No offense intended, but I can’t possibly know what everyone else does or doesn't know. You’d be surprised how many people miss this entirely. There's this vague expectation that everything just works perfectly right out of the box, but Windows defaults to 60 Hz, and since the setting isn't exactly front and center, most people just overlook it.

Look at it as the number of images generated per second. If your monitor's refresh rate is 60 Hz, it can show 60 images a second. If it's 165 Hz, it can show 165 images a second.
FPS (frames per second) is just the number of frames your graphics card sends to the monitor. Various software tools used to track this (like MSI Afterburner or Fraps) will report whatever number the GPU is pumping out, but you won't actually see all those frames on screen unless your refresh rate is high enough to match. You'll see the number in the software, sure, but the monitor isn't physically displaying that many frames because its refresh rate is too low. In reality, people just think they're playing at that FPS, but they aren't actually seeing it.

Also, while you're at it, go down to your Display settings, click on Advanced display settings, and check if your refresh rate is actually set to 165 Hz or if it's stuck at 60 Hz. Windows doesn't always switch it automatically; you have to do it manually. If you bought a 165 Hz monitor, you might as well actually use it.

Right-click the desktop > Display settings and under "change the size of text, apps and other items," set it to 125%.

Here's the reality: that card at 1080p is pushing 200-300 fps in most titles. Do you even have a monitor with that many hertz? If your refresh rate is lower than what the card can pump out, you won't see those extra frames anyway. You're just making the hardware work for nothing. It actually makes sense to cap your max fps in-game to match your monitor's refresh rate. You can handle that via Vsync, Gsync, Freesync, or through the Nvidia or AMD software. If you cap an RTX 4070 Ti at 1080p, your GPU usage will likely sit way below its limit—maybe even under 50%. That's just wasted money sitting there doing nothing. Plus, your CPU might bottleneck you if it's too weak for that GPU. There are very few games where you actually need a beast like that at 1080p for decent performance, maybe cyberpunk with ray tracing enabled. And even then, you've got DLSS and FSR to bail you out.

Look, if you’re just desperate to drop cash on a GPU because you want it that badly, then go ahead and buy it. There isn't really anything else worth chasing here. But let’s be real—even this card isn't a good deal. It’s nearly twice what it should cost if the world actually made sense. And honestly, I hope you at least have a massive refresh rate on your monitor, because this thing is absolute overkill for 1080p. It’s a solid card, sure. The price is just ridiculous.

In principle, you’re looking at daisy chaining here. I don't think it's going to work with that old monitor, though. You really need both displays to support either DP 1.2 or USB-C (Thunderbolt). I'm not entirely certain, but my gut tells me you won't be able to pull this off using a DVI port.

Over the last week or so, I’ve noticed this weird glitch whenever I try to log in. I click the login button, the screen flickers for a second, and then... nothing. Absolutely nothing happens. I can hammer that login button all day long and it won't budge. I have to click somewhere else on the page first, then come back and hit login again just to get through. I’m not sure if it’s related to that other issue, but it feels like it might be.
