stormywolf39 said:I know a few people (and it wasn't just about the heroin)... but what are you even thinking? What about the liver, the kidneys, or the total destruction of the cardiovascular system?

Great. Just go explain that to someone undergoing their tenth round of chemo. Tell them they can just shove some lead up their nose since their body’s already trashed from the treatment anyway—might as well get it over with so they don't have to live much longer.

Or tell it to someone stuck on dialysis.

stormywolf39 said:living longer, sure, but with a shrinking chance of ever actually getting back to normal... at that point, you might not even want to stick around.

Hey, stormywolf39, what’s your take on people with mental disabilities, Down syndrome, or those struggling with mental illness?

stormywolf39 said:@Edward Green: first off, it’s rare to find people just shooting pure heroin. Most addicts are mixing it with everything they can get their hands on—not to mention all the cheap fillers and garbage crap they add just to stretch the supply, which is obviously "great" for your body. 🙏 🙏

So what, everyone who gets clean from heroin has a fried brain? Is that the consensus now?

My point is simple: this country is broken and we're all going broke. 😁 And I’d probably jump in to help out some other groups first, too. Sickos. "I’d rather just take the cash and buy some mammogram machines and all that other useless junk nobody actually needs," or whatever. Look, once we hit a higher level of development and actually fill up the federal treasury, then—and only then—can we start worrying about everything else. Just like Denys said.

That money ends up being flushed down the drain on junkies anyway. We're talking about tax dollars used to bail out addicts after an overdose or paying for their rehab when they catch some disease from their lifestyle. It’s a joke.

Anthony Miller13 said:How exactly is that going to help someone who's already dead? Or what about HIV positive patients? What’s the point?

Come on, use your brain. It’s like an on/off switch.
If you’ve got pros watching over you, the odds of ODing drop through the floor. Period.
Listen, let's get one thing straight: you can't catch HIV from sterile equipment. Period.

brisknomad6 I can't even begin to respond to this. What is there to say? It’s absolute nonsense.
What the hell, are you high or just incapable of reading what’s right in front of your face?
Here, take a look at this. It’s clearer now.
I’m all for treatment and rehab. Period.

It's obvious. 😉

Look, anyone who consciously dives headfirst into a drug addiction—knowing damn well what the warnings are and exactly what kind of wreckage they’re leaving behind—is a fool. And that's me being polite. That's me being politically correct. Honestly? They're just idiots.

The reckless drivers tearing up the highways, the idiots driving drunk, sleep-deprived, or just completely losing their minds behind the wheel—they’re all the same. Then you’ve got the people sleeping around with random strangers without even using a condom, or anyone hooked on drugs. It doesn't matter how you slice it: they're all just a bunch of morons.

Does it not absolutely sicken you that Medicare is picking up the tab for their entire treatment?
Enough with the nonsense. I’ll say it again: why on earth should I care if your syringe is clean if you aren't even checking to see if my fuel is volatile? Make it make sense.

What kind of twisted logic is that? You’re seriously saying it’s harder to scrape together cash for someone’s clean needle than it is to save their life after an overdose? Make it make sense.

stormywolf39 said:So, wouldn't someone using this room just end up getting high for way longer than they ever would have in a normal situation?

Yeah, he probably would've lived longer if that had happened..

Hey, does heroin actually fry your brain? 🤔
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
Anthony Miller13 said:Wouldn't it be better to open more halfway houses, rehab centers, or vocational workshops to actually create jobs for recovering addicts instead of just providing a room where they can get high?

How exactly is that supposed to help someone who's HIV positive? Or dead?

Megan Reed, what's your actual argument against SSI?
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
Anthony Miller13 said:as far as I can tell, the only perks of a rehab facility are:
a) no needles lying around in the parks
b) everything is sanitized, so there's less chance of getting sick

Fewer overdose deaths and fewer diseases spread by dirty needles (I’m pretty sure reducing HIV and Hepatitis rates isn't exactly what you'd call a "minor perk")...

Megan Reed said:you can keep those stupid comments to yourself

Look, advocating for free vaccinations isn't "stupid." 👍
Why waste taxpayer money on entitled little brats?

It’s smart. It’s humane.
And it’s freaking efficient.

Megan Reed said:It’s like taking an alcoholic who drinks cheap rotgut, switching them over to high-end bourbon, and then footing the bill for that lifestyle forever. 🙏

Why not just let them drink themselves into a stupor on the taxpayer's dime until they end up face down in a gutter? 👍
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
Megan Reed said:The only thing I'd give addicts for free—you know, on the taxpayer's dime—is a quick death.🥳

You’re an absolute saint. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Seriously, we should all be bowing down to your massive heart and the kind of compassion this world hasn't seen since Jesus was crucified.

🙏 🙏 🙏

analogwolf2 said:Alright, why don't you explain to the rest of us how those addicts—who totally deserve all those medical benefits—actually contribute to the system... financially, or otherwise?

Oh, I don't know, maybe they actually paid into Medicare. Or maybe their parents did. 😉
Maybe they even have a donor card lying around somewhere...
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
analogwolf2 said:I am taking full responsibility for any costs incurred from my medical treatment because:
a) I’m paying into the system more than I’ll ever actually use.

Look, if you get lung cancer—which I hope you don't—you're going to burn through way more cash than you ever put in. Same goes for HIV. Or if you wreck your car, end up under the knife, hit the ICU, and spend months in rehab just to walk again.

For example.

And oh, while you're burning through that money, maybe some woman fighting advanced breast cancer could actually get the therapy she needs instead.
Don't kid yourself either; if you die from any of that stuff, your organs aren't going to be of any use to anyone.

Nice sentiment, really, but maybe try a little less arrogance and a little more humanity. It wouldn't kill you.

(Though, by your logic, if you died, there'd be no risk of you wasting Medicare funds, so maybe that wouldn't be so bad after all. 😉)

Seriously, she doesn't even know the difference between a forum and a single thread...

analogwolf2 said:Honestly, I don't get why this belongs in the Health section... maybe we should just start a new sub-forum for Illness😕

Period cramps, smoking, bird flu, allergies... it's all health-related.

(Do you even know the difference between a topic and a forum? 😕 )

analogwolf2 said:hell yeah!

Are you smoking? Eating like trash? Not hitting the gym? Running on concrete? Speeding down the highway? Getting in a car with a drunk driver? Using a condom every single time?
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
I say we just euthanize anyone with a needle mark on their body. 👍
Why bother wasting taxpayer money on them?
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
analogwolf2 said:he won't even empty it!

you're just so sweet🙂
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
Look, I doubt anyone can say for certain that someone they love won't end up struggling with addiction. It makes me wonder... would you just let them die? Just so they don't become a financial burden on you?
Drug Policy: Safe Injection Sites (SIS) in Health ·
analogwolf2 said:Honestly, I don't give a damn. Let those scumbags fight over their own cash with whatever sharpest tools they can find. The sooner they kick the bucket, the better—it means less of them bleeding me dry through my taxes.😠

And let them die from heart attacks caused by eating too much bacon, or liver failure from booze, or lung cancer from cigarettes, or just dying in car wrecks... just let 'em drop.
