading in tomorrow to get tested for chlamydia and everything else that comes with the standard panel. Honestly, I have zero experience with this kind of thing, so I’m feeling pretty down about it.🤷

I've heard that taking antibiotics can sometimes trigger those kinds of yeast infections.

Don't play games with the allergy excuse. STIs and eye infections are tied together—if you aren't careful during sex, bacteria can migrate easily. Don't be naive.
