Track 24 on CD 2 isn't actually on the disc; it only shows up on the box set tracklist.
It’s not a mistake, though—there's an explanation tucked away in the booklet.

So, they basically listed a song that isn't even on the CD. What a joke. I wouldn't drop five bucks on something like that. It makes you wonder what other nonsense is hiding inside this box set.

Yeah... interesting... I hadn't noticed that until now.

At the end of the day, my main priority was seeing stuff like City, Greece, Mirror, Xenia, and Paraf properly represented... which they are. But still, what happened above is definitely a major oversight.
I'm eyeing this specific Box Set:

I’d much rather do a trade, but if things don't pan out, I'm open to just buying it outright with cash.

I noticed there are some local listings popping up on Discogs, so if any of the sellers
want to cut a deal through here, please reach out with an offer.

I can also do a local pickup in downtown Chicago.
Just let me know if you're interested in buying... especially if you're hunting for some New Wave stuff...

Is anyone actually looking to pick anything up?

Honestly, I’m only letting go of things I already have doubles of...

Well, there it is. It sat there for over six months and nobody bit.

Basically, my collection of box sets has grown quite large... I've got some duplicates piling up, and it's high time I cleared them out.

Aside from this Discovery box set mentioned above, I'm also offering...

The Velvet Underground - Peel Slowly & See (VG+/VG)

https://www.discogs.com/release/3690...Slowly-And-See

I won't list specific prices because my main goal here is a trade...

I'll be adding more box sets to the list soon.
If you pick up any of these, you can grab this one for free:

Ultimate Rock & New Wave - a somewhat uniquely compiled 5CD digipack set featuring mostly new wave mixed with some classic rock, hard rock, and even a touch of metal.

The outer cover is a bit frayed, which isn't the prettiest look, but the discs themselves are untouched.

Perfect for the car ride...

If Phil Spector & Co. Inc. doesn't land a convincing win among these options, it would be a total travesty. Honestly, it'd feel just like when Band Aid failed to hit number one back in '84 on Della's old annual charts...

Just like the whole music PDF, really.

Given how things are looking right now, it’s hardly any surprise.

brightwolf48 said:My suggestion was pretty straightforward: if someone doesn't get the thread started on time, they shouldn't be allowed to suggest an album or cast a vote anymore. That part hasn't really been considered yet.

I am 100% on board with that.

I’d take it a step further and say there should be a hard 24-hour deadline to open the thread once the voting wraps up.

It would bring a much-needed sense of order to the whole process.

IMHO.

Lisa Davis46 said:But honestly, even Simple Minds are being categorized that way these days. Two albums. It doesn't matter if they both happen to come out in the same year. Every single project stands on its own two feet as its own unique entity, right? 😛 I have to say, I’m totally on board with what she was saying just now. I’ve been thinking about those old-school American crosswords lately—the kind you find in a Sunday paper or tucked inside a local magazine. There’s something uniquely satisfying about the hunt, isn't there? It’s like a little mental puzzle designed to test how much trivia you've actually retained from a lifetime of reading and watching the news. It’s a slow burn, a deliberate process of elimination that requires a certain level of patience. You can't rush it, much like a good cup of coffee or a long drive through the Midwest. You just have to sit with it, let the clues sink in, and wait for that "aha!" moment. I'm looking at the first page of our thread right now, and I'm honestly stuck. I haven't quite decided which cover image to go with yet. 😁 Both?

Actually, when it comes to Simple Minds, I’ve always found myself gravitating toward the stuff that fits perfectly right after those early suggestions I gave you. There are two tracks in particular from that era that I honestly think might be some of their absolute best work. That said, it’s probably high time I went back and revisited those even earlier albums to freshen things up.

Regarding the cover art, since I originally pitched this as a "2-in-1" release, it probably makes the most sense to go with that specific layout—you know, where the main album gets the spotlight in the center, and the bonus material is tucked neatly along the side on the same sleeve.

What Gerald Jackson48 just posted is absolutely spot on.

New Gold Dream is what you’d call—with a few caveats—easy listening, but infused with that specific new wave and synth-pop energy that was driving everything back then.

No, you absolutely can't just gloss over everything they turned their backs on up until the mid-90s.
There’s something truly special about *Once Upon a Time*. It’s an absolute anthem-heavy MOR pop masterpiece packed with massive hits. That said, I’d argue *Street Fighting Years* is actually a step up in terms of pure quality. It feels much more fleshed out and melodically complex, even if those big radio singles take a bit of a backseat to the deeper artistry.

If you look at the discography, there’s a certain sweet spot right around where *Real Life* sits—somewhere between those two specific albums. But once you get past *Good News from the Next World*, things start taking a bit of a nosedive. Aside from maybe the occasional single, the quality of the releases just keeps sliding, and honestly, that downward trend hasn't really stopped to this day.

Hey, Lisa Davis46... it’s not quite the same thing.

What you’re looking at right now are two separate studio albums released back in 1980 and 1982.
Actually, my whole thought process was that anyone who wants to can pitch multiple suggestions for different albums—especially during those slower weeks when things aren't moving as fast.

But what I was getting at last time were two albums that were originally released together in the USA (specifically, that second one served as a free bonus to the "main" studio record)... so, effectively, you could grab two for the price of one at that moment.
That second record eventually hit the shelves as its own standalone release... just like the first one did, of course.

I suppose you could say I took advantage of the situation and "doubled up" all at once, but only because the labels decided to bundle them that way in the first place.

Uh... looking at the sheer amount of insults being thrown around today, it feels like we might be hitting a new record... though, unfortunately, it's a pretty pathetic one...

😛
Album of the week in Music ·
In my humble opinion, that's a pretty meager number of albums for a single week.

Can anyone throw out some more suggestions? I'm all ears if you're feeling inspired!
