What kind of GPU can I grab for under $1,500?$667Can I squeeze in a bit more—maybe if there's a solid reason, like needing more RAM? Right now I'm rocking a 4870, and honestly, it's not like this new one is much longer, but I don't really want to butcher my case to make it fit. I've got a 600W power supply, if that helps at all. What's the baseline here—a GTX 760, some kind of GTX 900 series, or an R9 270-290? I've heard some of those R9 cards have overheating issues—any specific ones I should steer clear of, or any particular models worth hunting down?
Thanks. I figured it was the GPU, though I did wonder if the monitor was acting up too. Anyway, the card is the only old thing in this rig—everything else has been in there for less than six months (well, the CPU was used, but still)—so I’m definitely swapping it out this summer. I'm eyeing something with at least 2-3 gigs of VRAM, which means looking at $1000-$500. I'm not really trying to blow my budget during the winter months, though.🙂 It’s definitely time for a cleaning, too. I haven't dusted it since I upgraded, and since this case doesn't have any filters, it gets dusty pretty fast.
GPU fan at 40% and temps are hitting nearly 80C. Crank it to 100% and it drops to 60C—those artifacts disappear immediately. My bad, just realized there’s already a thread about this
So, I've got this weird issue where my screen is getting hit with artifacts—alternating green dots and big white ones—whenever I'm gaming, watching videos, or even just looking at photos. In the photo I uploaded, you can see the white dots on the left. Not sure if the green ones show up, but they're definitely there on my end. One thing I don't get: if this is just a photo of my monitor, why are the green dots flickering? It should be a static image since it’s not a GIF. Sometimes the dots go crazy and take over the whole screen. Other times it seems fine, but then it feels like my GPU drivers are choking out—everything freezes for about five seconds, and then the green dots just vanish. And yeah, I'm getting the occasional Blue Screen of Death, too. Most of my gear is relatively recent: an Intel Core i7, 8 gigs of RAM, an older Samsung monitor (about 4 years old) without a digital output, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX. Any ideas?
http://www.vmware.com/products/workstation I messed around with this back when version 6 was out—maybe 6 or 7 years ago, if I recall—and it worked right out of the box. Pretty straightforward, logical stuff. Tried giving VirtualBox a shot about six months back, but it just didn't click for me... felt way too clunky.
How are they even scanning for this stuff? I've got a laptop for my small business running pre-installed Windows, but I've got all the receipts and serial numbers to prove it. Nothing illegal on my machine—honestly, the only extra thing is Picasa, which is just free software.
People always end up interpreting laws however suits them best. 🙂
Exactly... you just have to stay honest about it. The reason things get messy isn't really because of people, it’s because the laws themselves are basically written to be: "do this... or maybe do that." 😁
Of course not. I don't see any reason why parents would be responsible for the debts of a child who is both an adult and fully capable of managing their own affairs. I honestly don't know why they're even allowed to start cataloging someone else's property.😕 At this point, they should just file a statement saying everything belongs to them.
So, here’s how it shook out—the collectors claimed the laws changed, so now they're inventorying everything at the debtor's primary residence. It's a mess. $2333. That parent went ahead and did it. $367 Do it right away—apparently, if you don't, the interest keeps piling up and everything else is due within fifteen days. Then, a few hours later, they call me back and claim the law didn't even change. Real smooth. Was that pulled off through a straight-up scam, or did they just prey on people being too trusting? I’m guessing that lady isn't seeing her money again—standard procedure when there's a "wrongful" payment involved. It’ll probably just end up covering something else entirely.
Got a question about enforcement laws... An adult owes money to T-Mobile and they're currently under garnishment. The thing is, this person lives with their parents. Now, the collectors are claiming the parents are on the hook too just because the debtor shares their address. They even started making an "inventory" of everything in the house. Is this actually legit? How is that even possible?
Look, you gotta decide what you actually want first—you’re the boss here. Set your budget, scout out the best deals, hit up a few spots, and then just sit with it and think.
Betty Davis93 Asks: I'm honestly torn on whether it’s actually worth my time to hunt for wedding dresses in San Francisco, or if I should just head straight out to the suburbs. Is there a massive price gap between the big city boutiques and the shops further out? As for what's available in San Francisco, I've heard of Victoria's Secret and Glamour, but that's about it.
Regarding the makeup artists, I’ve noticed quite a bit of chatter surrounding Lucia Spajic and Tina Kalinic lately. I actually took some time to look through Tina Kalinic's portfolio on Facebook, and I have to say, her work is genuinely impressive. On the other hand, I couldn't find much to go on regarding Lucia Spajic; there just aren't many photos available to really judge her style. If anyone happens to know any other talented makeup artists worth following, please do let me know.
And yeah, how far in advance did you all actually go wedding dress shopping and book your makeup artists? It feels like I’m getting ahead of myself, especially since the big day isn't until June 21, 2014...
Thanks!
Antonija Guc is also top-tier.
If this is the kind of stuff they play on local news in California or San Francisco, I'm out. This singer looks and sounds exactly like everyone else.
Looks like you got stuck with some cheap junk that obviously fell off the back of a truck—someone's trying to make a quick buck off you. Take it back and get your money back. Honestly, I’d rather just go with laminate from $10 than deal with this headache. All that cash spent and not even a decent spec sheet. What a joke.
Mine "snapped" from pure boredom about 15 years ago once he retired. Though, his version involved quitting drinking—so that’s a different kind of breakdown. Honestly, it’s just one of those things—different strokes for different folks. We don't talk much officially, mostly because everything he says usually turns into some sort of grievance or a jab at someone else. Life moves on, though. You gotta focus on your own lane. Once you're actually standing on your own two feet, you won't have the time or energy to worry about what everyone else is doing.
Look, as an American—well, at least I thought of myself that way before we joined the Union—I think we've all got skin in this game. It’s not even just about the people; it’s the leaders. Honestly, it doesn't matter who was more "villainous"—everyone fights for their own backyard. If I don't look out for him, he'll certainly look out for himself at my expense. We used to hate how all the tax money flowed straight to Washington, and now it’s all heading off to some bureaucrat in Brussels. We used to mind those specific local spots being overrun... Now, when the Chinese start moving in and setting up their own enclaves, or the Bulgarians and whoever else follows suit—are they going to bother us, or are they allowed to be here just because the EU said so? It’s all pretty pathetic, really. The public has just gone numb. My whole sense of identity has shifted—now I just consider myself an Earthling. At the end of the day, we're all just human beings. Who cares about the labels?

Let’s just say my wife and I are scraping by on an average American salary. It fluctuates—usually leans higher—but that’s beside the point. I’ve got enough for TP, though occasionally I'll treat myself to the $8.00 Charmin 😁 stuff. Did a little reading. Feel bad about the stroke, sure, but I also feel for the guy who got hit. He should’ve had to answer for his actions—he took a life, after all. No one is untouchable 🙂 In the end, nature takes its course. What are we supposed to do? I'm gonna go whip up some pancakes; that's a much better way to spend the time. We aren't in the same league 😂
I’m not making any grand declarations here—let’s just say that’s my take. We live in the age of the internet, surrounded by people constantly broadcasting their own lives. I rarely even touch a newspaper anymore, mostly because I’m hardly ever in places where you actually read them. I’m just stating my opinion and I think I’m done with this topic, so don't come at me. We’re talking about Jack and his thick skin, for heaven's sake. It’s like he’s lost all sense of reality—he can try to coast on his old glory days if he wants, but it won't work. 🤷 If poor Jack doesn't have anything left as a public figure, then as an average guy, I should probably be more successful than him given the opportunities I've had. At the very least, this whole mess serves as a great cautionary tale for everyone else. ☕
Joseph Peterson6 said:It seems like you never pick up a newspaper. If you did, you’d see the endless stream of tragic stories from all walks of life—people from every corner of the country who are constantly featured in the news because they're out there begging for help and donations.🤷
You caught me—I don't. I might flip through a paper twice a month if it's just sitting there, just to see what kind of garbage they're serving up, but I'm not much of a TV person either. A movie or something decent? Sure. But the news and all that other nonsense🙂 if I happen to catch a glimpse, fine, but I’m certainly not waiting around to hear our "attentive" journalists tell us the truth about how things are actually going in this country... I don't need that in my life. I've got better things to do than watch TV pundits bicker. I was strictly talking about some retiree or laborer being interviewed on TV—though every now and then they throw someone like that on just so they don't look totally corrupt, so they can't skip it entirely.☕
Zachary Collins2 said:My friends... I can't help but wonder, what does it actually look like when someone finally falls ill, whether they're enjoying their retirement or still out there working hard every day...?
Look, if you're retired, working a 9-to-5, or just an average person without deep pockets or high-level connections, you aren't getting this kind of PR—so it’s hard to spot. But honestly, we don't even need "them" to show us how it works. We already know.
