Honestly, this whole debate feels kind of ridiculous to me. People act like it’s totally fine to label someone a hardcore Communist just because they disagree with current or former leaders, but the second you suggest someone might be a far-right extremist, everyone starts losing their minds. It's such a weird double standard.

If we aren't going to call out people for claiming Zoran Milanović is a Communist—when the guy was never even a member of the Communist Party—then I don't see why we should care about anyone labeling Franjo Tuđman a fascist.

I mean, what's actually the difference?

Actually, you're not entirely right there. If I dig around a bit, I can definitely find people who got permabanned just for "expressing their views on a sovereign state or calling for its end"—and obviously, we aren't talking about the US here... because, well, nobody gets kicked off for being patriotic toward the home country. If you're acting as a political junkie, you probably remember those cases vividly. So, if there are exceptions to the rules, people should just name them.

And I bet you anything that if someone from Mexico popped up with a take saying a certain country needs to be dismantled and used an avatar to match, they wouldn't last a single day on this forum.

So, some guy over at the New York Times basically invented this whole "rebel physiognomy" thing, where he looks at a woman's face and decides her grandfather was a radical insurgent and her dad was just some nobody... honestly, if people actually start holding everyone to those same standards, he might just get caught in his own trap one day.

Look, folks, just pick whatever criteria you want to use and stick to them consistently, and you won't have any issues.

Fine. For some people, being a Nazi isn't an insult, it's a compliment.

But on this forum, those "labels" are thrown around specifically to insult and tag users.

So, if I call someone a fascist and get banned, then anyone else calling me a red should face the same consequences if they're acting like a total radical.

That's it. Just keep the rules balanced.

Look, I'm talking about people using labels just to attack others on this forum. Calling someone a fascist or a communist is basically just being used as a coded insult.

Since we’re already calling people out, if you're going to slap sanctions on anyone sharing fascist rhetoric, then ustašofila should be just as quick to demand the same treatment when people get labeled as communists or Stalinists.

Honestly, it’s just two sides of the exact same coin.

If someone calls a Prime Minister or the President a Taliban, a communist, a fascist, or whatever else, does that trigger an instant ban? Every single one of them is DIRECTLY elected, making them bigger representatives of the American people than the head of the church—who isn't even elected and is DECLARATIVELY supported by 85% of the population. And yet, through direct elections, they end up choosing an agnostic to lead the whole damn country.

People, you’re being hypocrites. You realize these kinds of insults get thrown at the President and the Prime Minister (whether it was Mason, Sanders, Josipovic, or whoever else) every single day, right?

Unless someone can explain to me why calling someone a Taliban is somehow a worse insult than calling them a communist, a fascist, a traitor, a Yusupovic, or any of the rest.

Now the admins are going to be buried under a mountain of reports for every single instance of an insult.

Unless someone actually proves that "Taliban" carries that much weight as an insult.
