@Jessica Kelly4 I mean, since you’re basically fine with any topic thrown your way, it really just shows that your main goal is preaching your religious beliefs.
PS It looks like the street lamps have stopped being released. In NYC, you haven't been able to pick up a new code from vendors for months now.
@lonebadger6 You basically just answered your own question about whether debating abortion itself even makes sense here—especially on a thread focused on something like conscience clauses. Plus, if there’s a specific PDF meant for those kinds of deep dives, we should probably stick to that. We aren't even supposed to touch historical stuff on the Politics board, so no use complaining. Just head over to History instead. 🙂
The typical lifestyle crowd is doing their usual thing, playing the victim and whining that they aren't being allowed to voice their opinions. Honestly, what they have to say doesn't carry much weight on the Religion board anyway, and they could easily take it to the ZK. But no, they’re dead set on staying in Politics. If they don't get their way, they start acting like democracy is broken.
It’s starting to feel like a certain kind of fanaticism—just this obsessive behavior that gets exhausting really fast. Both for people trying to read the threads and for those of us moderating them.
Jessica Kelly4 said:I get why a site like Reddit would block sketchy links and bad arguments. But that’s a whole different animal than the censorship you or slywolf45 are pushing for.
Look, mods aren't trying to start endless, pointless fights; they just want a decent conversation. You can't have a real discussion if one side is busy calling the other a murderer just because they support legal medical procedures here in the States.
What you're constantly hunting for is basically like someone starting a thread on a political sub supposed to be about policy, but instead, they just go off on how all Catholics are killers because the Church is against condoms, and therefore people die from AIDS. They'll find plenty of links, studies, and articles to back it up—because let's face it, you can find a "study" to support almost anything. Then, once the mods shut the thread down or give them a warning, they come crawling back here whining about how democracy is dead.
It's pretty simple: we either have total anarchy with zero moderation, or we follow the forum's rules. Personally, I think the admins have way more patience for this group of slackers than they should, for real.
Some people don't actually want a discussion; they just show up to preach at everyone else using all sorts of shady, unscientific stuff (basically just religious claims). So, I think the moderator made the right call here. It was the only way to go. Honestly, though, I’m a bit confused why this thread is even still live, considering we basically just moved a banned debate from the original PDF over here.
I’m totally on board with this move by the mods. Honestly, I think we should apply this same logic to all the other threads too. When it comes to certain core principles and big-picture ideas, there shouldn't be any debating or attempts at "quasi-democracy."
So, on that thread about Joe Biden’s dad—you know, the one where they're pushing those claims from that convicted killer Vukšić about how his father Ante was responsible for some girl's death—even the moderator decided to jump into the "debate." It's actually a legit topic if you think about it. 👎
Looks like the New York Post finally has some real competition. Love to see it.
@nimblewalker58/">@@nimblewalker58 That’s exactly why mods can’t be online 24/7—this suggestion actually makes their lives easier. Fewer posts means less cleanup work. Until we actually try it, we're just sitting here complaining about how it might ruin discussions. Half the threads in the shitty Politics section aren't even worth a kilobyte of bandwidth. You’ve got a massive crowd of self-proclaimed "experts" weighing in on everything from Syria to how to monetize a blog. You can't even start a new thread without the same old crowd popping up with the exact same tired arguments. 😵.
The worst part is how people over there label anyone who disagrees with them as traitors, Mexicans, or worse. And nobody says a word. If someone actually snaps and sends one of those people a nasty DM, they're the ones who get banned. That's not right. We need much more serious moderation—forcing people to actually watch what they say and cutting down on all the mindless emotional venting and bitterness.
William Bennett53 said:This thread was just opened an hour ago. Mods aren't prison guards; they don't need to be hovering over the site 24/7 ready to jump on every single little thing instantly. If you see something fresh that bothers you, just hit the report button and give them at least a day to log on, check the flag, and decide how to handle it.
It’s not about how fast things get shut down—I wasn't even criticizing that. I'm just saying this topic doesn't belong in Politics, just like the last one.
If you ask me, both threads are beneath the standards of a site like Reddit that tries so hard to be the best platform out there.
That first thread is honestly disgraceful because it's pure chauvinism. The author thinks it's totally fine to count blood cells when making or enforcing laws. That's unconstitutional and shouldn't even be up for debate—just like how we wouldn't debate whether or not to sterilize the Rom community. But since it's already gone on for several pages, I guess the mods are cool with it? Where do we draw the line? Someone gets banned for something minor, but this stays up.
And this thread, just getting started? This is straight-up intel from the deep web, honestly. It should be treated with the same weight as anything else on the Politics sub .
Hey, I just reported this post. I’m really curious to hear what rustydrifter10 thinks—is this actually okay, or did it cross a line?
Honestly, you can find this kind of rhetoric all over Reddit these days. It really shows people's true colors. It's honestly pretty gross. I'd love to believe that stuff like this isn't actually allowed on here.
I'm reporting this, but let me say it again: you can tell how bad the moderation is just by looking at the trash discussions happening right now, especially regarding the Presidential election. It’s because "anything goes" until you actually call someone an idiot—which, let's be real, they clearly are. Then suddenly, you’re the one getting a warning, even if you were just sharing something useful, like a link to an official government document or explaining a legal term.
It honestly breaks my heart when someone, say a lawyer, tries to explain something from a professional standpoint, only to get hit with a mountain of nonsense from people who don't have a clue, and then they get kicked out just because they lost their cool.
In the thread about conscientious objection, there are already pages upon pages of people fighting about how abortion is murder. It has nothing to do with the actual topic, but since nobody is directly insulting anyone, they get away with it. The whole discussion has gone completely off the rails.
You can't have a quality debate if basic facts aren't accepted as common ground. If that's not the case, we aren't having a discussion; we're just dealing with trolling. The Earth is round, and there's no debate about that, so I don't get why, in a thread about conscientious objection, people are allowed to stubbornly insist that abortion is murder. It isn't. If you can't accept that, don't post there. Same goes for the President; if I were a moderator, the moment someone called him a traitor, they'd get a permanent ban. They can go scream it somewhere else. And it doesn't matter who the current President is—none of them have been traitors. 🙂
Anyone who follows American Politics knows the truth: the people posting the most aren't actually saying anything worth reading. As long as they aren't breaking the rules by being directly offensive, the mods just let them run wild. It’s honestly ruined so many threads. Even looking back at the Presidential election archives feels like scrolling through the comment section of some sketchy right-wing tabloid.
Can we please get some kind of rate limit on how many posts someone can drop in a single thread? If there are limits for signing up, why isn't there one for posting?
I’d take any technical fix if it meant stopping this constant spamming. The moderators clearly can't handle it themselves.
If it’s doable, I think you should test out that new concept on one of the threads. Just posting for the sake of posting really lowers the bar. It doesn't even increase engagement; it just creates a mountain of nonsense from basically the same group of people. I honestly don't get how arguing about whether Joe Biden is an American—or claiming Americans are the biggest threat to America back in 2014—can be considered an actual "debate." Quantity has absolutely killed quality here.
Just an idea, assuming this is even technically possible.
On so many threads, we run into the same issue: the same few usernames end up dominating everything. They basically hijack the conversation, turning the thread into their own private playground. It ends up driving away anyone who doesn't have the patience to wade through endless walls of text from people who aren't even really talking about the topic anymore.
If you capped daily posts on a specific thread at, say, 10, the whole vibe would change instantly. People would actually think twice before trolling or posting total garbage if they actually care about having a real conversation.
It’s a one-stop solution to cut down on trolling and personal attacks, which means less work for the mods and way better quality discussions overall.
granitefalcon26 said:It sounds like you're trying to bring back speech crimes. Honestly, feels like some old-school censorship from way back in the day.☕
Come on, man. Democracy doesn't mean you get to talk trash about whoever you want without any consequences. Being free doesn't mean there isn't accountability for what you write or say. Not to mention, let's be real—not everyone's posts on this board are actually worth reading.
I’m dying to know how people would act if we didn't have anonymity here—if you had to hand over your full legal name and Social Security number just to sign up. 😁
Would granitefalcon26 still be flexing that anti-communist attitude and his hatred for the South like he does now? 😁
Emily Patel64 said:Honestly, this forum is stacked. You click anywhere and hit a total expert.🙂
But seriously, admin team—have you thought about finally shutting down that daily spam site that lives off nothing but fake news, cheap drama, manufactured hysteria, and constant regional bickering?
Basically, it's time to stop a handful of people from harassing thousands of members. There’s this small group of maybe 5 or 6 folks who started a witch hunt against Ryan Vaughn7 and a few others just because they have different opinions, even though he's a mod.
They're acting like those messy activist groups trying to force everyone to think the same way. Get this: how can a mod give someone a warning if they don't agree with the mob? Where does that authority come from? It makes zero sense.🤦
It’s getting out of hand. Just look at the threads popping up lately. It used to be that questioning bans or warnings was strictly off-limits unless it was about yourself. Now, everyone's playing lawyer for each other. First, there was that blowout over moderation on ZK, and now we've got this whole thing happening in Politics.
If you ask me, mods should stop feeling like they need to justify every single move they make. Start handing out more permabans. This isn't anarchy; it's a private forum. If people can't respect the rules the mods set, they can go somewhere else. Go start your own board and write whatever you want there. If "community standards" for most people means insulting others or filing complaints with the Prosecutor General, then they don't belong in Politics.
And you know what? You guys should probably start reporting certain posts to the police. It's time to stop using internet anonymity as a shield for spreading hate before the owner ends up in hot water. Trust me, someone's going to file a report eventually.
Shout out to the Politics mods—you guys are doing a solid job.👍
Come on, guys, please give me a break here 😁 When it comes to reporting mods, they actually work like a charm. I know from experience because I go through phases where I end up filing a ton of reports 😬 They respond to most things, though not everything—they have the right to decide when something doesn't necessarily warrant a ban. For the most part, from what I can see, they jump on primitive insults and flame wars.
Aside from Lockheed Martin, the mods over in the politics section are honestly great and super objective. They don't abuse their power to tilt the conversation. 🙂
I’ve got a killer suggestion for the mods. We should start cracking down on anyone who can't hold a conversation like a grown-up. That means no more primitive labeling people by their political colors—no more red vs. blue nonsense. Also, let's nix the people who can't argue without trying to psychoanalyze someone's face or judging them based on how they look. Like, newsflash: you can't tell someone's politics just by looking at their head shape. To keep things fair, maybe give everyone three strikes? After that, they get a partial ban from the New York Times comments section. 😍
jadeseal4 said:...I find it pretty interesting how you’re backing the move to silence anyone talking about the threats made against Karolina Vidović Krišto’s kids.
Honestly, with the way you love throwing labels around, you don't even deserve a seat at the table on this forum. If you ask me, people like you should just get a permanent ban. There are plenty of trashy websites out there where you and your buddies can whine about your enemies or obsess over counting blood cells for Fred Matić—no big deal, except nobody actually reads those sites. That’s the difference here. This forum is the go-to spot in the US and across the whole former Eastern Bloc region, unlike those obscure corners of the web. 😁
Hey everyone, I’m totally on board with the moderators' decision. Also, just a quick request to the PŽK mods: please help protect this forum from those endless crusades against the Politics mods—specifically targeting Ryan Vaughn7. jadeseal4 has already started two different threads about this exact issue, focusing on how Ryan Vaughn7 handles moderation and keeps shutting down topics that matter to him. My take? If a topic is important enough for one person, it should probably be considered important for the whole community. 😁
