Hey there,

Could someone please throw some suggestions my way? I'm looking to put together a build for up to $1667 based on what this shop has in stock. And obviously, I won't be paying cash.

- Basically, I need this for work in graphic design/Adobe programs, so I'll need a solid processor, plenty of RAM, a decent drive, and enough storage space. Oh, and I'd really prefer it to be quiet. Honestly, I have no clue. Factor in the case too. I don't need a monitor; the one I have works perfectly, so no sense in replacing it.

I know nothing can be perfect within this budget, but I just want something decent that actually works without lagging. I can't deal with the slow piece of junk I'm using now—it barely even booted up this morning—and I'm officially done throwing money at repair shops.

I caught it and honestly, I was blown away. But man, it’s such a shame they aired it practically after midnight... scheduling a movie like that for the graveyard shift is just embarrassing. Especially when you've got to be up by 6 AM the next morning 🙄 I mean, what else can you expect from NBC?

Honestly, I feel like prices are pretty much the same no matter where you look. I’ve been checking them at Walmart, Kroger, Steam, even over at CVS...
I'm sure there'll be some holiday sales on toys coming up soon, so just keep an eye out.

Maybe try looking on classified sites too, maybe someone will post something decent on eBay 🤷

I’m still struggling with this one thing though: I’m using Google Chrome and I've got an adblocker running, but it just won't kill that little box on the right side where it says . It would be awesome if I could just get rid of it... But every time I try to set up a filter, it ends up blocking every single table on the site, basically nuking the entire forum

Look, I’m not *that* old-school, though. I haven't been messing with dial-up for years now. And besides, you can't just toss an Eizo aside overnight, especially since everyone suddenly decided widescreen resolutions are the only way to go 😁

And check out what they're calling the "standard" now with this Motorola they've set up for us. In this specific case, even a 15'' screen would be an upgrade 😬

Look, if someone doesn't care about screen real estate, they just want the thing to work. Plenty of people have much bigger priorities than obsessing over how many inches they can squeeze out of a monitor. I’m telling you this as someone who works on two setups at once—one big, one small. 😉 Right now, I'm typing this from my third setup, a 17''. And honestly? It hasn't ruined my workflow at all. Everything works fine, just like you said. ☕

As for avatars, whatever. I don't link them to what century we're living in. As long as the forum actually functions without throwing constant 503 errors, I don't care about the pictures.

And what's this supposed to mean, "the year of fast internet"? 😕 Speed is just whatever you pay for. Mine hasn't changed in years because I refuse to throw money at service providers for stuff that isn't worth half the price. It’s got nothing to do with 2011, GPUs, or "standards."😁

I’m looking to ship something out where the recipient (don't actually know them, just a random transaction) has to pay on delivery—basically a COD shipment. It’s some kind of tech gear worth about $900, and I’m guessing it weighs no more than 3 kg.

My plan is to make sure they cover all the shipping costs, but if I have to pony up the cash upfront, any idea what that might run me? Also, how do I make sure the thing doesn't get smashed? Is there a specific "fragile" sticker or something? It's not super delicate, but I'd really rather they didn't just toss it around the back of a FedEx truck...

By the way, has anyone used Amtrak for shipping before?

I was just sitting here reeling from some random thought I overheard from this older lady—really highly educated type, comes from one of those old-money Ivy League families—who basically said she’d never donate an organ. She actually argued that they might just tear you apart later or something, and honestly, she just thinks the whole thing is too gross. 🙄

Such an entitled woman, too. The kicker is, she dropped a massive pile of cash on some major surgery just last year. If she woke up tomorrow needing a kidney, she’d probably just try to write a check for one. It makes me wonder how she’d react if she actually needed one. What if they tried to give her a pig kidney? 🤷
