Just checking in with everyone—I’m feeling alright today after yesterday, though I’ve been relegated to staying out of bed for the time being... I am honestly just counting down the minutes until they get all this stuff cleared out. I'm genuinely curious to see what my nose actually looks like once the swelling subsides; with everything currently attached to it and stuffed inside, it looks massive—it's impossible to make any kind of accurate assessment right now.
Adam Johnson said:Ladies, I have a bit of a situation. About a month ago, I underwent rhinoplasty to fix a small bump on my nose. The bump looks smaller now, but it hasn't completely vanished yet. 😢 When I touch the area, it feels swollen—sort of soft to the touch. Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, how long does the swelling actually subside? My doctor told me it should settle down in one to two months.
Thanks 🙂
In my experience, after my own nose surgery, it felt like I hadn't even had the procedure done at all—nothing felt particularly different, and honestly, nobody even noticed my new nose. 🤷

The surgery is done, and recovery is generally going well... except for one thing. Now that the splint has come off, my nose is incredibly red and covered in these tiny white bumps—basically little pustules. I’m looking for some advice... has anyone else dealt with this, and how did you manage it? Thanks.
Maria Diaz79 said:Pepi Svijetlić, tama! Ladies, please weigh in here! Do you still have that bump at the base of your nose? Because I’m currently dealing with one myself.
What kind of bump are we talking about? Don't scare me—my appointment is coming up fast. Is it visible? Is it just some swelling, or something else entirely?
Sandra Ruiz47 said:I'm not the type to badmouth people publicly, but don't worry—you certainly won't be heading to that guy! He’s obscure; honestly, I didn't even know who I was seeing at first because I trusted a friend who turned out to be anything but a true friend. Back then, you really didn't have many options when it came to doctors!
Now, I’d love to get my nose fixed, but those "red eye" complications scare me—plus, I have no idea how they actually replace bone. Is it a strange sensation? Can the body reject an implant? What does a rhinoplasty like this actually cost, and who should I see? (The Gulf Coast area) I would be truly grateful for any information...
In that part of the country, you have some questionable names popping up, and is that one actually any good? I don't know—read through some of these previous posts first. Though, if you ask me, your selection is much broader and better in Chicago, and it isn't like the Gulf Coast is that far away.
Sandra Ruiz47 said:I underwent rhinoplasty about twelve years ago. I had this bump—I actually preferred keeping it—and looking back, maybe it wouldn't have looked so bad on my face after all. Post-op, I was covered in bruising, and my eyes—the whites of them—turned bright red! Well, just on the inner corners, but it looked absolutely horrific. Kids on the street were actually frightened of me! Once the swelling finally subsided, I was left with what I’ve been stuck with for years... the look of a broken nose! I should mention that I ended up paying for this botched procedure out of my own pocket. Not only does my nose look deformed due to sheer incompetence, but the surgeon also decided, quite unilaterally, to give me a bulbous tip—something I never even asked for! I can't stand bulbous noses! So, there's my cautionary tale... Oh, and to top it off, the doctor told me those red eyes (Dracula eyes, essentially) could potentially be permanent—supposedly a one-in-a-million occurrence... Now I'm considering a revision surgery (which feels like pure idiocy!), yet I'm terrified that those red eyes might become a permanent fixture...
Which surgeon did you see? (If you don't mind sharing)
Jamie Mitchell13 said:Hey everyone—does anyone know if you can see dr. Toncic for medical issues, specifically breathing problems, and get your nose straightened at the same time? Or is it strictly for cosmetic reasons?
You can go for both—medical necessity and aesthetics are both on the table.
To be honest, I feel completely lost right now—even though I have this nagging suspicion that everything will eventually settle into place. But since I’m currently sick and spiraling toward a full-blown sinus infection, I’m terrified my test results won't come back clean. I just don't have the patience to keep waiting like this.
Hey Jesse Taylor7, how long did you actually wait before your surgery? My doctor told me three weeks—which is just ridiculous—but in that timeframe, I could easily end up getting sick six more times...
Laura Castillo7;18496228 said:I honestly don't even know what I'm allergic to—how am I supposed to know? Maybe I should get some tests done? Oh right, have you actually gone through allergy testing at a hospital yet?And do you need an appointment for an EKG? What if my doctor tells me I have to wait two months.
An EKG is standard equipment in basically any clinic. It takes all of two minutes.
I know, but my mom says that here in the States they make you schedule it—she just isn't sure how long the waitlist is. Look, I'll just tell them I need it urgently for surgery and call it a day.
I honestly haven't decided yet—I need to run it by my mom first to see what she thinks. It might be the safer bet to just stay put, all things considered. You’re lucky, though; you’ve already navigated all of this, whereas I... well, who knows if I'll even live long enough to see it happen...
Honestly, I haven't even figured out what my specific allergens are yet—how am I supposed to know? Perhaps I should start looking into some diagnostic testing. Oh, right—have you actually gone through the formal testing process at a hospital? And do you need to schedule an appointment in advance for an EKG? What happens if they tell me I have to wait two months for an opening?
Jesse Taylor7, how did you feel right after the surgery when it was time to head home? Were you feeling alright, or was there any bleeding? I’m honestly torn on whether I should stay overnight or just push through and leave. The doctor says it isn't necessary—though, predictably, the nurse thinks staying one more night would be the safer bet—so now I'm stuck in this limbo of indecision.
Maria Diaz79 said:I’m glad he reassured you about your nose—though, personally, I found everything he told me to be spot on (I tend to be incredibly cautious and skeptical, so I take everything with a grain of salt 🙂). That doesn't necessarily mean you'll face the same wait times. Honestly, the worst part is when they won't prescribe the Apaurin—once you actually get it, things become much more manageable. As for me, I still have a little swelling at the base of my nose. No lumps or bumps so far; everything is looking perfectly smooth. I couldn't be happier 😉 .
Regarding those lumps—it really just comes down to how your specific tissue reacts during the healing process. Let's hope for the best there; the rest is out of our hands . Did you actually speak with the anesthesiologist before the surgery? I'm honestly terrified of the idea of waking up halfway through the procedure
Maria Diaz79 said:Hey, did you make it to your consultation? How was the experience? I arrived at the clinic around 10:30 AM, so I'm certain I was waiting for you until about 11:30 🙂. My surgery went ahead roughly between 12:30 and 1:00 PM. I finally headed home around 4:00 PM. My husband dropped me off, went to work, and then came back to pick me up.
I had my consultation today—it was excellent. The doctor explained everything clearly and assured me I’ll have a beautiful nose. I really hope he's right. I've scheduled the surgery for March 3rd, and honestly, the wait is going to drive me insane—that’s easily the worst part of this whole process. If I have to deal with long waiting room delays on the actual day, too... well, let's just hope I don't lose my patience. My only lingering concern is regarding potential complications—you know, those bumps or other minor issues people talk about—but hopefully, nothing like that occurs. How is your recovery coming along?
Jesse Taylor7, you headed home the very same day they cleared you after the surgery, right? And what time was that—did anyone actually stay behind to wait for you the whole time, or what?
Maria Diaz79 said:Glumičić. Look, Dr. Miller’s assessment isn't final until the mold is completely removed. My nose looks perfectly fine right now—but based on what I’ve read, you can end up with all sorts of lumps or crustiness in the following days or months. I’ll keep everyone posted on any developments, but for the moment, as I previously stated, I am extremely satisfied with the results.
Jesse Taylor7, did your doctor actually mention the possibility of lumps or anything like that? Did he give you any other specifics regarding that?
