How can I get Zithromax? in Health ·
Alexander Lewis said:Jose Miller3, you might be a moderator, but you aren't paying attention. Please, actually read what the person wrote here:

So, it’s perfectly clear that his girlfriend's primary care physician didn't examine her, didn't do her job, and did nothing except refer her to a specialist without a proper checkup.
From my perspective, this isn't about "maintaining order." It's about a GP treating a patient inhumanely, failing to perform basic duties, and wasting Medicare funds by charging for her own negligence and sending patients to specialists unnecessarily.

Sorry, but you're just leaning on a narrative you've constructed in your head that doesn't align with the actual facts of the original post.

Yeah, exactly—the whole point is that I don't buy what the person in the original post is selling... 😉

And whether or not I'm a moderator has absolutely nothing to do with my take on this topic, you know?
Tykerb in Health ·
Tykerb just got the green light from the FDA for treating metastatic breast cancer when paired up with Xelod chemo.

I’m guessing we’ll see approval from other major regulators pretty soon too, so maybe we can expect it to hit the US market by the end of the year? One big plus compared to other options is that it's designed to be a once-a-day pill—way easier than sitting through an infusion. The catch, though, is the same deal as Herceptin... it only really works for cancers where there's that HER2 protein overexpression.

As for the price tag: it shouldn't be crazy high. 🙂 Since Tykerb is a small molecule, unlike Herceptin which is a monoclonal antibody, it should be much more manageable. Of course, that doesn't mean it won't cost a fortune—not while the patent is still active, anyway—but it should be way more accessible for most people...
So, what is this, some kind of clone attack? 😁 😁 😁

It’s actually pretty cool seeing you two reinventing yourselves—Rijecanko and Arslan.

Anyway, I’m still the same old me, and honestly, I still think you guys are great... just watch out once you start getting nasty, because we all know how that goes

Alexander Lewis said:Theoretically, the argument about community-associated antibiotic resistance holds water. But here’s the real question: do you actually want to undergo a thousand different tests just to determine if you specifically need Zithromax or if something milder will suffice, all while you sit there suffering through symptoms and pain waiting for the results? At the very least, that kind of approach feels inhumane. You’re sick, you came in for medication, not an endless diagnostic odyssey.

I don't know who would volunteer to be holier than the Pope by refusing Zithromax, especially when so many doctors prescribe it left and right, which arguably does more to fuel antibiotic resistance than anything else. It’s like being told the public needs to conserve water by skipping daily showers, while meanwhile, industrial farms growing cotton for export are using hundreds of times more water than any household ever could, consuming whatever they want regardless. Who is actually going to endure personal discomfort for a marginal benefit to the community? Very few people.

Honestly, the easiest route is to just visit a doctor who writes prescriptions and get the Zithromax; I'm fairly certain it isn't hard to find, and someone mentioned seeing Zithromax available via online retailers as an alternative.

In any case, I wouldn't put up with a condescending doctor. I’d take my medical records elsewhere to find someone who treats me with respect and communicates with me like an intelligent human being. If you let people walk all over you, you're basically signaling that you're fine with being treated like a second-class citizen with no say in the matter.

But honestly, if we're still talking about what happened with the guy who started this thread... I can't really say his girlfriend's doctor was being rude. Based on how he described it, there's zero evidence for that—absolutely nothing.

To me, it sounds like she went in, the doctor checked her out, listened to what was going on, and decided it was just the flu or some virus—so she told her to rest, drink tea, and take some Advil for the fever. In my opinion, a GP most of the time is more than capable of figuring out when it’s just a virus versus when someone actually needs antibiotics.
Then, the girlfriend probably started pushing for Zithromax because "that's what helped her boyfriend." In that scenario, it makes total sense that the doctor would just send her away with a referral to an infectious disease clinic instead.😉
Alexander Lewis said:It’s entirely possible you're dealing with a tooth infection. They aren't always accompanied by throbbing pain, but they can absolutely cause issues that radiate down into your throat. I went through something remarkably similar after having one of my wisdom teeth partially extracted. I dealt with this persistent, nagging sore throat that just wouldn't quit. If I stayed on top of my health and kept my immune system up, I could manage, but the second work stress kicked in, I stopped hitting the gym, or I started eating junk food, the inflammation would come roaring back. Once I finally had the tooth pulled, it turned out there was a small pocket formed above the site where an infection had taken hold—which I assume was what was bothering my throat all along. As soon as the tooth was gone, the throat irritation vanished.

I honestly don't follow why they'd want to drain half a liter of blood from you. Personally, I’d turn that down in a heartbeat unless they provided a damn good reason to let that happen.

What are you even talking about?
They only took ten test tubes of blood, and each one holds maybe 2 to 5 milliliters—it's nothing, really. So, we're looking at a maximum of 50 milliliters total 🤣 🤣 🤣

I mean, regular blood donors give about a pint per session 🙂

edit: just to be precise here—those Vacutainers are usually between 2 and 7 milliliters 🙂

Alexander Lewis said:Honestly, there are way too many unknown variables in this scenario for anyone to draw a definitive conclusion. We’re basically just stuck in a loop of bickering—either we take aim at the overprescription of antibiotics, or we blame the doctors for being lazy.

Here’s my take: we’re talking about someone’s health here. If the patient is asking for Zithromax and her throat exam suggests a bacterial infection might be the culprit, don't you think it's perfectly reasonable to advise her that getting a throat culture first is the smarter move to find the right antibiotic? But if she refuses to budge and insists on having that Zithromax right this second, then fine—just write the damn Zithromax.

Honestly, no. Not really. There are a few different reasons why, but I'll just stick to two for now:
1) Zithromax is expensive. I really don't want some shared medical fund or insurance pool paying for Zithromax for someone who just *thinks* they have strep...
2) There is this thing called community-associated antibiotic resistance (I honestly can't remember the exact technical term for it in American English, though 😕 ), and basically, it means the resistance she develops could create a strain capable of spreading to others... which eventually makes Zithromax way less effective for everyone in the area.

Back in the day, we didn't just hold back on Zithromax because it was "strong"—which sounds a bit dramatic if you ask me 🤣—but because we wanted to prevent exactly that kind of CA-antibiotic resistance from happening down the road.
oh, come on, don't even go there 👎

when you donate blood, they only take about a pint—and trust me, nobody's dying from that...

Brandon Thomas89 said:I mean, regardless of the circumstances, what kind of doctor is that—someone who doesn't even bother looking at the patient before just tossing out a referral to an infectious disease specialist?

Since when did infectious disease specialists start handling the common flu? In my opinion, this is a failure on the part of primary care physicians. They've turned into glorified clerks who just churn out prescriptions and referrals instead of actually being doctors who practice what they studied.

Yeah, I get that, but what are you supposed to do when a patient walks in with obvious flu symptoms, and you tell them to drink tea, take some Vitamin C, and grab some Advil, but they start demanding Zithromax because it worked for their boyfriend, or their neighbor, or even their dog when they were sick?

Oh, wait—I can also type :pusa:, but most people can't... 😉

you're welcome, again.

There's more..

of course there is—we're just getting started.

Is there a way to quote multiple parts from one post, where each part gets its own little reply box?

okay, now that's getting a bit tricky, but you can actually 😁 😁 😁

quote the post, then right after the specific section you want to highlight, hit it with the tag—that closes out the first snippet. Then you write your own stuff, go back to the next part of the original post you want to pull, put the
tag in front of it, close it with
, and just keep going like that... if you don't want to type it all, you can use that little icon that looks like a comic book speech bubble—it's right next to the image upload button in the menu—and that thing will automatically wrap the tags around whatever text you've highlighted!

* - just remember, no spaces after the [ bracket!

Eric Robinson81 said:Zithromax is a potent antibiotic, and I completely agree that it’s irresponsible to prescribe it blindly for every little thing. However, in this specific instance, the individual clearly stated their illness cleared up just two days after starting the Zithromax. That leads me to believe we were dealing with a bacterial infection that the medication successfully targeted. I don't quite understand why everyone is jumping to conclusions about Zithromax being handed out without any actual examination.

Why not simply take her to her own primary care physician? It would be much simpler if she transferred her medical records so he could write the Zithromax prescription himself. If you really want to go that route, it's a straightforward process, and once that's done, you have the freedom to seek a second opinion whenever you feel the need. Rather than undermining her current doctor by showing a lack of trust, perhaps find someone else who will actually listen. Going to an infectious disease clinic isn't exactly the best move either way, but in my view, dismissing a patient with a fever without even looking at them is far worse than conducting an exam and then prescribing Zithromax.

Or, honestly, you could just say his flu or whatever passed naturally without the Zithromax doing a single thing... 😉

We can't really tell which one it was—we don't know what his symptoms were actually like, and he didn't even get a throat swab tested 🙂 🙂

Basically, you just hit quote on the first response, grab whatever text pops up, then go back and quote the second post—just paste the first part right into that one—and boom, you get this

No problem at all, seriously, don't even mention it 🙂

I’ve been hanging around this forum for a long time now, and I’ve read just about everything... but claiming there are only five or six pedophiles in the entire US? Honestly, that takes the cake.

Pedophilia has always been around—how society handles it changes with the times—but nowadays, we all know it’s viewed as one of the most disgusting violations of human dignity possible. It's because it targets children who simply can't defend themselves. And look, the reason it seems like there are more cases now isn't because it's increasing... it's just because we're finally talking about it. There's more awareness, more reporting, and more people getting caught—which, at the end of the day, means more kids are actually being saved.

Oh, man... yeah...

Totally!
