2016 Car Launch and Pre-season Testing in Formula 1 ·

At the end of the day, American F1 fans don't actually hate any specific driver. At least, I’ve never gotten that impression, and I’ve been pulling for Vettel since 2007.😁

I’ve never viewed the trash talk directed at Vettel as genuine hatred. It’s strictly just poking fun at Vettel fans...

There’s nothing malicious about it, and it isn't hatred toward the fans, let alone the driver himself. It's just standard trolling and nothing more.

Spot on. Only an idiot would harbor actual hatred for someone, especially an F1 enthusiast hating a single driver. But trolling and flame wars on a forum? That’s just part of the game. It is what it is.

Looks like "size zero" is the move. The real question is who’s going to pull the rabbit out of the hat first...

They certainly did a nice job with the paint job. By the way, how much is Alfa Romeo paying to have their logo slapped right on the rear end? And why there, specifically?

Ford has much bigger issues than just engine power. I recently started working on a project with a massive Japanese corporation, and man, their mindset is something else. They follow vertical hierarchy down to the micron; there is zero chance a lower-level employee would dare act independently or even pitch an idea to someone above them unless it’s their direct supervisor.

So, if you happen to have some idiot in charge, but the guy below him actually has a brilliant idea or initiative, everything goes to hell because the higher-ups never even hear about it.

There is no way an intern is going to speak directly to a director, let alone a board member or something similar. It doesn't matter how good the idea is.

The larger the company, the more pronounced the issue becomes. And Ford is a massive entity...

I just don't get why LdM would bother bringing an average driver like Hakkinen over to Ferrari... when they already had Irvine. 🤔

At that point, there wasn't a better option. Under the right circumstances, even a mediocre driver can find success. We have plenty of examples of that.

Obviously he wasn't. But you have to defend the legend. It's hilarious how Alonso fans love to lecture everyone else about being delusional while becoming the most delusional people on the grid themselves....

Classic syndrome.

Better?

We're sitting through the Monaco GP right now, and in about ten days, we'll be heading to the Canadian GP.

And what does the timer say? How many seconds of lead did Hamilton actually build on Rosberg during the actual racing stints? That’s the metric the stopwatch tracks, isn't it? Not just driving behind a Safety Car, but actual racing.

Once he gets paired with someone in a car that actually rivals a Mercedes, he’ll start acting out just like he’s done countless times before. It only takes Ferrari being equally fast for Vettel to eat him alive. A German is a German, and Hamilton is just a clown. A talented clown, sure, but still a clown.

That's not true. He was too distracted by everything else. When he actually keeps his head on straight, nobody can touch him. That's exactly what I was getting at.

stormybadger8 said:What does it actually mean to be the best instead of just winning...

And how was Hamilton better than Rosberg in Monaco? By the fact that unlike Rosberg, he uses his hands and feet, but clearly doesn't use his brain...

Because someone like that will always end up being seen by anyone who actually knows anything as a fraud and a loser. The marketing departments will get their money, sure, but the experts know the truth.

So, is Hamilton dim-witted? Yes. Is there anyone on the track right now who can touch him? No. Not even close.

Actually, it’s probably for the best that he lacks mental capacity; it gives everyone else a fighting chance. Imagine if he were actually smart too—would there even be a point in letting him compete against these little birds? He'd crush them all the way to Silverstone, every single time.

Nature eventually finds a way to maintain its own balance. That’s why Lujo is clueless. And that’s why a mediocrity like Rosberg actually has something to hope for.

And that's fine. That's just nature. It would be foolish if it were any different.

How is that not true? The winner (contrary to what graniteharbor502 claims) doesn't necessarily have to be the best driver out there. We saw exactly that just the other day. It's the same deal with certain world champions... and even some multi-time ones.

What a joker!

This whole situation just goes to show that Lewis Hamilton has one massive blind spot: his head and his decision-making during a race. He drives with his heart, not his brain.

Unfortunately. Fortunately.

At the very least, this adds some much-needed drama to what’s becoming a predictable championship. Rosberg has exactly one shot left at this: he needs to get inside Hamilton's head. If he has any intention of actually winning this season, he has to pull that move in Canada right now.

If Lewis is still struggling with his braking, Rosberg will have the perfect opening. But let's be real—that isn't going to happen. Rosberg is acting like a total coward, and it was obvious even after they climbed out of the cars. Of course he was secretly thrilled that Hamilton blew the win, but he played it off like a weakling—which is exactly what he is.

Then again, given where he comes from, it’s hardly surprising he acts like such a pushover. That's just how they are.

Vettel, on the other hand, is doing a fine job of settling for mediocrity and taking whatever scraps come his way. Whatever. It’ll probably define the rest of his career anyway.

Kudos to Jenson Button for picking up those first points for McLaren. The car seems to be improving every single race—not necessarily at the pace anyone actually wants or expects, but it is improving. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out in Canada.

It’s interesting that this is one of the rare tracks where you could argue the setup favors Rosberg more.

Off the top of my head, it’s the only circuit where Rosberg holds a convincingly positive record against Hamilton.

Over the last two Monaco races, Rosberg walked away with two pole positions and two wins.

Meanwhile, his teammate managed two second-place qualifying results and finished fourth once and second once in the race.

The most interesting thing about Monaco, I think, is that it might be the only track where Verstappen has a positive score compared to Vettel.

I’m not saying I expect Rosberg to beat Lewis, but I wouldn't be surprised if he does.

The guy taking the pole here has the advantage.
