Oh, fantastic. Now they’re just going to dump all the tests at once and then suddenly cram five of them into a single week. It’s enough to drive anyone absolutely insane—I guess.

Mine is in school. Her teacher would just get these emails from the local health department, which she’d forward to us, and they’d specify how long the isolation period was supposed to last.

It could be anything, really—cervical vertebrae, spinal issues, maybe something neurological, or even psychogenic in nature...
The diagnostic process needs to begin immediately.

Personally, I’d classify it more as horror-action—if that makes sense.
Still, I have to agree, it's an excellent film, especially considering how thin the budget clearly was.

The math is simple: you hit a calorie deficit—assuming you’re actually eating real food, of course—and pair that with intense daily workouts, probably at least an hour and a half or two.
There just isn't any magic pill.

Jack Cook7 said:$125 million just for props, CGI, and woke propaganda?

If you haven't caught on yet—and apparently some people haven't—the whole movie is ultra woke. It’s basically a story where men, unable to handle female supremacy, just gave in to their primal impulses and literally wiped out women... as nonsensical as that sounds. But hey, I guess woke ideology reigns supreme now.

The production didn't spend five million on the cast and sets. Just imagine where the other 120 million actually went.

It's like it was filmed by amateurs.

Well, isn't it obvious? It’s basically like the mayor has this sort of mental grip over them—though I suppose it’s a bit harder to pull that off with the locals who were actually born there. And honestly, maybe that's why he was so desperate to get rid of her; she was just too much for him to handle or control.

I suppose I agree. It definitely isn't about school—they probably have a Faraday cage and a Flat Earth model at home or something.

I caught it yesterday. For a "pandemic movie," it was actually pretty decent—nothing earth-shattering, I suppose, but I’d still recommend it.

It seems like teachers can't function—or maybe they just won't—unless every single kid is wearing a mask... I guess that's how it works now.

Switching primary care doctors in Health ·
Jeffrey Chase442 said:I switched doctors about two months ago, but my profile on the insurance portal still shows my old doctor... I actually called the nurse at my former clinic and she told me I need to swing by and pick up my physical file, but then this nurse at the new office tells me that’s some Stone Age nonsense because everything is digital now, and once the old doctor gets the green light from Medicare to release the electronic records, they have to let them go. But what if this nurse doesn't even know how to release my data? Because honestly, it feels like she hasn't a clue since she keeps insisting she has nothing to "release" and that I just need to come grab my paper files 😁... man, people are just completely clueless. I even emailed the administration at the health center and I'm just sitting here waiting for a reply... does anyone actually know the real protocol here, because I'm getting two totally different stories depending on who I talk to? Thanks

When I changed gynecologists about two years ago, the whole thing was handled electronically. I didn't even have to show a card to Medicare. What do they mean "pick up a file"? I guess people still think we're writing everything down with pencils and filing it in cabinets. Good grief.

What exactly is the shock factor here? I’m not following. Are we really acting surprised that someone might grab a snack or a drink during an 8, 12, or even a 24-hour shift?

I’m just trolling, honestly—who can really blame someone for acting a little unconventional? I've already picked up a few strikes for it.

It feels like everyone is just throwing kids under the bus lately, all in some misguided attempt to protect a version of the past that clearly isn't coming back. We’ve been watching this same failed cycle play out for over a year now, and it's becoming pretty obvious that these sacrifices aren't actually saving anything.
Today's kids—and by extension, the very future of our society—are the biggest victims of this pandemic. Even though they aren't the ones being directly hit by the virus, and shouldn't even be feeling the indirect fallout, they’re paying the highest price. Think about it: education and social interaction are the bedrock upon which we build our entire future. Replacing that with Zoom classes, banning sports teams, cutting off travel and field trips, and shutting down community centers, cafes, and clubs is nothing short of a catastrophe. On top of that, constantly making children feel guilty for just existing is devastating. This has been dragging on for two years now, especially when you factor in the strikes from our supposedly "empathetic" teachers. It's a mess.
When it comes to raising our kids, we aren't doing it to turn them into future psychopaths or lazy people with zero intellectual drive. Honestly, as long as they don't end up like that, I couldn't care less about anyone else.

I have a kid too, and I honestly fear they’ll never get the chance to just live a normal life—you know, experience those actual milestones everyone else takes for granted. Between the training schedule being completely gutted—they were going five times a week, for heaven's sake—and that whole online school situation... well, I really shouldn't even go there. It’s just one thing after another. I guess we’re all just moving through this life at a snail's pace, stuck in slow motion.

And what, precisely, is shocking you about this? I don't quite follow. Is it the idea that someone working an 8, 12, or even a 24-hour shift might actually need to eat or drink?

Robert Hernandez11 said:High School. Long break. Is it 20 minutes? 15?🤔
Whatever.

Which students (if any) are actually wearing masks during their lunch break—since kids obviously need to eat—and who on earth is there to enforce it?

That's a rhetorical question.

Elementary school. It's rare for anyone to eat at school; if they do, they just stay in the classroom. They might step out into the halls during breaks, but they have masks on. Teachers keep an eye on them while passing by the faculty lounge, though nobody is really patrolling the entire building. Like I mentioned before, if you don't have a mask, you aren't even getting through the front doors.

urbantinker8 said:No, I don't think it works quite the way you're describing it.
They’re kissing and hanging out everywhere, and they're constantly without masks. A lot of them aren't wearing them at all because their parents back them up, and we don't really have any way to "force" them to actually put them over their mouths.
There are plenty of other little details too, but I suspect you wouldn't be much interested in hearing them, given that you're just passing by a High School and think you know the deal.

Well, I’m sorry if that's your experience. In my case, my daughter forgot her mask once and they wouldn't even let her into her middle school. She had to head all the way back home to grab it, which meant she was late—and obviously, she got marked absent. That’s just how the system works around here, I guess. My girl tells me that as far as she can tell, everyone in class is wearing them.

Bravo, ladies. Truly.
I suppose we could just close the thread now, since you've clearly conquered the pandemic or whatever.🙏

That’s just my own take, I suppose. And since you apparently work at a school, you probably see it firsthand—people gathered out front, hugging and cheering... then they just pop a mask on once they step inside.
As for those of us in healthcare, the only way we catch COVID is from our coworkers. We actually end up passing it to patients, unfortunately.

Susan James said:If they're wearing masks, then usually no.

Regarding high schools—I mean, I'm almost certain they aren't catching anything inside the building itself since everyone is masking up there—but it's more likely happening right outside. I pass by one local high school nearly every day, and honestly, the scene out front is a mess. They just hang out in huge groups without any masks at all, standing way too close to each other... some are even hugging and stuff.

Robert Hernandez11 said:The real issue is ANY kind of gathering—basically any spot where people crowd together and nobody gives a damn about social distancing or wearing masks.
Factories, schools, churches... political rallies, communion, graduations, funerals...

Hasn't it been clear enough after an entire year? 🤔

And before anyone starts coming at me: No, I’m not saying we all need to hide in bunkers, shut down the schools, or lock everything down.
I'm just stating a plain, simple fact.
That's how the virus spreads.

Exactly. The virus spreads. And shutting everything down—in my opinion—isn't the answer because the government sector and retirees are essentially riding on the back of the private sector. (I work in the public sector myself). If they can't earn their keep, we're all going to end up hungry.
High-risk groups need protection and vaccines, but life has to keep moving.

Susan James said:I really hope they aren't all that inconsiderate, but hey, you never know; there's always a few of them.
I know quite a few parents who end up staying home more often too once their kid gets sick; since someone has to watch the little ones, they usually have to take a sick day themselves.

If nothing else, they probably won't be inviting the grandparents over for Easter lunch while the kid is stuck in isolation.
And honestly, that’s already a lot to deal with. 🤷

My daughter was in the infirmary twice before Christmas 2 x—actually, the whole class was. I made sure to officially file for sick leave, even though, realistically, a six-year-old could probably manage on her own—but I wanted to be there with her.
