Look, trying to know every single piece of music ever made is impossible. I mean, physically, how can one person hear everything even once? 😁

On top of that, even the die-hard music heads usually stick to specific genres. Like, take Antonijo Fonata—he doesn't listen to world music or jazz, but that doesn't mean he isn't into classical or some other musical traditions. 😬 Either a regular person or a critic might "know" it all, but they usually just specialize in one lane.

If you've been looking at my album picks, you've probably noticed I jump from world music to early classical pretty easily. 🕺

Then you've got guys like Adam Neely (pretty sure that's his name)—that guy basically has music theory running through his veins, from what I can tell.

That's fine. But first, we need to start a new thread instead of hijacking this one. And second, the mods need to promise they aren't going to go around deleting posts. They should actually join the conversation too, so we can all hash this out together.

It doesn't actually matter. I wrote this exact same thing myself (though they wiped most of my posts), and look, I agree, but it’s really not the point. The real issue is whether people actually sit down and listen to the music. What’s the point of winning a vote if everyone just ignores the album anyway? I’ll give you my vote, and honestly, I think I probably gave it to you in the past too.

It totally blew me away—the way Weir directed it and how his character was written. Just incredible.

The soundtrack is such a cool concept, just like the album. It immediately sparked four different ideas for suggestions in my head: the Forrest Gump soundtrack, the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack, the Crimson Bomber Soundtrack, the How to be a Rock n Roll Failure soundtrack... and there's plenty more where those came from. I haven't even gotten to the actual soundtrack part of my plan yet...

Everything’s cool. Regarding the lyrics—I know how much that matters to you—this current suggestion is probably my weakest one yet. Honestly, I don't think I can top this specific vibe. As for everything else I'm cooking up, including the lyric ideas? Well, you're gonna be seeing a lot of me over the next twenty rounds. You might actually need to freeze some of this stuff down just to keep up.
There’s another album coming, though not in the next round but the one after that. The lyrics are a little weird, but musically? It hits hard. As for the rest....
I’ve got at least 20 different directions I want to take before I even consider pivoting to something totally different, like blues, jazz, or maybe even some classical stuff.
So yeah, I have a massive lineup planned for what I'm posting.... If I really feel like it, I might even have to rip some tracks straight from vinyl and upload them to YouTube since they aren't available anywhere else...

Honestly, starting from the next round, the only reason I care about being able to suggest two things is because I’ve got a massive list of ideas.
But there's no point in grouping them together in the same slot. If I pitch two different albums by two different artists, and someone digs one but hates the other, how am I supposed to know which one actually hit the mark if they only get one vote for both? Every single album needs its own space.

I've got a question.

1. Lisa Davis46, what's the deal here—can I submit two different suggestions at once? I mean, if it's a 2-in-1 reissue, that's technically two albums, right?

2. I totally agree that a double album counts as one entry and should be handled that way. But can I throw in a live album too? At the end of the day, studio recordings and live sets are both real albums.

3. I have a killer suggestion for a future round, but most of the tracks on it are covers. Is that going to be an issue?

My only real worry is making sure the albums I suggest actually get listened to and maybe even studied a bit. They don't necessarily have to win. I don't want to go through the hassle of starting a whole new thread if they don't take the top spot. Plus, it feels wrong if an album wins just because of votes when nobody has actually sat down and heard it. I'd much rather suggest something people actually listen to, even if it doesn't end up winning.

The Supremes definitely deserves a vote right out of the gate. Honestly, I’m not usually big on albums like this because you really have to sit there and drown in them to get it, and frankly, I just don't have the bandwidth for that.

I'm trying to do the same thing here—post stuff that actually hits. Not those "study this for three hours" records, but things that just land perfectly the first time you hear them.
It takes forever to wrap your head around a band's vibe or an entire album, and if you're doing that, what else are you supposed to be doing with your life?

Remember when I suggested that killer David Bowie album, "The Beach Boys"? People were all like, "Oh, you need to listen to that more," or "You have to really study it." Basically saying they didn't have the time to mess around with one single album for that long.
Look, my favorite thing is that music doesn't *have* to be overly complex, even though I do own some heavy stuff. But I try to avoid that here. I want stuff that's just good—music that hits hard without needing a week of prep work just to "get it." If we do that, what happens to all the other albums out there?
Posting super complicated stuff just so people can act like big-shot experts in front of everyone else is pointless. Complexity isn't everything. Sometimes, the simplest solution is the absolute best.

The thing is, if people actually debated properly, half the users on this forum would get their feelings hurt. They'd end up getting kicked off. But people dodge that because they don't want to change or learn anything. To them, being proven wrong feels like a personal attack on their ego.
