Best PC Emulator setups? in Desktops ·
So, let's play a little game. If you were putting together a build specifically for $1667, what would be your go-to setup?

I've been looking into those mini PCs and Android boxes, but honestly, they feel way overpriced for what you actually get.
If you're looking to run emulators, I think a mid-range setup like the ones mentioned above is probably your best bang for your buck.

That said, I haven't really kept up with the scene in ages. I'm a little out of the loop, so I could definitely use some help picking the right gear.

Can anyone suggest a decent pre-built setup for 4K$1667 without any peripherals?
I don't really need anything beefy enough for modern AAA titles; I’m mostly looking at emulation stuff.
Think Batocera, RetroArch, that kind of vibe.

What do you guys think about this one?

Or maybe this instead?

They're both used machines.

My budget is sitting right around $1667.

Honestly, I haven't kept up with the scene in ages, so I'm feeling a little lost on where to even start.
cosmiclynx79, you should probably reach out to the FTC regarding this.

You can grab the official form there to report any data privacy violations.
Though, if I were in your shoes, I’d probably just give them a call myself.
Casey Bennett said:Sorry about that! I totally missed this post yesterday. All I saw was something about deleting an account and clearing out posts. 🕺

If those threats came through a private message here on the forum, please just report it by clicking the little icon.
In case you shared any sensitive info on the board, let us know so we can have the admin scrub that specific post.

You’re more than welcome to take any threats to the police, though I’m honestly not sure how they'll handle a doxxing threat. But if there's an official subpoena, the forum is legally required to hand over the data regarding whoever made the threat.

Under CCPA, every single post on a private forum counts as personal data, so you have to delete them upon request.
It isn't just the messages either—you have to wipe all the metadata from the database. Otherwise, running a site like this becomes a legal nightmare.
Best,
Casey Bennett said:neither one gets deleted.

which is actually a violation of CCPA and totally illegal.

If a user asks, you HAVE to wipe their account, delete all their posts, and scrub all that metadata clean.

Otherwise, you're looking at criminal territory.
Have a good one.

Based on your math skills, you're basically still in kindergarten.

Honestly, looking at your intellectual capacity, welcome to the "Corona" subforum.
Drew Price76 said:Great topic, and honestly, it's a valid question. I've had the same thought myself. I feel like people over there just need to get laid more often. They'd probably be a lot more chill during debates if they were.

That's some fourteen-year-old level logic right there.
Honestly, starting a thread like this on a supposedly "serious" forum is just plain tacky.
Especially when you look at everything that's been going down here lately.
So, if that’s the case, why wasn't Mr. Brown's topic "seksati li štogod" moved over to the "skeptics corner" (or whatever they call that part of the forum)?

This whole forum feels stuck in the early 2000s tech-wise. It’s pretty outdated.
It's a little sad when you think about the private owner making money off this place without actually putting any work back into upgrading it.

The thing we all know is that early morning is the golden hour—zero censorship.

Why’s that?

Because the slackers are still catching up on sleep.
Classic move for people who don't have a job.
They’re usually out cold until 10:00 or 10:30.
Then they roll out for coffee.
Grab a quick bite to eat.

So, by about 11:30 or noon,
the censors are working at full capacity.

Honestly, it would be great if the forum mods would just hire someone for the graveyard shift.
I wouldn't mind doing it myself, though I'd probably only work for a decent deli sandwich.

Regular users can definitely pitch in to keep this place running smoothly too. It’s honestly pretty uncool to try and insult me while I'm actually trying to be helpful. We don't do insults here.

I really don't get people who complain about getting banned when they're basically just proving they deserved it in the first place. 🤔

buddy, go get a job.
People love whining about being silenced or censored, so if you want to call it a penalty, fine by me.

Matthew Jackson2 said:The reality is they’re being prioritized because their mortality rates are higher—that's the "humanitarian" angle they sell us—but more importantly, they represent the heaviest strain on our healthcare system, which, let's be honest, is the single biggest headache of this whole pandemic mess from a societal standpoint.

Honestly, there aren't any priorities left to talk about. That kind of logic belongs in the early days when we were scrambling for vaccines, but that's old news now.
Everything is flipped. We have more doses than we know what to do with, way more than there are people actually lining up for them.

And let's be real, the healthcare system hasn't actually been overwhelmed at any point—not even during those questionable lockdowns last year.
If anything, hospitals were pretty quiet back then.
The real issue with our medical system is just massive disorganization. I'm getting this from an inside source, by the way—hospital wards were being merged, moved, shifted back, moved again, just a constant cycle.
Naturally, that creates total chaos. But it wasn't chaos caused by COVID-19; it was just pure chaos caused by bad management and nonsensical decisions.

Elizabeth Morales49 said:My wife and I just got our first dose of the modern stuff, and we'll be heading back soon for the second one.

As for the kids, we aren't planning on vaccinating them.

Why? It’s an easy call for me and my wife—we're halfway through life, so to speak—but I have no interest in giving the little ones something that hasn't been sufficiently studied yet.

I honestly can't wrap my head around that logic. You're openly admitting you think the vaccine is experimental, yet you still went ahead and took it? Why jump into an experiment on purpose?
Plus, if you're being a good dad by skipping them, what's the plan there?
You seem to be forgetting that by looking out for yourself, you're actually looking out for your kids too.

Donna Watson65 said:Legal action? Honestly, you might as well be chasing your own tail. I really don't see what kind of payout you'd actually get—not that anyone could even figure out the legal grounds for it—even if you spent the next ten years running yourself ragged through the court system.

When you sign up for a site like Reddit, Inc., you're agreeing to certain terms and conditions. Honestly, I’m still a little fuzzy on what exactly people are protesting or complaining about here. I went back and read your opening post, but I’m still struggling to wrap my head around it. How could someone actually misuse your data on a platform where you use a nickname instead of your legal name? You can just make up an email address if you want—it doesn't have to be real! Plus, you get to decide exactly how much of your personal life you want to share with the rest of the community. It's all pretty much under your control.
So, I guess what you're saying is my data might be totally compromised because some third party wants to get their hands on it, maybe for identity theft or something? 🤷

Who am I talking to?
Are you guys actually representing Monitor and Reddit, Inc.? And like, are you speaking on their behalf?

Just a heads-up: Monitor and Reddit, Inc. haven't actually aligned their operations with CCPA regulations. Since they're technically out of compliance, your internal rules don't really apply to me. They're breaking the law and violating my privacy, so I’m just stepping up to exercise my right to demand that all my personal data be wiped immediately.

How are they actually going to pull that off? They’re refusing to delete posts, and this profile has nearly 1,000 entries. Honestly, it doesn't even affect me, but I'm just curious about the logistics.

Those sticky threads where they tell you they won't delete your personal info even if you ask? That’s basically a straight-up confession. It's like they're handing over the evidence themselves.

I'm telling you guys, they’ll change their tune the second someone actually sues them. It hasn't happened yet, though.

From here on out, I’m only going to be talking directly with official representatives—you know, the people actually acting on behalf of Monitor and Reddit, Inc.

Look, I'm not looking for a debate here. This is just me making a personal request.

It’s been two days since I sent in my request. Any idea when I might see my profile anonymized and pseudonymized?

I’m requesting the anonymization of my personal data and the pseudonymization of my user profile.
Just a quick heads-up: when CCPA regulations first kicked in, I wasn't actually given an option to anonymize my info, and I definitely don't consent to this site collecting my personal details.
By "personal data," I mean anything that could pin down who I am—stuff like physical descriptions, where I live, who I work for, any photos or videos I've posted that show my identity, or even personal info tucked away in links I've shared.

Before I get hit with a standard canned response, I should probably mention that the fines for violating CCPA are pretty massive. It seems to me that this site hasn't quite aligned its operations with CCPA standards yet, and I want to remind everyone that I have the right to request an audit of all my posts here and demand the removal of any content containing my private information.

Here are some examples of fines handed out for CCPA violations:

It’s not even about being intense, it’s just pure organization. So many people try to pull that off and honestly, they never quite hit the mark.
