If I could just push a little further with one question—is it actually possible for hemorrhoids to "come back" after surgery?

Once you've had the HAL ligation procedure, no...

This is my first time posting on this thread and my very first time ever using this forum, so please bear with me if I seem a little lost around here.

During my own personal "ordeal," this forum and its standout members have been such a massive help to me. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone, but especially to Michael Diaz4—my true mentor and a real lifesaver.

Here’s my take on things and what I've experienced so far:

I’ve been dealing with hemorrhoid issues since I was seventeen. Maybe it’s just my genetics playing tricks on me? It makes me wonder: how much can we actually push back against our DNA? To what extent can we truly be the masters of our own bodies and our own lives?

Since then, I’ve completely cut out anything spicy or intense from my diet. I'm a vegetarian now, and I don't touch alcohol, coffee, or cigarettes either. Still, it's pretty obvious that any kind of excess—any lifestyle imbalance at all—can trigger the kind of disruptions that eventually lead to health issues.

My struggle with hemorrhoids was hovering right on the edge of being critical until this past January. It all started with a minor cold that turned into a mess of mutated microbes and an ear infection. I had to take some pretty brutal antibiotics, and since I wasn't getting any decent probiotic support, everything just went south. I ended up dealing with massive constipation and total blockage, which triggered Grade 3 hemorrhoids, a fissure, polyps, and several old and new external skin tags.

The pain was just... unreal. It was this intense, relentless ache that hit right after every single bowel movement, and once it started, it didn't let up. I’m talking nine straight hours—from early morning all the way through 5:00 or 6:00 in the evening. Honestly, words don't really do it justice. Then again, I suppose pain is always relative and subjective, isn't it?

As our resident expert Michael Diaz4 once pointed out, you aren't truly ready to face surgery until the pain becomes absolutely unbearable and the situation feels impossible to manage—assuming, of course, that you're dealing with at least third-degree hemorrhoids. Until then, you actually have the "luck" of sticking to conservative treatments. But a word of warning: if you leave second-degree issues untreated, or if you pair them with an erratic lifestyle and poor eating habits, things are only going to get worse.

I headed into that surgery with nothing but pure dread in my eyes.
Back on April 2nd, 2015, I underwent the IBM procedure at the Lastrić Clinic. The whole experience was handled with such professionalism. Everyone there was incredibly friendly, and honestly, it was a wonderful, painless process.

To be honest, my recovery was pretty brutal—just as painful as the period leading up to the surgery. It makes sense, though. When you consider what they actually did—an arterio-venous ligation, internal polyp resection, fixing a fissure, and that external anal reconstruction (RAR)—it’s a lot for the body to handle. The pain didn't really start to taper off significantly until after a full month had passed. I'm still struggling with sitting for long periods; it's just not comfortable yet. My best bet is either lying on my side or taking a light stroll. But, I actually made it into the office today. Progress, I suppose.

Based on my own experience, I’d say you’re looking at about 45 days for a full recovery.

After everything I've been through, I can honestly say I feel like a new person. I truly believe the worst is behind me now. That intense pain wasn't just suffering; it was my body sending me a message, forcing me to stop and actually think about things. Looking back, that pain was like a life coach I didn't know I needed. It was the only way I could have realized that my internal systems were completely out of sync with the world around me. There's no arguing with that.

Even though I’m a vegetarian, my emotional life and my diet clearly aren't in sync. My food choices lack variety and balance. I tend to eat too fast—I really need to slow down and chew more—and my portions are always off, either way too much or way too little. It creates this constant imbalance between yin and yang, an upset between the acidic and the alkaline.

Diet matters. It really does. Eating a healthy, varied diet—plenty of fruits, vegetables, fiber, and inulin, plus staying hydrated—is everything. At the end of the day, what we eat and how we live directly impacts our digestive lining. If that mucosal barrier gets compromised, we're essentially leaving our bloodstream and our entire system wide open to damage from pathogenic microorganisms that were perfectly fine living in harmony with us until things went wrong.

My own experience aligns perfectly with what modern science is proving: probiotics and prebiotics are the future of medicine. We need to move away from those harsh antibiotics that just wreck everything, destroying the harmony and the delicate balance of microorganisms in our digestive tract—a system we simply can't survive without.

On a side note; the natural broad-spectrum antibiotic found in oregano oil is incredibly fascinating.

For those of us dealing with issues involving venous-arterial circulation, or even hemorrhoids themselves, I truly believe there is an underlying emotional component. It’s often about suppression. We struggle with being completely honest with ourselves and others. We tend to lean toward false tolerance or taking the path of least resistance by bottling things up. But how can we truly love anyone else if we don't first love ourselves with all our heart and soul?

Looking back at all the posts here, especially from those facing recurrences, I feel my proctologist did exactly what he was supposed to do. He did his job well, and now the outcome of my surgery will depend entirely on how I manage my diet and how I live my life.

We are the architects of our own fortune!

Be mindful of what you eat, because that food becomes your body, your health, and potentially your illness.

To my fellow forum members: thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for all the help and for sharing your experiences on this topic.

Don't lose hope; this too shall pass.

Thank you.🙂

Sarah Rivera77 said:Hi everyone,
I’m asking for help because I feel like I’m losing my mind here...
For about a month now, maybe a little less, I've been feeling pressure in my rectum, right below the tailbone....
It's much worse when I'm sitting down (and I sit for at least 10 hours a day), and sometimes it feels like all the bones in my pelvic area are going numb.

My bowel movements are inconsistent—sometimes they're fine, other times they're very loose or non-existent.
For the last few days, I've been using suppositories in the evening (in case these are hemorrhoids), and I feel like they might be causing the loose stools. Is that possible??

The pressure is so intense that it feels like my rectal muscle has weakened, almost like it's somehow left open.

Please, I need advice!!!!!!!!!!

Best regards!

If you're able to handle such loose stools, then everything is likely okay in that regard, but you should definitely go see a doctor if you suspect something is wrong.

I just wanted to mention that the blog post was pretty confusing and honestly contained some inaccuracies. It’s probably too late to fix it now, though. Tomorrow, I’ll dive a bit deeper into Formula 1 technical details—things like RPM, gearboxes, clutches, and all that. I’ve been following this stuff for a while, so I’m comfortable with the basics, but I’m still getting up to speed on the newer tech regarding energy recovery systems and DSR. Torque is such a massive factor during a race; whoever has more of it has the advantage in acceleration, especially if that torque hits at lower RPMs, making it much easier to power out of corners. Top speed on a straightaway is ultimately dictated by horsepower (though torque plays its part too), but I'll get into that more over the next few days. I really hope the rest of you jump in here with some helpful links...

I haven't seen any posts from mario550 yet. If there’s something specific they wrote that you want me to rework, just pass it along. I'll get right on it. kaže:
Take a look at this and maybe you'll actually learn something about torque and how it functions in the real world. Here’s the bottom line: if you have two cars with the exact same power output and weight, they are going to be equally fast. Period.

🤦🤣 It’s honestly hilarious. This blog has absolutely nothing to do with anything we're actually discussing. No wonder you were making those points earlier when you were referencing this mess... 🤡

You clearly haven't a clue. There is an entire thread dedicated to horsepower and torque, so please don't make me count them out again...
If the moderator moves these posts to the technical section, then we can give a much more detailed explanation of what you missed and where you're getting it wrong...

No, the main point is that he just struggles regardless of what he's driving. Last year he was in the best car on the grid, and this year he's in one of the nearly best ones...

John Bailey said:So, the pain started on Thursday. By Friday, I felt a little bump. After a sleepless night, I went in for an exam; one internal and one external issue.
They prescribed some Vactu cream and some anti-inflammatory pills.
Then this morning, there was blood after using the bathroom. Back to the doctor again; he tells me surgery isn't off the table.😢
I've never had issues before, but now the pain is making life unbearable, and they're already planning the surgery....

If the doctor said you need surgery, then you need surgery. Honestly, look on the bright side—you get to deal with this right now and be done with it forever.☕

Melissa Fowler said:Hi everyone. I woke up this morning and had bloody diarrhea, and honestly, my legs went weak from the shock. I immediately jumped to the worst-case scenario. I’ve dealt with hemorrhoids before, but nothing ever this intense. I went to see my doctor, and without even doing a full exam, she just assumed they were hemorrhoids based on what I told her. Nothing hurts right now, it was just pretty uncomfortable earlier today. Has anyone else experienced something like this? The amount of blood really caught me off guard.

That much bleeding... Look, diarrhea is terrible for hemorrhoids. You should definitely head to a doctor to have them take a look and get a prescription for some cream...

Wait, are we even talking about the same thing here? I mean, are we referring to that specific seat cushion—the one with the hole right in the middle? 😁

I think we're on the same page here. It won't really change anything for you, but hey, give it a shot if you want to.

brighttinker23 said:Where can I pick up a hemorrhoid cushion? Thanks. 👍

You know what your issue is with that pad? You go to apply it, and before you even know it, it’s all wiped right off onto your underwear...🤦 And if the cream is greasy—which, let's be honest, it totally is—it’s just going to leave those nasty marks all over your clothes.😁 Maybe just try adding something extra, like a pad or something. Honestly, I don't think it'll make much of a difference for you, but hey, give it a shot if you want... Just make sure you find the right cream to go with it. That’s the real key.
Casey Hill57 said:You’ve gotta give him some credit here; he was basically just defending his home turf, rooting for the local squad with a massive fan base 😁 where it was pretty obvious that those four titles he snagged over at Red Bull Racing aren't exactly enough to satisfy a driver of his caliber. It sounds kind of backwards, I know, but that's just how it plays out. You could really see it in the way the crowd started booing like crazy.
There was just one thing missing, and that was a legendary powerhouse with iconic red cars and a wild, massive army of fans, whether they're based in the heart of Italy or spread all across the globe.

I’m honestly a little worried (well, mostly for the rest of the grid) that Sebastian Vettel is going to get fired up now. This whole feeling and the rush of euphoria might be exactly what he needs to snap out of that slump he's been stuck in lately while driving for Red Bull Racing.
Don't get me wrong, Mercedes is still DEFINITELY ahead of the pack, but this loss hit them so hard it practically knocked them sideways, and they haven't quite found their footing again yet. 👍

Mercedes doesn't have top-tier DRIVERS right now, whereas today Vettel showed exactly what kind of driver he is. He's the best out there currently, no question... you saw it today. I think Nico Rosberg will step up now because he's more grounded than the arrogant and, let's be honest, not-so-bright Hamilton... Mercedes has a much better car, but they lack the drivers, which is something Vettel can exploit if he has a fast enough machine. The big question is what happens when the weather turns cold. I'm not sure if Ferrari can even compete with Mercedes then; Mercedes might actually thrive in the rain due to better grip, but they won't have Vettel...
Casey Hill57 said:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmWYNHGKcPM

😁

Honestly, this is just plain gross. He’s easily the best driver on the grid right now, and he’s my absolute favorite, but this whole behavior is just pathetic...
Drew Bennett68 said:But wait, are you really not thrilled that someone finally broke the Mercedes stranglehold!?

Honestly, if anyone other than Lewis or Nico had taken the win today, I’d be just as stoked. It’s about time!

Of course...
Things are really going to get interesting once the rain starts falling...
stormybadger8 said:In what sense? 😁
Mercedes will probably still be ahead, but since they're this close, I’d say there's a real shot they get caught during the season...
And honestly, I have a feeling Nico Rosberg is going to catch fire. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the podium is just a constant rotation of Hamilton, Vettel, and Kimi, just swapping steps.

But I’ve got a hunch Rosberg is going to seriously regret saying he wanted Ferrari to push them harder.😁

Hamilton is good enough to stay ahead of Ferrari even with a tiny advantage, but Rosberg? Not likely.
So, it wouldn't be impossible for Ferrari to snatch the constructors' title if everything falls right.

It’s too early to call it... Mercedes is miles, miles ahead and they have the fastest car on the grid, which has been very reliable so far. But whether the drivers can actually handle the pressure remains to be seen—nobody ever truly shines when the heat is on. It’s possible that Rosberg, being less aggressive and more understated, might fare better than an arrogant Hamilton, who only seems to perform when everything is perfect. As soon as things go sideways, we see him crack... just like today...☕
steelmaker83 said:You’ve earned the right to enjoy yourselves today, but don't get too comfortable... things are going to change soon enough.

Nobody is actually celebrating here. These are just the facts, and everything is finally settling into its rightful place. Last year, when things felt inconsistent, you lot used that to vent and write nonsense... Now, the situation feels a bit more organic. Whether it stays this way remains to be seen. We'll likely see some colder races where tire degradation won't matter nearly as much... But rain? Rain always changes the game.😁
stormybadger8 said:That’s probably why he’s your favorite idiot in this whole mess...😁
Honestly, just looking back at how much some teams fell apart right after he left, everything becomes pretty obvious.

I really want to see if some random rookie can actually jump into his seat at McLaren and start grabbing podiums and wins in their very first season.😁

👍 Yeah, he stepped into a situation where everything was already dialed in. Back then, the foundation was there, but now? He’s been nowhere to be found for years. Look, McLaren isn't even a bad team, and the car is actually pretty solid, but Alonso just doesn't have the edge needed to make that car fly. Even now, he's out there complaining that things were fine right up until the engine gave out. It was a rough race for him. I'm not saying he's a bad driver, but he didn't show anything special today. Nothing at all.
neonfox65 said:Then explain to me how he got absolutely smoked by Ricardo in the exact same car last year... 👋>

He had more mechanical failures, which was the main issue, and honestly, the car just didn't suit his driving style. Comparing a four-time consecutive world champion to a rookie driver is just... well, it’s misplaced and frankly a bit silly. Without Michael Schumacher around, Formula 1 is only worth watching because of Sebastian Vettel. He proved once again today that he's the greatest. In those head-to-head battles, he absolutely smoked them.👋
neonfox65 said:I’m seriously considering just walking away from Formula 1 altogether because these races are absolute garbage.

Ps. Someone please wake me up when McLaren actually starts winning again...👋

Beep, beep, did Sebastian Vettel suddenly learn how to drive, or did maybe Fernando Alonso just forget how?😒 Sebastian Vettel is in a solid team on a track that really suits Ferrari—he even mentioned that three days ago, and Kimi agreed. As the best driver on the grid, he took the win without any issues. He is the best Formula 1 driver these days... No doubt...:klap:

Back at my six-week checkup after the surgery, they told me the pain was likely just from a lingering internal stitch, but promised it would pass quickly.
Unfortunately, the pain hasn't let up. If anything, it feels sharper than when I first started, and I'm constantly dealing with bloating.
To be honest, I haven't been strictly following the diet. I've been eating pretty much whatever—way too much meat. I'm switching over to a more disciplined meal plan now, so hopefully, that helps.
I’m getting ready for another follow-up. My referral is all set; I’m just waiting for my surgeon to get back into the office, as he's currently out.
On the bright side, there's no more bleeding or swelling. Bowel movements are easy enough, even if they are frequent and painful.
I'll just have to wait and see what the doctor says. It’s best to let him take a look since it’s already been six months since the procedure.
Maybe I'm just one of those unlucky 15% where the surgery doesn't actually fix everything. Statistics can be a cruel thing.

Well... I can't give you a definitive answer because I'm no doctor, but I really doubt it's a leftover stitch. Those usually dissolve on their own without causing this kind of pain.

Rachel Bennett90 said:I honestly didn't believe the doctor when he said my recovery would be this fast... though I have to admit, it feels much easier. Can someone tell me if it's normal that I can still see them down there? I mean, I can see the stitches too... it's bothering me a bit. It's been 8 days since the surgery today.

My surgeon told me straight away: no sitting for 45 days. What you're seeing is just swelling. As for the stitches, if I remember correctly, mine fell out after about 10 days while I was in the shower. Then they came out again a couple more times a few days later. Just make sure you don't deal with any constipation and you'll be fine...
