Clone HDD to SSD in IT Support ·
darkcyclist92 said:Does anyone know of a free tool for this that isn't overly complicated?

I want to clone my entire HDD to an SSD, including all system data and the OS, without having to reinstall everything if possible. The database is about 40 GB.

It's a desktop running Windows XP. I've seen cloners online, but most seem to require monthly subscriptions or are geared toward enterprise users.

Try Macrium Reflect; you just register with your email...https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
Ubiquiti UniFi AC Long Range in IT Support ·
I'm looking at picking up a Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC Long Range for a small business client. I was wondering if it's possible to set up access restrictions on this model—specifically for things like YouTube, torrents, and similar sites. I haven't had much luck finding specific info on this. Thanks.
Post-op wound care tips? in Health ·
bluemason92 said:Hi everyone, I couldn't seem to find an existing thread covering this particular situation, so I figured I'd just start a new one myself. To give you the backstory, I underwent a minor surgical procedure on my scalp today—specifically, a mole removal that my dermatologist strongly advised. To my absolute surprise, they only gave me three stitches and didn't apply any kind of bandage or adhesive patch over the site at all. They simply scheduled me to have the stitches removed in ten days, with a follow-up appointment set for about three weeks out. I was handed those standard post-op instruction sheets which tell me to rinse the area with saline solution three times a day and then apply a thin layer of Bivacyn ointment once it's dried. I would be incredibly grateful if anyone here could share their own experiences; is it actually normal or even safe to leave an open wound completely uncovered without a bandage? Also, I can't help but wonder if rinsing it three times daily is truly necessary, as my gut tells me that skin might actually heal faster if kept dry. Any suggestions, advice, or thoughts you could offer would mean the world to me.

If you can't get a straight answer at the ER, just head to the nearest pharmacy. They can usually help you out, sometimes even better than doctors can.

So, I’m thinking about dropping my laptop off at a repair shop to get it properly cleaned out—you know, get rid of all that dust buildup—and have them swap out the thermal paste. It’s only about a year and a half old, so it's not ancient, but still. On top of that, I’m planning on upgrading the OS to Windows 10 pretty soon, since it’s currently running on Windows 7. My big question is: should I go ahead and handle the Windows installation myself before I hand it over for service, or would it be better to wait until after they've finished the cleaning? Or does it honestly just not matter at all?

It doesn't matter. A new OS has nothing to do with cleaning the hardware.
Trouble with port forwarding on my router in IT Support ·

Hey everyone. A few years back, I picked up a generic IP camera on eBay. It worked fine through my old router using DynDNS for testing purposes. Now, after a long break, I’m trying to get it running on my new router, but I've hit a wall. It just won't connect.

N/A
Batch No. N/A
N/A
SW Version V1.0.3_US
BOOT Version V1.0.4

I set up port forwarding to the camera's IP address. I think I did this right:

LAN Host IP 192.168.1.6 (camera's IP)
WAN Start Port 1048...
LAN Start Port 1048...
When I entered the settings, I got this error message:

The configuration items of Port Forwarding, UPnP and Port Trigger conflict, but this item has the higher priority and takes effect.

???????

I configured the DynDNS host parameters.

I turned off the firewall and added an inbound rule for port 1048. The port shows as open on http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

I don't understand why the camera isn't showing up via DynDNS.

Everything on the camera settings seems correct. My only concern is that I can't change the primary DNS Server 1; it won't let me move away from the default 8.8.8.8, though the secondary DNS is fine. Could that be the issue?

Just wanted to say I solved the problem. It turns out I hadn't set a static IP address (LAN). That was my mistake. I can now see the camera via DynDNS. I also fixed the Gmail notification issue by lowering the security settings on my Gmail account. Thanks, everyone.

Looking for HP Deskjet 845c drivers in Computer Peripherals ·

Unfortunately, no. The software just scans and then tells me to look for a driver on the network or my PC. I already know that much... I'm asking for more help than that.

I'm looking for a driver for an HP DeskJet 845c on Windows 7. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks.
What is going on with this??? in Laptops ·
darkowl72 said:Not really. It’s just going to leave kids frustrated because they have a computer but can't actually play anything on it... For $667, there's honestly no smart way to handle kids using laptops. A tablet or an Android device works fine, sure, but laptops? Not happening.

I figured as much. Who would be crazy enough to settle for those kinds of specs? It feels like they're just desperate to get rid of them...

Or what should I get $667 for the kids?
Gmail issues on Microsoft Edge in IT Support ·
I can't do it anymore, even though I used to! haha

Just kidding... I actually can't access Gmail through Edge anymore, and the same thing happens with other apps like Facebook. It keeps telling me to enable cookies, even though they're already turned on. It says, "It looks like cookies are disabled in your browser. Check if cookies are enabled or try opening a new browser window. [?]"

Tried everything... still nothing.
My father passed away this past Thursday. Thank you all for the advice. Wishing everyone strength in their own battles.

Angela Wright said:I find it hard to believe shark liver oil supplements could cause this level of damage. I'm worried we might be looking at liver metastases here. 😢 Is there any way to be certain the MRI and ultrasound readings were accurate?

Yes, I agree with you. He's been in the hospital since yesterday. His bilirubin levels hit 270 units. It's frightening. He has a fever around 100.4 F. The ultrasound didn't show much besides some slight dilation of the bile ducts. He should have a CT scan today. The surgeon at Mayo Clinic spoke to us over the phone; he can't say for sure it isn't nothing, but given the sudden spike in bilirubin, he thinks it looks like an obstruction that needs urgent attention. I'm hoping they can do it laparoscopically because my dad is quite thin. We'll fax all his blood work, CT results, and other files today, and we will likely head to New York City soon. Thanks for the advice.
My dad has been admitted to the hospital. His bilirubin levels have spiked even further, so I’m starting to doubt the shark oil was the cause. He's barely able to keep any fluids down. The doctors are mentioning potential lesions on his liver, and he'll be undergoing an MRI very soon. If that's what it is, I'm terrified we're reaching the end. About a month and a half ago, his MRI showed nothing, and just five days ago, an ultrasound came back clear too. Is it actually possible for things to progress this rapidly in a single week? And is there any help available?
Chloe Gray5 said:Is he in pain, or is the lack of appetite coming from depression?
My father has lost 20 kg in just two months because of the pain, and he’s refusing to eat too. We’re hoping his appetite returns once his issues are managed.
We gave him Pulmocare last year when he had lung issues and weakened up; that actually helped stimulate his appetite back then.
Maybe try giving him high-calorie nutritional shakes while you look for professional medical help?

Thanks for the quick reply. There isn't any pain, he's just extremely thin. He was 80 kg before surgery, and now he's under 60 kg. He has Prosure and Ensure shakes, but he constantly insists that food just won't go down. It's true that his digestion isn't normal anymore; he feels discomfort unless he has a major bowel movement, but there aren't physical obstacles preventing him from drinking water. Still, it isn't right that he can only manage about half a liter of water a day. As for food, don't even get me started. We plead with him, we're all crying together, but nothing seems to work...
My dad started taking shark liver oil on his own, and now he’s developed jaundice. According to the tests, it isn't metastases; it was just his own mistake. They say it should clear up in about ten days. Continuing chemotherapy is out of the question right now.
However, I have another issue. It seems like he's fallen into a deep depression because he refuses to eat anything at all. He barely touches a little soup the entire day. Naturally, the whole chemo process has been thrown off balance—he has no strength, won't eat or drink, and is basically living off IV fluids. Talking, threatening, pleading—nothing works. He’ll starve to death if we don't do something, but we don't have time to get him to a psychiatrist, and we couldn't even get him there if we tried. If I give him antidepressants, he'll just sleep, and he's already lethargic. What do we do next?
